In retirement I find out how hard my wife would work to keep the house clean. Now that she works full time outside of the home, I try, but she was wise to lower her expectations a bit.
Thanks, Mother Gargle. And with advice like that, I’ve earned the Dirtiest House on the Block Award. Any dirtier and I might get one of those cute little Condemnation For Pollution Notices. I’ve already received a notice for having a yard with too high weeds. It is strange though that other yards with higher weeds didn’t get notices. I guess I was just the lucky one.
Some people actually enjoy cleaning houses. I am not one of them, but I have hired someone who is. She and my dog adore each other. I can always leave when she is here and know my dog is very happy and safe.
If you want to see a pristine environment with no dust, just go right past my place, because you won’t see one here. I do clean once in awhile, but am not obsessive about it.
I agree, with Mother G…. My guests often remark about the “interesting patina” on my tables…. I tell them not to move anything as there will be a shiny spot underneath it. : )
Sounds like something Wilberforce MIGHT say. However, he really wouldn’t. Though I’m surprised that Ramona would say that to her daughter, unless in a jesting way of course. However, Ramona isn’t really known for her sense of humor. However, I’ll say it was a jest due to the Spirit of the Season……

This time I agree with the old lady.

I guess that is one reason to let the old battle axe hang around so much, she makes everything else look better.

The old bat is making sense.

Sweeping her out of there would make the whole place a lot cleaner.

Is that supposed to be a dust pan?

It’s like car repair. Fix one thing, another part breaks!

No wonder Gladys is complaining. All that cleaning is giving her dustpan hands.

My sentiment exactly!

Never paint the ceiling in the bath room. The next thing you know you will be doing the whole house.

Mamma said it’s a job that no one notices you did, but every notices if you didn’t.

The thing about dust is if you leave it alone, it develops a lovely patina. It’s also a “protective coating.”

Impeccable logic Mother Gargle, impeccable logic.

That also explains Mama’s personal hygiene philosophy.

not appear… you cannot clean something without getting something else dirty. (doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it)

Home s/b clean enough to be healthy, dirty enough to be happy.
Since I’m a bachelor, I can also get away with: if I never touch it, why should I clean it?
