Zipper: And we're off! Zonker: Did you print out the map? Zipper: I don't need no stinkin' map! I'm just pointing the car due east! Zonker: But Colorado is due west. Zipper: And we're off! Zonker: Two cheers for the road not taken!
Seriously, my Dad did this once. Shortly after moving to Dallas, he decided we should visit the famous Ft Worth Zoo, so we literally got in the car and just started driving west. After several hours and no zoo, we just went back home.
Just find your way to I-70 West and be prepared to be bored stiff or a few days. A small amount of a recreational substance would probably make it a magical mystery tour.
“Your Dad reminds me of mine. His idea of a “vacation” was just getting in the car and driving around aimlessly.”,That is how I like to drive…aimlessly. Much more fun. Zonker and Zipper are going to have fun.
“His idea of a “vacation” was just getting in the car and driving around aimlessly.”That’s somewhat analogous to my parents’ version of “going to a movie.” They’d just go, and we’d likely arrive there in the middle, sit there till the end, see the newsreels and cartoons, see the movie restart, then leave when they got to the “this is where we came in” part. I was nearly grown before I realized (or someone told me) that you can find out what time the movie starts, and plan around that.
“Stinking map” — you guys are all too young to get the reference? “Badges, what badges? We don’t got to show you no stinking badges” — Treasure of the Sierra Madre, 1948.
I am sorry I wasn’t able to answer your question yesterday as I had a full day. Yes, I include the Cambridge Police. I include anyone who is willing to at least look at things with a fresh perspective. I respectfully submit that the wording of your question suggests that you have a lingering feeling of, at leadst, disrespect for the Cambridge Police. Doesn’t that show intolerance and a closed mind on your part? We all need to set aside our differences and learn to forgive one another and ourselves. We need the most ignorant haters and the most tolerant intellectuals to find the common ground they share in order to survive. We need Christians to fully understand Jesus’ words about loving one another and our enemies. That did not mean to not defend ourselves but to reach out to one another for a more perfect relationship between people and peoples. All it takes is one person to say, “Won’t you be my friend?” And then another to say, “Yes.” So, SkepticCal, won’t you be my friend? Will you stand with me to try to end hate. How about you GuardSgt, will you look beyond your own feelings and try to see the similarities we share instead of pointing up the differences? I, too, have many obstacles to overcome, but I am willing to work on them daily. If you want to live in fear then the terrorists have one already. But if you are willing to take a stand, look around and you will find many who are willing to stand with you.
War on Prosperity? That’s rich (no pun intended). The wealthy are ever more wealthy and the rest of us have been mired in stagnation since St Ronnie’s era, and it’s Obama’s fault?
Actually, I don’t think I am on board. I really do believe this country and the world will fail if the powers that be don’t understand that they are not the only ones on the planet. It really is a travesty the way that the rich actually believe that they are entitled, but not Joe Doe who was the accountant for thirty-nine years in their company and was downsized just before his vestment was completed. Or plain Jane who had the handicapped child and was fired for too many days at the doctor and is now on welfare and living in substandard housing in an unsafe neighborhood. How about Stan Studley. He was the guy who put in twenty-five years as a non-union dock worker only to be told he wasn’t needed because his performance was down. That was due to the accumalitive joint damage from hard labor all those years. I could make a list of these types and others who have been rendered useless and obsolete by these greedy CEO’s. Now, they can’t get a full time job. The older ones might get on at Wal-Mart but those are limited and usually part-time. I, for one, am tired of seeing good people ground in the dirt by these people, who would divide us. Who would have us calling one another names and questioning one anothers reputation and heritage. And before the left gets too smug, Obamacare will not work, as written. All of these misplaced and displaced people cannot afford to buy insurance nor can they afford the tax they will receive if they don’t buy insurance. These internal problems are the very cracks in our society that the terrorists use to wedge us farther and farther apart with fear. One group hates and fears another group, and vice versa. And it’s gaining momentum. So, we the real people of this country, must unite against these attempts, and some successes, to keep us broken into our splintered parts. We must stand together. We must reach out to our diverse neighbors and be the United States of America, once again.
Since Albuquerque is south of Colorado, if you’re coming from the East, you want to turn right at Albuquerque and take I-25 North. Otherwise, you’re heading toward El Paso, and who would want to go to Texas?
“Actually, you’d need to turn right at Albuqueque. Otherwise you’ll end up in Mexico.”I know, I know. I’ve been to Santa Fe after landing at Albuquerque’s airport several times, also traveled I-10 from FL to LA, CA and saw Mexico to the across the river. I was replying to CaptXpendable, who made a funny, and complimenting him (I assume he’s a him) on his funny!

Those two are undoubtedly already ‘flying’, so due west puts them on a great circle route which will land them in Colorado.
