I really like this thread. However I do have a warped sense of humour Probably something to do with the cable connection…er satellite.
watmiwori almost 11 years ago
“I fixed the connexion. You’re on your own with the mice!”And much joy shall Danae have of THEM!

Rats!
edclectic almost 11 years ago
So the mice got to it before the electrical system failed on its own?
keenanthelibrarian almost 11 years ago
What – the Cable guy (sorry, satellite guy) didn’t put out rat poison – how remiss of him!
Aaberon almost 11 years ago
Holy Smokes: that’s a terrible mice problem – where do you live that they’re that bad this time of year??
Q4horse almost 11 years ago
There is always the rabbit ears. You can still get PBS no matter how remote your location. That is all I watch any way.
edclectic almost 11 years ago
But not for deprogramming bites.

@Q4horseRight on! And the price is right, although I’m not sure it can be received anywhere.

I’m vouching for the mice after two similar incidents. First one, a packrat ate through the power lead to the fuel pump in my Explorer. Easy to find and fix, but she did it again! Same wire. After the third time, I coated the wires with peppermint oil. No further problem. In the second situation, two house rabbits ate through cat5 network cable. When they started nibbling on a power cord to a space heater, I had to replace it with armored cable. Love ’em, but they can be pesky.

Every couple years we have a problem with mice eating the insulation of our land line phone.

TV goes blank…and you will never know who was the killer!
dabugger almost 11 years ago
Yep, wireless would work better…..they too have cables to desk tops or tv monitors which may not be so tasteful….

Down here the Inca gods of the Internet and Satellite ( DistracTV is an apt name ) require constant appeasement and sacrifices. I tried offering up the neighbor’s kids ( with his blessing ) but they were rejected.Even prompt payment, accompanied by proper obeisance ( with an occasional grovel & beg thrown in ) does not guarantee continued connection.I feel Danae’s pain !

I had to have my telephone line replaced this summer as the rotten, useless squirrels ate through it!The only good squirrel is a dead squirrel!

I was surprised to see in panel 2 that there’s no snow on the ground—this time of the year in Maine? looks beautiful, in fact!

a friend has to put a mousetrap in her engine compartment EVERY night so she can get it started in the morning….she lives way out in the country.
Caddy57 almost 11 years ago
They don’t need TV repair , they need an exterminator , and since it is PAST New Year’s Day , shouldn’t Danae be in school anyway?
Ernest Lemmingway almost 11 years ago
Get some sticky paper and catch those mice. Or put it over Danae’s mouth. Either way will fix the screams.

I park my ’09 Mini outside and live in a rural area. So far, the mice like it better inside the house, AKA, Mouse trap city. I did find a dead mouse in the Mini. It was summer and I think it died from heat exhaustion. No trouble with the wires so far. Maybe Red Neck mice prefer traditional nests? :-)

This one is CAPITAL, Wiley! I larfed out loud, and my daughter told me to be quiet.

A classic example of treating the symptom not the disease.

When I moved to where I live now, I was told it had a mice problem, and they had poison all over the place. I got rid of the poison and got two cats. There isn’t a mouse (or a rat) within a hundred feet of here…..I do find parts, sometimes…..

Has this strip been in 2009 rerun mode this week? Normally N.S. reruns run during the month of August!

I had a XK150. I spent lots of time replacing wires. Cotton insulation is “odd”. I remember squeezing water out of spark plug wires in Florida.
tomielm almost 11 years ago
We had a pesky vermin problem which we solved by plugging in two of those electronic devices we saw advertised—one upstairs and one downstairs. Worked like a charm—haven’t seen or heard a critter in years.

Mice are just cute rats.

Woodchuck ate through the entire wiring system on my old VW Rabbit — and he was nice enough to leave us a calling card nearby — in case there was any question re: how the 2 inch thick block of wires was severed completely.

Well, dogsniff, at least you got off easy, in the park one day we had a bear eat a guy’s brand new Mercedes 190 SL, seats, dash, roof, steering wheel even (guess it was already salty).
