Taking a bit of a breather from writing about a mystical creature who is currently in the form of a cat. Normally she is human… but she is investigating. She is watching a huge family of children running around their home being typical children. For her… it is foreign life style. She is slowly waiting to sneak into the home to leave a gift for one of the children.
For me… most times… I’m trying to make sure I picked the right words. So… there is a bit more to writing than reporting and detectives. Meow! ;)
Yeah, too bad not only is there no true investigative journalism, but there’s no actual “journalism”, as in objective reporting of facts. Now it’s come full circle back to opinion pieces passing for “news” — yellow journalism just like the bad ol’ days.
The birthday of Ennio Morricone and Neil Gaiman: Both creative ground-breakers and creative geniuses. Hoppy birdie two mews!
USMC Day: On this day in 1775 the Second Continental Congress did one of the wisest things done by any legislative body: They created the Marines. Semper Fidelis.
Windshield Wiper Day: On this day Mary Anderson received a patent for the windshield wiper, allowing us all to see the light …
Area Code Day: On this day in 1951, a lot of long distance operators started losing their jobs. However, you still needed an “alleged di-em” to make a local call from a pay phone. Remember those? And Lilly Tomlin?
Sesame Street Day: The day the show premiered. It isn’t easy being green, blue, violet, or any of the other colors, but those muppets did it, to the benefit of all children, young or old.
Vanilla Cupcake Day: Vanilla, while a nice flavor of itself, is much better as a compliment to other flavors. At the risk of being branded an infidel, I think it is even more versatile than chocolate … What am I saying!? Coffee … yes… that’s it … need more coffee … Now, what was I saying? Oh yes, vanilla cupcakes … always better with chocolate frosting … and perhaps chocolate creme filling … and chocolate sprinkles …
Not really, I just suggested the idea. Georgia already had it in mind. She had to have, that makes more sense than her reading comments and seeing folks post that idea then rushing overnight to draw today’s strip.
I hope Goldie takes up Natasha’s idea! Just think — one day we may all be present when she receives the Purr-litzer Prize for Feline Investigative Journalism!!! Oh, frabjous day, calloo callay!
Jora has discovered a way to get Reboot (aka Houdini) back in the house when he escapes. She props open the front door just barely wide enough for him to squeeze through then bangs a couple of tuna cans on the front porch. If she then goes inside while banging the cans, he comes running. Even outside isn’t worth missing tuna water.

From the TV show Secret Agent: Secret Agent Man as sung by Johnny Rivers
There’s a cat who’s unafraid of danger
At the Big Pink House she was a stranger
But now she’s settled in,
You know she’ll always win
When she sets her sights on a mystery!
…….
The Detective Cat!
The Detective Cat!
You gather all the clues and solve the mystery!
…….
Beware the items you gather when you take them,
They may belong to someone else, don’t break them!
You try to do what’s right,
But end up in a fight
When you gather clues to solve the mystery!
…….
The Detective Cat!
The Detective Cat!
You gather all the clues and solve the mystery!
…….
Helping to solve the mystery of a big mess,
You still need to ask Lupin for forgiveness,
You find it such a breeze,
When the Mice are taking cheese
You’re on the job and gonna solve the mystery!
…….
The Detective Cat!
The Detective Cat!
You gather all the clues and solve the mystery!

I don’t know what it is that makes me love this so
I only know I never want to let it go
I’ve solved some things, can’t you see?
And ever since it’s kismet, it’s got a hold on me
It happens to be true
I only wanna deal with clues
Now, listen Goldie
We just know there’s mystery everywhere
As long as you’re solving puzzles, you don’t care
‘Cause you started something, can’t you see?
And Natasha has a great idea, allegedly
It’s crazy but it’s true
You only wanna deal in clues
No matter, no matter what you do
You only wanna deal in clues
(“I Only Want to Be with You” / Mike Hawker and Ivor Raymonde / sung by Dusty Springfield)
