Bears can climb trees MUCH quicker than a human, and can run at up to 40 mph.

The sign said “Don’t feed the animals!!” It should have said “Don’t feed yourself to the animals!!”

What’s the difference between a Black bear and a Grizzly bear? A Black bear will follow you up the tree and the Grizzly will just knock the tree down.

Communing with nature is all well and good until nature decides to commune with you. Participation in the food chain has its drawbacks!

I saw a video of a woman trying to get a bear to move away from her kayak using bear spray but she was too far and it just made the bear mad and took it out on her fiberglass kayak.

Just run around the tree faster than the bear; or climb a tree and jump to the next one.

Remember a quote from a good lady up in Clayton, Idaho that appeared in the Challis Messenger…. (sometime in the 70’-80’s)

She shot a bear climbing through her kitchen window…

“I don’t mind them rummaging in the trash cans, but when they try to get into my kitchen…

    Used to hunt up there….

    Good people….

    Great home town newspaper…..

It’s always good to keep at least 100 yards or more from bears.

It’s also not advisable to climb a tree to escape a bear, they are much better at it than humans.
