I hope everybody realizes that this whole week of episodes took maybe 20 minutes of their time—and that Gunther did not cut his lab.

Or probably that ’buying a theater situation" that TJ was mulling over after that play, for his next scheme front business venture……

Tiff knows that Gunth is a mother hen. She needs help. We can only hope Gunther gets a little help as well.

OK Gunther, time to make your move. From study buddy to (cue music) boom chicka wow wow,

If you’re going to drop a class, it HAS to be in the first few weeks. Dropping is better than failing, but it doesn’t bode well.

In college I had my own study methods. Sometimes there would be a group, but I was wary of “studying together” meaning “please tutor me”. Although teaching someone is one of the best ways to really learn.

…hmmmm. This won’t end well.

Often one week is enough to determine that this class isn’t for you. For instance, I would have reached that conclusion about Luann’s art class after the first day. But has Tiffany missed the first week of bio lab? If so, can she catch up?

Say the word “agony” out loud. Your tongue never leaves your mouth. Tiffany is flashing gratuitous tongue. Gunther looks uncomfortable, not turned on.

Is the bio lab studying oral anatomy this week? Agg! Tiffany is really leaning in on Gunther’s personal space; either he will flip for her or seek to repulse her, or just be Gunther and quiver in indecision….

Here’s an interesting thing. Tiffany says she dropped psych, because it’s ‘way too hard’, and is taking bio lab instead (presumably because bio lab is easier than psych)! In what universe or university is a science lab easier than a lecture class about social science?

OMG! this gets more weird every day! Get this guy out of her grasp before he gets in too deep. when Daddy finds out she’s changing/dropping classes after 2 weeks, he’s liable to blame it on poor Gunther

Don’t tell me Gunther will eventually hook up with Tiffany instead of Bernice???? Gunther and Bernice are more compatible.

It looks like the old Gunther is still there (the guy who gets all flustered by a woman who tries to flirt with him). So, the outer shell has changed, but the inner Gunther is still the same…

It’s funny because Tiffany is not cut out for college and yet she is being forced to go.

She really has no clue what she’s doing does she….

Having taken biology and psychology in college, Tiffany just made a big mistake.

I knew it! I knew it would come to this. Tiff wants “tutorial assistance.”

Not quite sure what she’s offering in response. In the second panel, it seems she’s proposing only that to which she is willing to commit – being “study buddies…” She seems not to propose anything more than that… which is a plus for her character. However, we do need to know what she means by “take the AGG out of Agony”in the 3rd panel (and for whom). And her “flirtatious” come on to him is most questionable.

Gunth – if I were you, I’d avoid her like the Plague. A bit difficult since you’re now both in the same class, but… Let’s put on a little of that chutzpah you’ve developed and tell her… very politely…. to BUG OFF!

Best be careful with Tiff,she could b a bit suicidal.

Wow! What a convoluted time line is going on here! This is the second week of classes?!?!? Helluva lot has happened in only two weeks.

Rosa who? Tiff has her own dorm suite, go for it Gunther.

Thank goodness this strip isn’t animated and we don’t have to see Tiff’s tongue snaking in and out of her mouth or her hand sliding where it shouldn’t.

It’s one thing to wait a year before starting college as a freshman. It’s another thing to start in the second semester. That implies that your courses last one semester and have no first-semester prerequisites. That is more nearly typical of a community college, which specializes in short courses, many of them for stand-alone straining, than in an academically prestigious college, where freshmen take courses (or sequences of one-semester courses) that span the whole year.

How come Moony Uni is so far away from the Pitts HS neighborhood that Bernice and Tiff have to live in the dorms, but Quill and Gunther can still live with Mrs. Berger? Actually, have we ever seen anyone related to Bernice, or her home or even her bedroom? We know Bernice drives and has a car. I know it’s nice to leave home and all, but that’s a big expense when not needed.

I suspect Bernice and Tiffany could commute from home, but they choose not to. Bernice is on a full scholarship, so she can spend money on room & board rather than tuition (and maybe her scholarship even covers some of that, too), and Tiffany’s Dad is a big donor to Moony, so he can afford to get Tiff her own private dorm suite. Gunther, of course, wants to live at home (for the rest of his or his Mom’s life, probably).

She just wants you for your class notes, Gunther…

Biology is harder? I can’t WAIT until her first dissection…

Any clues about Tiffany’s major? My guess she’s “undecided” and is just taking core classes now.

How are they taking a Biology lab without taking the class? Any of the science courses I’ve ever seen listed for any college (even community colleges) it’s always: Biology I lecture and lab, Anatomy and Physiology, lecture and lab, Microbiology, lecture and lab. The class counts for so many credits, and the lab counts for the rest.

In the last panel, is she trying to be Miley Cyrus?

Many here are just wasting time on trying to sort out college / university rules. I have attended a half dozen in various areas, and have taught at more. Lectured at a score more..It all varies. .Some places you can sign up for a dozen or more classes, then drop most, but continue to audit some of the others. .Some allow free audit of any class, unless the prof kicks you out. In some places you can audit and then take all the tests if you wish. A record can be made of your passing the tests, and that would allow you into more advanced classes in the field. .Many make no record of attendance. Others have scores of ‘graduate assistants’ doing all the donkey work of running things like lab classes. .It all varies. .Pitts is an imaginary place. It does not actually have to BE in California or any real world place.

Gunther, what she really wants is someone to hold her.

Many (most?) colleges don’t have “majors” for freshmen. You don’t declare a major until your second year. Dunno about Moony, of course.

I’m not sure whether she’s being nice to Gunther solely because she wants him to help her pas BIO 101 (wouldn’t put it past her), but Greg MAY be using Gunther as a tool to start humanizing Tiffany. She’ll never be smart, but she’s not so dumb that she doesn’t already know that Gunther is basically a good guy and it may end up rubbing off on her. They’re both vulnerable in different ways right now.

Naaahhh…she’s using him. What was I thinking?

I hope you’re just being tongue—in-cheek! Gunther stands to end up being a loser any angle you look at this one.

Maybe Greg has done Luann for so long now, that he wants to venture into something new. Perhaps from now on, like Gatrry Trudeau is doing with “Doonesbury”, we will see Luann only on Sundays.

You don’t suppose that he will tutor her and lo and behold both Tiff and Gunth will actually find out she has a brain! That would be a nice arc to round her out as a character with more depth.

This is also not the first time Tiffany has made this face. Seems to be her “unpleasant” face for things she finds, well… unpleasant… –

is about “not showing you are weak” frame of mind, even if she knows “Luann is better than me in acting and singing”…………no way she would admit that publicly to anyone, even her mirror reflection …..she will keep telling everyone she is the best actress and singer of the whole Pitts area

She thinks a bio lab is going to be easier than psychology?

Biology is hard science. You have to know stuff not parrot the textbook

I wonder what Tiff’s major is. Why would she even take psych or biology? Those are difficult classes, and aren’t they specialized for certain majors?

I would think Tiff would be taking a bunch of remedial math and English classes, since her grades were so abysmal in high school.

So did Tiffany know Gunther was taking bio lab? She never made a remark that she was surprised he was taking the course. I’m wondering if their initial meeting and t he compliments were just a ruse to get to agree to be lab partner s.
