Squirrels don’t come into my yard. I’ve put 13 away this summer. By ‘away’ I mean, I’ve KILLED the little tree rats. There, I said it. I’m a squirrel serial killer, and I’m proud of it!

Well this is what happens when you’ve eliminated all THEIR Predators.

Sadly I don’t have trees. Wish I had some squirrels. REmember one in my front yard when I was a kid. Mom loved to watch him. What’s so bad about squirrels?

If you’re lucky, all they do is eat your bird food, chew up your deck and bird feeders. They also will chew their way into your attic and set up a nest inside the walls of your house. One of those filthy things cost me over $2000 by the time we had fortified the house to keep them out.

We have a family of barred owls living in our yard, but they won’t go after the squirrels.

The squirrels chewed up the wiring in my dad’s truck three times before he figured out he could spray the wires with spray lacquer and sprinkle them with cayenne pepper while it was wet. No more chewed wires.

Wonder where they found a seeded watermelon in the first place? We had to convert our July 4th watermelon seed spitting contest to cherry seeds.

Hawks are the best solution and they can do pretty well in most of the US even the Redtails alone. I watch a nest in NY every spring now. Youn might save.this site for the future

Most watchers really get hooked by the devotion of Big Red (the female) and Ezra (the male) and their efforts to raise a healthy clutch each year. Lots of rodents and pigeons bite the dust.

I forgot about the slingshot. Dad used to have one. Thanks everyone for the good ideas on how to rid myself of these pesky squirrels. We have hawks but not enough to take care of them.

So either A) they sliced up the watermelon at home, leaving it to get all warm and dried out, or B) Squirrels got carving knives!
