Pastis: What are you doing, Rat? Rat: My friend count decreased on Facebook and I'm trying to figure out who it was that unfriended me. Pastis: What for? Rat: So I can find him. Pastis: Perhaps you're taking Facebook too seriously. Rat: No one decreases my friend count!

Who needs friends like Rat.

I usually just let them go. If they’re losers like that, they’re losers—let them walk out of my life without telling me why.

Rat does seem rather caught up in that social networking site. I bet Mark Zuckerberg would be Rat’s friend….

So glad to see others that don’t do or can’t be bothered with Facebook. What a waste of time.

Negative numbers were invented so Rat’s FB “friends” could be counted!!
EddieC23 over 11 years ago
Yep, people come to the same website day-after-day, just to laugh at other people and leave snide comments…what losers!! I’ll never do that…

FB isn’t that bad – it has its place. It is a good way to get news about people you either haven’t or don’t want to keep in close touch with – but you do want to know major events like if their grandparent/brother/girlfriend dies.
Get an account and just turn off your feed from anyone that wants to tell you what they had for lunch, or anyone that posts more than twice in a single day. Don’t forget to lie about your birthday and address, use a secondary email address, and don’t play any FB games. Simple.

It kills me how people call Facebook a waste of time… as they leave comments on a comic strip site.

There are some things I avoid knowing that I would get too caught up in them. Facebook is not one of those things. I just have no interest in it.

I rarely sign into facebook, been thinking of deleting my account. My policy for facebook friends is if I or THEY are willing to come over or call me on the phone to chat once and a while we can stay friends, if they want to communiate strictly via facebook…time to unfriend.

A couple of years ago, I managed to lose my birth certificate in a NYC taxi while on a business trip. The next day someone messaged me on FB asking if I had lost it. It was the one thing on FB that wasn’t a scam.

My family talked me into getting a FB account. I rarely visit the site, and mostly use it to share pictures. I generally post a status update once in a blue moon or so.

FB is a good place to catch a few jokes, funny pictures, cat-lovers galore. Sometimes you can get a current event news report there pretty quick. A good time-waster @ work.

Please, how many actual friends does one really have on Facebook? The bulk of the so called friends are just folks who maybe like your posts or, and this is far more likely, are folks hoping to increase their “friends” count by “friending” you in the hopes that you will friend them back and tell your “friends” to do the same thing. All the friends list really is is a watched by list. And it reminds me of those car commercials where the individual was so concerned about how “anit-social” their folks were because they didn’t have that many friends. My favorite was the woman who talked about how she had hundreds of friends and she was sitting in a darkened home checking what was clearly Facebook and seeing she just got a new “friend” while her folks were out and about with their fifteen friends mountain biking and doing whatever else you would do with your friends.

I still can’t figure what the big deal is. Who cares if someone you’ve never met unfriends you? Every time someone unfriends me, my only thought is “Who was that, anyway?”
