Trust me, kid. There is nothing “just” about Baba Mouse!

OK, so they’ve been told they’re above everyone. Lesson 1 of a society is coming…

The ultimate compliment for the Ultimate Barn Cat. What a softie Baba can be too. She’s loving snuggling the kits. They cannot be defeated now.

The respect Queen Mag shows Baba should tell these kits what a powerful and awesome cat she is.

One kit seems to be wearing a grater.

I love seeing the friendship developing between the two matriarchs. Makes me think it actually goes back a ways – at least the respect.

Two litters of four and two?

Is a raccoon troop like a wolf pack where only the alpha gives birth?

The scariest barn cat to those who would threaten innocent children!

The best compliment, ever! Now, I’m imagining if O.Z, were to join the kits, on a play date…nothing would be left standing!

They are warming to each other, perhaps. I hope so. After all, they now have common cause.

Do not underestimate barn cats. I’m pretty sure my female cat started life as a barn cat. She is one tough little broad.

At least little Magazine has the common sense to whisper her concerns to her grandmother.

I wonder what Baba’s woman will think of Baba having six baby racoons in her coop. Will she have to fight to keep them?

Now that is a compliment!

Baba is a force to be reckoned with. She will cherish and protect those raccoon kits as she would cherish her own kittens.

OT:

The kittens are 8 weeks old today and are raising merry havoc. They will start going to their homes next week.

Anybody know a cure for sore ribs? I had a rather bad fall the other day. Nothing is broken, but my left side is very sore. The doctor prescribed Tylenol 3, but I don’t like the way it makes me feel stoned all the time.

Must be that 90s upbringing she had. :P

Baba Mouse will be rather like the ‘Mother Superior’ guardian (think The Sound of Music) – for the kits. Stern, but caring and fair. She’ll keep ’em in line!! … :)

The only flaw—if there is one—in leaving the kits with Baba is that it sort of ties her down at home. But there likely is nobody else in BCN-land who’s a better choice as kit-guardian.

Reminds me of how I would introduce myself to my students at the start of every year. I would tell them my name and that “I’m the mean one. Someone has to be the mean one and I’m good at it. If you follow directions, do your work, and treat each other with respect then we won’t have any problems. If you choose not to, then I will be forced to explain the error of your ways. I don’t like to have to do that so I will make sure that you don’t like me having to do that.” This would be followed by several of my older students assuring the new ones that what I said was the truth. One (very sweet) boy would tell them how he misbehaved once around me and said they never wanted to get on my dark side. He would even call me Lady Dark Side.

Any guesses how many problems I didn’t have with my students?

I imagine that when Mag gets out the door, Princess Magazine will introduce the other kits to Baba, so we will get to know their names for sure.

It’s true; she really is, but she has a heart of gold. That’s what makes Baba Mouse so AWESOME!

“‘Just’ a ‘barn cat’” is a pretty weird juxtaposition.

With Baba Mouse as a fierce protector of the kits, Mag is now freed up to take action. I’m still thinking that she and the raccoons are going to strike an alliance with the opossums, and possibly with the help of a heroic and harrassing July Bug, the lawn potatoes, er, moles, are going to find they have, bit off a bit more than they should have. And hopefully the moles will see the error of the ways, because if not….
