I gave Jolly Mon Sing a listen. Just when we thought we knew Janis she shows a whole other side. I can certainly commiserate with Arlo. Please forgive me as I digress. Our first trip to Dublin my Brother-in-law and I took the sisters to St. Michans. They were doing the tour of the mummies in the basement back then. They claimed it would be good luck to shake hands with one mummy called the Crusader. As I was thinking “Ewww” both sisters were jumping over caskets to reach him. Turned to my BIL and said “Just when you think you know a woman…”
We love all the songs, my favorite is “A Pirate looks at Forty”, although I’ve changed the lyrics to “my cannons don’t thunder, there’s nothing to plunder, I’m an over SIXTY victim of fate”…
I have too many favorites. I used to sing “La Vie Dansant” and “Distantly in Love” as lullabies to my boys when they were little. (They used to make me rewind and watch the video of “La Vie Dansant” over and over and over again.) I think the song that I love is “Hula Girl at Heart” because it reminds me of my mother. One of my sons said it reminds him of me, which why he loves it.
“Jolly Mon Sings” is my wife’s favorite (well, in the top 5), but I bet Janis is hinting at the one that caused JB’s good Catholic mother to warn him he was going to hell for, (WDWGD&S).
A lot of them are good, but I have a fondness for the first Jimmy Buffet I heard on the radio that led me to all the others: “Son of a Son of a Sailor”
Maybe all of you complaining should just skip the comic until he finishes his homage rather than complaining. Sorry, I know that isn’t how things are done in this social media age, but maybe it should be.
Yesterday’s strip, he threw out a box-load of cassette tapes. Only one person alluded to it, about local record stores wanting them. What about Ebay? Looked on there, he threw out at least $50-60 bucks worth of Buffett tapes. And all the old boxed up things they’ve been throwing out? More than enough there for a garage sale. One man’s trash…. Yeah, I know, it’s only a comic strip. Still….
Why does no one like “Fins”? “Can’t you feel them circling, honey? Can’t you feel them swimming around? You got fins to the left, fins to the rightAnd you’re the only bait in town”
His Live Album “Feeding Frenzy“ in 1990 had awesome versions of his all time Greatest Songs that Parrotheads Loved! His songwriting, voice, and incredible showmanship will be dearly missed.

‘He went to Paris’ is also my favorite Buffet song. On the other end of the bell curve is
“Please Take Your Drunken 15 Year Old Girlfriend Home.”

I’m not a Buffet fan, so I don’t get this. Is there a consensus among fans that that song sucks?
