Still loving the squirrel suit! Slightly OT When my brother was 6 many years ago, he was in speech therapy because he couldn’t pronounce his r’s properly It was”squull instead of squirrel. So the SP teacher showed him a picture of a squirrel and asked him what animal that was. He said “I knew it was a squull but I said it was a skunk” .
As the mom of a 5-year-old, I can never guess what outfit she’s going to pick on any given day, and I’ve completely given up trying to control it. Wear Christmas in July and stripes with polka dots. I’m just glad you’re wearing pants in public.
And I see The Boy is wearing a suit. Good to get him used to the idea that males are supposed to wear suits for miserable and doom-laden occasions like job interviews, weddings, funerals, and meetings with distant relatives whose names and connections you cannot remember.
My father was a Dr. and Officer in the Army. When I was growing up, the boys all wore dress shirts (full sleeve) khaki pants or slacks, belt and tie (to school). I think I wore that every day from 5 to 13 when I graduated High School. It was “my uniform”. It was 1973 when I got to pick my own clothes. But what I brought to college with me was the clothes I wore at home, so dress shirts, slacks, and belt. I did not wear ties again until post graduate school. I went through two undergraduate degrees, two Master’s degrees, a PhD and Medical School wearing that combination. I’ve never worn blue jeans, sweaters, vests, t-shirts, and just recently started wearing Polo Shirts.
and even I say let the Girl, " be. are. squirrel" Because she certainly is, “am. our .squirrel.”
Lupin is dressed to the “9s” but I notice Elvis is conspicuously absent. Is he sulking errr hiding under the bed? Also, where is Goldie, is she going to make a grand entrance?
This will become a cherished Thanksgiving memory, for everyone will remember how adorable the Girl looked in her squirrel costume. She rocks that squirrel costume!
When I was little I used to love to dress up for family parties but my sister was always a pants and T shirt kind of girl. It was my ‘job’ to make her put on a dress fir these occasions. When I was feeling particularly mean, I would threaten her with the ‘hard petticoat’ (crinoline, it was the 1950s). So the Girl should be thankful for the fact that even dress up clothes are more comfortable now!
So is Lupin trying to win The Intruder back from the man she dumped him for during The Missing Ham Caper?? After all, he wore his real tux (not the tux tee) and a top hat and has flowers! Maybe he thinks he was dumped because he wasn’t wearing a hat that time. 1st time they met he had his fedora, 2nd time his fez, but during the ham affair, no hat…….that must be it, so he’s broken out the classiest of all hats to win her back. I hope she doesn’t break his heart again, the hussy!! ;)

So much here…
The Intruder who “sits on cats”,
The Girl’s beatific smile,
The Woman’s mouë regarding the (unappreciated) pretty dress,
And (of course), Lupin!

But squirrels eat only nuts and fruits. It’s gonna be mighty hard to stay in character, amidst a Thanksgiving feast!

It’s OK, Woman. You’re not wearing fancy clothes either.

I used to dress my kids to the nines too. They are in their 50s now and the uniform is sweats and tees, and sweatshirts.

The boy looks so handsome and grown up in his suit and tie.

I’m an adult, but still retain that feeling of oddness about dressing up for dinner. Why do they expect you, to stay clean , AROUND FOOD?!

It’s time for a feast at the Big Pink House
No sign yet of a single Robber Mouse
Lupin eschews his nekkid camouflage
But wait – is that a li’l squirting corsage?
All are resplendent in their Sunday best
While Mom still hopes she’ll say yes to the dress

For this rendezvous
Her heart he’ll pursue
He likes the gal
On cats she sits
Puttin’ on the ritz
