It’s a generational thing. Toni comes from a girlie-is-great, princess-loving era. Shannon has grown up in the age of zombie flicks and zombie TV. So has Brad. ;-P
Great costume! I’m just afraid the anti Brad/Toni folks will claim this as another disparity between the two, making their eventual wedding much more distant…. :-| Ugghhh!
It’s Ok for them to have differences. As long as they can communicate and compromise, and love each other anyway. I think they can. And, until I see evidence otherwise (which I haven’t seen yet). I’ll stay positive.
Toni and Brad are turning into Ozzie and Harriet. The marriage commitment has taken the tension and mystery out of their relationship. Fortunately, we still have some cliffhanger stuff like: will Rosa get pregnant? will Knute and Crystal elope? will Luann ever actually find a real guy, not just a parade of “cute” clones? will Delta “come out” of the closet? will Tiffany take a part in a porno film? Will Elwood return with a Hollywood trophy wife? will Puddles get more ink?
I hope Toni is smart enough to let Shannon pick her own costume, and not insist that Shannon wear something that Toni herself would have wanted to wear. (Besides, plenty of adults wear costumes on Halloween, so Toni can be the princess if that’s what she likes…)
We’re having a Halloween event this coming weekend at my university and I’m planning to go as Flo from the Progressive Insurance commercials! I LOVE INSURANCE! (Based on her button, of course!)
It is true. I first read about it in “The Code Book,” by Simon Singh. The capture of the Enigma machine was covered in either that book or in “The Codebreakers” by David Kahn. Both are (to me) extremely interesting, though I have absolutely no aptitude for crytography. Isn’t U-505 on display somewhere?
We have been told that Shannon’s parents are Jonah and his ex-wife. We don’t know that Shannon’s parents are Jonah and his ex-wife. So learning that Shannon is actually the daughter of Dirk and Toni would simply be discovering an old secret, rather than conducting an actual retcon of established continuity.
“Toni. Buy a couple of them for when you and Brad have a little one. Just hope it’s a girl.”.Why hope it’s a girl? I think the princess costumes would be hilarious on a boy.
Actually, Jonah cares for Shannon most of the time. We see Shannon only on the occasions when Toni is baby sitting for him. Basically, he does the same thing as all other single parents who have work and other conflicts which sometimes require leaving his daughter in the care of someone else.
I understand from the comments I’ve seen here that Tiffany once kissed Gunther, but it was before my time. I don’t remember her having a boyfriend, she just tries to steal boys from Luann. She does spend a lot of time on clothes, mirrors, and make up. I think Greg wants to show a self centered girl, unable to care for anyone else. She is capable of envy, but not love. She wants attention. She wants to be displayed.
but if it is true, it makes me wonder why the capture of an Enigma machine, when USS Guadalcanal captured the German submarine U-505, had such a remarkable effect on bringing a quick end to the war.^^Don’t let that movie fool you, it was the British Navy that captured an Enigma, not the Americans, much as the way that the USSR actually won the European side of WW2, and the USA took the credit.
Thanks for the profile on Tiffany, but I think we differ in our perception of what makes her tick. Maybe giving Bernice a make over was a nice thing that shows a glimmer of hope. She and Crystal seemed to get along, too. But, she does seem very shallow and I’d love to see Greg give her some selfless warmth, if only caring for a puppy or kitten, or even Sun’s ferret. Whatever, she is one of my favorite characters.
Thank you for that bit of information. I have read only the 2 books I mentioned, The Code Book by Simon Singh and The Codebreakers by David Kahn. May I ask where, besides Wikipedia, you found your infomation? I’m serious, I would like to read it.
Sometimes, it depends upon the subject, when it comes to Wikipedia. I have compared different articles there, on a variety of subjects, with other articles elsewhere, covering the same subject, and found that it depends on the person who edits the article. Usually, the ones dealing with culture and history coincide with other articles from different sources, but the ones that are more “subjective”, are the ones dealing with “political processes”, mostly. – Also, they have a way of “marking” which articles need to be “cleaned up”. If you’ll notice, the head moderators/administrators tag different articles with a statement “warning” the reader that there needs to be changes made to “clean up” the article, or to alert one to the need to “cite more sources”, or to change the tone to keep it factual, and not “opinion based” (usually this is found at the top of the page, if needed to be “marked”). Then a staff member or “conscientious” Wiki user (or sometimes the original person) will go back and “clean it up”…
Your knowledge of the USSR involvement is also lacking^^No, it isn’t. The Allies were most definitely losing the war until the Germans stalled near Moscow; when the Russians counterattacked, they eventually chased the Germans back to Berlin, where they encircled the last vestiges of the Hitler elite forces; Hitler knew the Russians would get to him first, which prompted him to commit suicide, knowing they would not treat him kindly, if captured.
Even though Halloween is a foreign holiday here, it’s been gaining popularity on the last years, and I also support the scary costumes on Halloween. After all, the idea is to scare the evil spirits and/or blend among them.

Way to reinforce stereotypes. She should really know better, considering her career choice.

One by one, the characters in this strip are beginning to “get” Shannon. First (no surprise) was T.J., and now Brad’s on board.

Why not both? Dress her up as a Princess Zombie.

The zombie costume would be better suited for Shannon’s idea of trick-or-treat, where the kids bite adults’ fingers off if they don’t give them candy.
