Did Knute remember to have his V8?– Or did Knute forget his address, and wound up staying at a Holiday Inn?… – Les was going to the stalls, but can Knute stall Les?… -

It seems Les is still around to “putting the moves on people”….– But this time, Knute thought he’d return the favor!…

Leslie the pervert-molester needs a reality check, and Knute (who, by the way is no wuss but rather a space cadet with an athletic propensity in his skateboarding) looks provoked enough to administer the smack in defense of Crystal, who has every right to use a vacant boys’ room that is, moreover, being guarded for her security by her pal/boyfriend, This gallantry and manliness by Knute greatly elevates my respect for him (basically from zero to some, an infinite gain). Leslie needs periodic training, whether from Gunther, Oxford, or Knute.

I am utterly disturbed by the amount of people defending Knute. Crystal should not have been in the men’s bathroom in the first place, there’s no reason that Leslie should have been prevented from using the men’s either. The actual outcome should be both Crystal and Knute being suspended. However given how idiotic Greg is, Knute will be rewarded.

I just hope for Knute’s sake he’s not tagged with violence in school under whatever “zero tolerance” policy there may be. It always sucks when a victim that tries to defend themselves only gets nailed for that. And the initial aggressor usually gets off with far less.

And, of course, I hope he can protect both himself and Crystal. Unlike Gunth, he has no “killer back pack.”

Kind of a half nelson sleeper hold. Knute’s right hand needs to be behind Leslie’s neck. A real sleeper hold needs to have both arms behind the neck not under the arm. I don’t know how effective Knute’s hold will be but he is already in BIG trouble and could cause Les to pass out or die.

    - Crystal should not be in the boy’s room. If she has an emergency, she should approach a teacher or member of the staff to use one of their restrooms.-I’ve searched Florida Statutes, since there was an effort last year to provide exceptions for transgender students in public schools. I can’t find anything that forbids one gender from using a restroom identified as meant for the other, and I also can’t find the section of law that was under discussion about transgender students.-I suspect that a lot of states have laws on the books about, um, activities other than using the commodes and sinks in public restrooms, but those laws may not restrict use by someone of the opposite gender if there are no facilities available.

    - am pretty sure the NRA is not lobbying for students to be carrying guns in school to defend themselves against bullies.-Not exactly, but close. After the episode where the mentally ill boy killed children in a grade school, Wayne LaPiere from the NRA called for all schools to be protected by armed guards. So,strictly speaking, NRA isn’t for the grade schoolers carrying guns; it just supports having armed guards at all grade schools.

    -

HOWEVER, there are proposals being advanced here in Florida for the Legislature to allow college students to carry concealed on college campuses. Given all the road rage in parking lots on campuses, I’m sincerely worried about this one….

“You have to actually sex offend before you become a sex offender.”.True, but I have a nephew I advised parents to never leave alone with small children based on the hunger on his face whenever he looked at them. Only the scummiest people would wait until the damage was done to protect loved ones..Leslie’s expressed intention was not relief of bladder or bowell pressure, but rather to achieve his form of delight at Crystal’s expense. .Knute took him at his word and responded appropriately..Any flaw on Crystal’s part is a separate matter just as police brutality is not justified by previous crimes by those beatten. Pimps feel free to abuse prostitutes because the victims are afraid to seek relief from police due to their own crimes.

Leslie did nothing wrong at all. He simply went into the boy’s restroom. Crystal is not in any danger at all. Her stall has a lock on the inside. Les walks past her stall. Crystal should have expected boys to enter the BOYS bathroom. Knute will surely get in trouble, unless this comic is a complete farce.

But this is a legitimate question,so here it goes.-If you don’t like what you see in a comic, why spend the time reading it? There are so many other comics to read, and life is a lot shorter than most of us think. Why not spend time reading something you like, instead of raging about what you consider to be bad writing?

“Not that I am taking Leslie’s side or anything, but I feel that , in the real world, you are right. …”^Ding ding ding!!!! Especially in th 3D world, Les can “lawyer up” with an ACLU-like girpe and also assault charches against Knute… – He could have just seen/hoped that “Hound Dog (Les)” go find another stall which, despite his quip in response to Knute’s “warning”, is probably all he was interested in doing at the time), and maybe he would have just been on his way… – Though Knute was entrusted to guard, he could’ve also just said nothing, and hoped that “Hound Dog” didn’t notice anything unusual… – And though Crystal wasn’t supposed to be n there, if Crystal really had to go that bad, then she could have just quietly waited for “Hound Dog” to finish up and leave… but this situation probably was heading for this, anyway…

Not a member of the NRA and never will be, and have no connections to sale or manufacture of weapons, but all laws should be lawful and serve a purpose..It seems to me the ones passed and proposed tend to be neither. It is much like the nation’s drug laws, harm to others should be punished, harm done to self should be accepted as the price of freedom, no harm done should not be illegal. Forbidding use of drugs has actually encouraged more drug use and rewarded criminals. Fear of restriction of a right guaranteed in the Bill of Rights scares people who would never bother to buy a weapon int buying while it is still possible. Artificial creation of supply shortage and demand DOES yield higher sales, but that is not supposed to be the reason.

    1. Any port in a storm.2. He’s defending Crystal’s honor, which Les was trying to violate. It is Les who is out of line. ^You’re not incorrect! But…. 1.: This will only take care of Crystal’s involvement in all of this… but even then, there could be discipline for going into the Boy’s Room… – 2. In the eyes of the street and the regular world everyday goings on, Knute’s in the right….. but in the eyes of the law and administration, he’s making them have to do extra work and also making them have to deal with a “black eye” on their school’s image, as this will be broadcast (if not by camera crew, then surely by word of mouth) and then their rep will also have to be on the line, because of this….

“But please stop trying to wussify everyone with all the pseudo-legaleze talk. "^It doesn’t even necessarily have to be like that (wussifying)… but in a real life situation, whether for right or wrong, it has the potential to end up like this… in our eyes, it Knute is protecting his lady… but how many times have we as kids had to go through the process of explaining to teachers, parents, etc. why we did what we did, even though in the end we did right?… – Anytime you have to explain your story to one or more persons, at one or more times, you’re more likely to get people who, not having been there, could fall on the other side of Perception/Perspective/Point of view from us… – Again, no matter how right we may be in our actions, having to go before others for our situations, can have the “risk” of putting our case in the hands of the judgment of someone looking in on the outside of our situation, who may not see things the same way…

if I was the judge on the case at most I’ve give Knute a warning. He was defending a lady against a possible aggressor. ^Very practical, simple and less “haggling and wrangling!”… the problem is, though, those types don’t all exist everywhere (School Boards, In-School Admin., etc.)!…

“What got to him was Les called him “Dufus”.".The Supreme Court has ruled there are “fighting words” so inflammatory that a violent response is reasonable to expect. My brother had a dog named Doofus. He would surely be offended if her name had been misused so egregiously. (She whelped Bertha, Bart, Buford and several other Bs. Bertha was the best but all the others were favored by their recipients.)

As Atomiv said, Les could have very well been thinking that Knute was pulling his chain! …saying “should be fun” isn’t a great remark, but really, the only way Knute could be in the right to do so, is if Les was clearly going to Crystal’s stall, which wasn’t shown.. he very well could have been going to another one… we are ALL debating only on premature, insufficient information, and very little else to go on, until maybe tomorrow’s strip…

What would have solved this , is if Knute put an OUT OF ORDER sign on the door while she was waiting…he likes to clean, and usually cleaners put one up during the process… he should have had one available, even if by makeshift means… – Once she was done, it would have been “all she wrote”, and everyone could get on with it…

Yes, true! But there are also _sting operations, etc _ .in place, and intelligence gathering, by competent (I guess that’s the real key to all of this) law officials, community education/advocacy programs that can be a “preventive measurement” and an effective weapon/tool in the fight on crime and community safety and peace… otherwise, lawyers show up and argue that no bad was being done, and then it can go right back to square one.. – Same for “trafficking” (of substances) and “street companions” for people wishing to “get to know them”… – Common sense, balance and a bit of “mental muscle” to think things through could help in many ways… unfortunately, there is a shortage going around…

This is a school fight. It will not come down to a court of law. If consequences are going to match likely real world consequences, the two boys will both be in trouble for fighting, no matter who started it. Knute will get a short suspension because it’s his first offense. Les may be expelled due to being a repeat offender. Crystal will get detention for using the wrong bathroom.

Knute attacked him just for being in the bathroom in general, which was well within his rights."I didn’t claim it was fair, just that that is the way schools handle it. They don’t care who was right or wrong, they only care that a fight happened.

“Read my earlier post, where I outlined why Leslie does not have to enter Crystal’s stall to be a PT.”

I have just gone over all of your posts in this thread with the keywords “Peeping Tom”. Nowhere did I see an explanation as to how one can be a Peeping Tom without peeping.

“JUMPING JACKRABBITS, are all of you Leslie defenders reading the same strip?Leslie was about to commit a “peeping Tom” on Crystal, and all Knute is doing is preventing him from doing so!”

“And Leslie was about to be a Peeping Tom, which Knute is attempting to prevent! How many times must I point this out?”

You did say, “No, he didn’t actually open it, but he attempted to, and that is why Knute grabbed him.”

And I asked you where in today’s strip did Leslie attempt to open Crystal’s stall. Perhaps I missed your reply. Please point it out to me so I can read it.

Um, Knute IS the intial aggressor. And Les will take all the blame because this is Luann, where the designated protagonists can act like jerks and come out on top no matter what.

I’d argue that Les drew “first blood” by attempting to force his way into the bathroom, after being told a girl was in there using it. Knute perceived a threat (to Crystal if not himself), and acted upon it.

“Please go back and re-read my post. I said, “And Crystal’s emergence from that stall shoots that defense full of holes”. I never said that she came out. My statement was merely a follow-up reaction to yours.”

What? your own words state that she emerged from the stall, which she clearly has not done, and cannot possibly do until AFTER Knute’s attack, since she has not done so already! Therefore Leslie’s defense, that “I did not believe a word that Knute was saying” is sound.

In today’s comic, Leslie appears to have already passed stalls 1 & 2 without seemingly checking to see which one is locked, and thus, occupied.Other than maligning Knute and being intent on getting his business taken care of, what is his offense requiring a violent attack?

Gunther is not self-centered or agressive. It would be as out of character as Leslie showing respect and concern for the needs and desires of others.Same thing with Quill. He has been so respectful of girls that some insist he isn’t interested. Most unlikely he would treat a request to wait, “she’ll be done in a sec” as an opportunity to push past with, “should be fun.” At the VERY MOST we can imagine him saying, “Sorry mate, but this won’t wait,” with no history of or threat of disrespect of the temporary needs of others..Referring to them as A, B, and C sounds mpartial

Knute has no authority whatsoever (1) to allow Crystal to use the men’s room and (2) to prohibit Les Know from doing so, and (3) certainly not to physically assault another student who has done nothing at all toward Crystal and shows no apparent intention of doing so. Knute should be expelled and then arrested. Of course, the Luannverse makes up its own laws not according to the actual actions to according to who is doing them, so Les will be shunned as a villain and Knute will be hailed as a hero. The Luannverse is Superman’s Bizarro Planet.

    Knute will likely be fine.

Leslie’s “Hm! This should be fun!” after being told Crystal was in the restroom can reasonably enough be argued as a potentially threatening statement, which would very likely be enough to create a grey area around any claim of unprovoked assault.

One would hope Knute or Crystal would be sharp enough to bring up the incident where Les was physically aggressive with Rosa as part of why Knute had reason to fear for Crystal’s immediate safety.

Everybody involved will likely receive some discipline, but nothing life changing.
