Jimbo: I'll be in the basement...
Jimbo: If you hear anything unusual...you know what to do!
SPIDER!
Jimbo: You just sit there while I'm having a crisis!
Peekaboo: This is what I do.
The cat’s never help with these things, or wanted to help. The dogs always wanted to help, and would get just as excited as we did. But they never knew what to do.
I have 3, maybe 4 or 5, varieties of spiders in my basement. The coolest is the Wolf Spider.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolf_spiderAfraid of them? Hardly, they’re natures pest control experts. I wonder how dummy would react to a house centipede?https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scutigera_coleoptrata
I have had a few cute little geckos from the garden find their way inside, but have been able to catch and release them rather easily. Does not happen often.
The house centipede hunts other bugs and does not carry disease. Nor does it eat anything else besides bugs, so it doesn’t get into human foods. A completely beneficial creature to have around the house. Most people freak and kill them on sight! Barbarians !
I used to have a nice longleg spider that lived in a convenient location near the sink. I fed it little ants that I’d find outside. When I dropped an ant into its webwork, it would perk up and go running up to it andstart winding it up. Often I’d miss the webwork and the spider would have to run down to the countertop to get the ant. Then it would drag the ant back up and start winding it up. I had a lot of fun watching it. One day the spider disappeared and never came back. It probably went to find a mate and got eaten.
I love spiders. If it’s warm and nice outside, they are taken outside. If it’s cold out, they are invited to stay in. I’ve never had a problem with any of them, and they have been doing a wonderful job with the bug population…for that, I’m very grateful! Besides, jumping spiders are just so darned cute! Also, who can’t say that the artwork of a web weaver isn’t absolutely amazing, especially when drenched in dew in the morning?
Oh,I wish it were snow here…It came, staid two days and then went. Its SUPPOSED to be snow here, I mean Sweden is almost at the north pole. (Ok i live in the south part, but still).
That centipede is actually kinda pretty. I grew up with the short-legged, aggressive, venomous kind (South Texas) and always had to be careful when moving things around outside. They didn’t come inside very often, but they were prolific out in the woodpile. Scorpions, too. My grandmother got a centipede on her arm once and had to go to the hospital.

Spider? I’ll just get my spider box and put the little bugger outside, like I always do.

Spiders are beneficial. Mice are not.

Odds are that the spider popped out of thin air. Hate it when that happens.
