Missed one on each. Didn’t know that Porsche used a horse in their logo, and I maintain that calling Joseph Smith a “Mormon” is like calling Jesus a Catholic. Smith founded the LDS, but wasn’t a Mormon himself (how could he have been?).
Yipee! I also got 28/4. I think that they should have had a question about what comic strip is most closely associated with the profligate use of floating exclamation points, but I guess they don’t consider comic pages as a religion. Heathens.
Re Quiz: Religion, 29/32; cars, 15/20. Now I’m worried that I shall be considered for human heaven but not for car heaven..Why couldn’t the religious quiz have a “don’t care” option?
FB—The only quiz where I figured I had any chance was the car logos. I aced that one, 20/20 (honest! really! no cheating!). Stayed away from the others (the comics/FA one looked really tough!)….
Well, I scored thirty correct on the religion quiz, gave up on the car logo quiz and I have no idea how I did on the Frog Blog quiz (although a little box showed five of twenty).
Scored far too high on religion and cars, and pretty abysmal on the FB quiz. I can only conclude that I know too much about things I don’t really care about, and too little about stuff that is really important. Argh, I’ve wasted my life.
Not sure how I can be smarter than what I am, but my score on that was 30/32. Missed one supreme court question — answered what I wished it was even though I suspected it was wrong. Just got one plain wrong. The car logos was pretty much done as fast as I could click it, though on a couple, I had to read every choice so I could rule out everything else.
The model in the strip seems to be June Wilkinson, famous for her appearances in Playboy and other magazines and in a number of films in the 1960s. Google searches will generally bring up NSFW images.
I was too lazy to post my quiz results the proper way (here in the comment using html) so I just made it my avatar (which is worse, lame or lazy? – it doesn’t matter, b/c between the two of us we’ve covered the spectrum).
Your Friend in Backwoods Redneck Trashiness (and the only person ever (so far as I know) accused by Joe-Allen “Don’t Call Me Joe” Doty of being you (some people may cling to their 15 minutes of FA fame a little too long, but it’s all I’ve got)).
/s/ Rotifer
P.S. I had one educated guess (Maimonides) and one coin flip (Jonathan Edwards), but I guessed right both times (so there).
I think all of Teresa’s readers trying to take the quiz crashed it. I had to wait forever for the pages to load sometimes. I managed 31/32 but I think I may have taken a similar quiz before as some of the questions seemed familiar.
re: Nuns on a Blog- 7 of 8 seem headed in the same direction, creatures of habit that they are. The other must be Sister Mary Mary, Quite contrary, that one.
Well, 29/32 for religion (should have been 30 but missed an easy one) and only 15/20 for the auto logos (but 100% for all the Asian brands which is only proper for living in Japan 20+ years).
Re: GoComics and Women’s History Month – I think Morgan Freeman’s comments about Black History Month are especially relevant.
WALLACE: Black History Month, you find … FREEMAN: Ridiculous. WALLACE: Why? FREEMAN: You’re going to relegate my history to a month? WALLACE: Come on. FREEMAN: What do you do with yours? Which month is White History Month? Come on, tell me. WALLACE: I’m Jewish. FREEMAN: OK. Which month is Jewish History Month? WALLACE: There isn’t one. FREEMAN: Why not? Do you want one? WALLACE: No, no. FREEMAN: I don’t either. I don’t want a Black History Month. Black history is American history. WALLACE: How are we going to get rid of racism until …? FREEMAN: Stop talking about it. I’m going to stop calling you a white man. And I’m going to ask you to stop calling me a black man. I know you as Mike Wallace. You know me as Morgan Freeman. You’re not going to say, “I know this white guy named Mike Wallace.” Hear what I’m saying?
I got 11 out of 20 on the FB test. I’m from the camp that says if most students fail a test then the teacher needs to whip them until they remember the answers.
I tried taking the religion test a couple of times and stopped when the page blanked. I backtracked and found a link to an article on the impending collapse of the evangelical movement. The writer’s attitude was that evangelicals are the only true Christians and their collapse would lead to a horrible unchristian society. I think I learned why the devout did so much worse on that religion test than we atheists do.
I can only recall seeing Frances Bavier in one production other than the Andy Griffith show. That’s “The Day the Earth Stood Still,” from 1951. Here’s a brief clip of her:

32/32 on religion but, to be strictly fair, the memory was a bit hazy and I had to guess at one of them.

Got 30/32 on the religion quiz and 18/20 on the cars. Answered “Oldsmobile” for what was plainly a “Buick.” Stupid.
