Luann by Greg Evans and Karen Evans for July 17, 2014
July 16, 2014
July 18, 2014
Transcript:
Quill: "Hark! I have journeyed from Rome, Cleo. And I'm starving!"
Luann: "I'll order a pizza. Have a seat, Tony"
Quill: "Beware my spear"
Luann: "Don't touch my asp"
I kinda like the way this arc is going…all the pretending that is going on. But, after Saturday, I hope we get on to bigger and better things…meaning Brad and Toni’s wedding… ;)
Follow this link or be sure to look up top and click on the banner that says “Luann Bonus”… It seems a new Luann “feature” is coming to Go Comics for us, soon!
This is better than the old ‘Jonathan Winters goes crazy in the attic’ sketch. This is great Improv. If one of the teachers saw this Luann could windup a student at Moony.Agree. Love the double entendres.
Great. Evans can’t finish out the Prom arc, but he can come up with “Bonus Material” in addition the the Fo-getty cycle.(Why does my page keep refreshing when I try to use the “Reply” button?)
Watered the front and back yards today (and the north side of the house where I have some more rose bushes in addition to the ones in the front yard). Things are awfully dry around here, and I am trying to keep my watering down to twice a week. I guess Nancy never had a flower garden? I can’t remember if there ever was a strip with her doing that. Would have made a cute Baby Luann comic as she watches her Mom dig around and plant some flowers…and then pulls them out when Nancy isn’t looking LOL. Well, I have a beautiful Irish Setter (IS) girl moping because I’m still on the computer… She is just waiting for me to close up shop for the day! And, besides (which I wont tell her!), I think I’m attached to my computer chair because I’ve been in it so much today and I need to de-attach! Hahaha (I think!). ‘Nite all! ;)-————————————————————————————“The best laid schemes o’ mice an’ men Gang aft a-gley." (Robert Burns, 1759-1796)
It’s nice to know that these kids have not only kept up with their vaudeville from yesterday, but have now moved on to Shakespeare jokes. Maybe tomorrow we will get some Greek tragedy as Luann and Quill! take a little trip through drama history.-Perhaps Abbott and Costello: Who’s on First? I dunno, He’s on Third…………………
I’m telling you, this is how they’re going to get her in to Moony Uni. The prof will come in and will be blown away by their acting and improv. Said prof will tell Luann how much of a super special snowflake she and how they must have her.
Okay, THIS is what I want the Telegram to Say:_________________________________________

Great! Have This sent Right Away to the Mooney University Costume Shop and Give to this Quill-Guy. Oh, You CAN’T Miss Him. He’s Dressed Up like a USC Trojan REJECT and has a Face like a Department Store Manikin.
….And I’ll be BACK Next Week to Have Another Telegram Sent. This time, to Peru…..,
Al least they finally made it to the couch. While Quill may not touch his spear to Luann’s asp, I’d settle for a little necking (do they still call it that?).
> Trojans and Romans are not the same thing.>Although the Romans liked to think they were – Virgil’s epic poem “The Aeneid” is the story of how a Trojan made his way to Italy, where he became the ancestor of the Roman people.
-An asp is a cobra, which would be wordplay for a MALE body part-Are you also aware of the fact that many histories of the ancient world concluded that Cleopatra committed suicide with the use of as asp?
Let the double entendres fly! These two talk a hot game, but so far that’s all it is: talk. How long can they hold out? Or will someone enter the Prop Room and interrupt their costume games?
Sheriff— Thanks for the warning on the “double entendres”. Puns aren’t quite there, showing that they’re really not the lowest form of humor. Near puns are.*History question. I heard that in real life, Antony & Cleopatra never met. That the Shakespeare romance was entirely fiction. Anyone know the facts?
“A lot of numerologists believe that Shakespeare had a hand in writing the King James Bible”*BS – Hey, works for me. I’ve seen “scientific studies” that were backed by even less evidence!
yeh yeh I know ..Troy was in Greece …. minor difference ( Asia Minor)…-Yeah, but Virgil, in his Aeneid, writes that Rome was founded by the Trojan Aeneas. (Altho, classically speaking, his name’s spelled “Vergil”, from “Vergilius”, it looks funny, so I used the more common spelling.)
Since ORMouseworks piqued my curiosity about that Latino comic strip, I took a peek. That is one bitter cartoonist with an even nastier mob of followers. ORMouseworks don’t do me any more favors or referrals . Luann’s followers may be long winded, and head off on tangents, but they’re generally pretty harmless. Cheers, to you.
> will they run out of costumes? and then???>Maybe the third panel in the episode below offers a clue.--They don’t call it a comic “strip” for nothing!
Yes! (re: the general culture of Latinos/Hispanics in your area). You know, all I wanted to do is learn a bit about our neighbors to the South through a comic written by someone who lives the culture. Well, that obviously Backfired Big Time! Got in a round-about as you saw… Then I made a comment (not a scholarly reference) about Latina culture and someone took me up on it, and here we go again! Personally, I don’t like the comic culture over there, and am seriously thinking of bowing out… I’ve never done that before on a Go-Comics comic (vs. an Editorial Cartoon). It seems some posters think general remarks about a topic should be referenced, looked up, etc. like posters do in the Editorial Cartoon forums. I just want to have some fun! But, not there for sure! Think I’ll stick to “Luann” and my other “fav” comics and people! ;)

Judging by the size of that phone, am I correct that the theater was once used to shoot a Tom Petty video?

No, they were married and had 3 children. The line came to an end when Caligula had his royal cousin who was descended from them killed.

BS, fascinating! Almost exactly like Shakespeare’s play. Guess mythology is backed by fact. (or are you just a good storyteller?)
