Those German planes weren’t very well constructed! Where’s Tracy? Is he back in the cockpit? Will Liz, Sam, and the crew hear and feel the crash and respond quickly? Or will they continue to sit in their seats waiting for the show to resume?
Others have observed here that the comments are more entertaining than the strip. Anyone out there familiar with Mystery Science Theater 3000? The comments here are like a MST3K wiki.
Panel-Panner — That is a fun show, with Mike, Tom Servo, and Krull (sp?). There is a newer version where the three voices appear as their real selves, doing the same stuff. It’s called “The Film Crew”.
As for our story here, why don’t we see Tracy coming down with the plane? Did he suddenly jump to safety? It’s interesting how the details of the story keep changing. The only thing consistent is… inconsistency.
OneUrantian, that last robot’s name is actually Crow. Can’t say I’m familiar with “The Film Crew,” but the MST3K guys are still plying their trade here:
A line from the MST3K theme to all those who obsess over inconsistencies in DT;

I should really just relax.
For Mystery Science Theater 3000.
There is no sign of Tracy on the wing, or holding on to the cable.. I know Tracy couldn’t have taken to the air for his saftey, because chickens are incapable of flight.
Not true in Tracy’s case: the helium in his skull is lighter than air. All he has to do is kick off the shoes, the leaded soles of which keep him on the ground.
Are the two panels supposed to depict the same plane? In addition to the location of wing relative to stripe (which clevitekid pointed out), we have radically different control surfaces, propellers, engine air intakes, fuselage shape and material (panel 1: cylindrical, made of metal panels riveted together; panel 2: tapered, seemingly made of a single piece of plastic, like DL’s model kit), cockpit and wing configurations. Not to mention the speed lines becoming stink lines (good one, Panel-Panner). My conclusion: tomorrow we’ll discover that the Stuka is still in mid-fall, while the plane that nails Anja Nu is from a different exhibit and is being flown by Lizz. She’ll climb (unscathed, of course) from the wreckage, light up a cigarette and retrieve the quivering Tracy from his precarious perch, dangling at the end of the broken cable (and yes, I know, he’s not there in today’s strip. But Tracy follows his own laws of physics).
I predict Tracy will survive the crash landing the same way Bumfukistani cosmonauts land their space capsules – exactly at the moment the craft strikes the ground, he will jump off. Since he can only jump maybe five or six feet in the air, and a fall from five or six feet is no big deal, he will land unharmed. No parachute is necessary.

Rightwingmoron: actually chickens can fly. They are incapable of SUSTAINED flight. They can fly well enough to get away from a predator, but can’t keep it up for very long. If you saw the episode of Dirty Jobs this past season where Mike helped the Miami authorities capture feral chickens, you would have no doubt as to their ability to fly.
All of this has nothing do do with Tracy, however. He is behaving like a coward and appears to have flown the coop. Don’t worry, though. By tomorrow he’ll be either sitting on top of the wreckage or hanging from the cable.
Am I the only one left who’s concerned about the dead guy who, presumably,is still prone on the stage, dead? Has Liz noticed the dead guy hasn’t moved? And what about Sam. Is he pretending to be asleep so he won’t have to participate in this lame strip?
The Stuka completes its fatal drop
And Anja gets sliced by the prop
With a resounding crash
She’s knocked down and smashed
Never again will she be able to direct
Well, maybe in hell, I do suspect
Tracy has made his great escape
By leaping onto a convenient drape
A feat that is beyond astounding
As again logic takes a pounding
From the beginning it has been confused
And our credulity has been abused
So many questions left in the air
For this strip, that’s standard fare
No answers will have we
That’s plain for all to see
And the improbable ending
Will of course be mind-bending.
It’s so obvious what happened here–Tracy used his heat vision to break the cable, then used his Spidey powers to jump up and adhere to the ceiling. Now don’t you all feel silly for questioning Locher?
If Tracy survives this (or maybe even if he doesn’t), the rock through his window & sign on his lawn will be traced to Anja Nu, with explanations that will having us saying, “WHY didn’t I see THAT coming?”
Then again, monkeys may fly out of our butts, too…
Macy’ll come floating down in a parachute. Liz(z) is probably still amused by the popcorn trick, looking for the toy in the bottom. And Pat Patton is admiring his retirement watch that used to be Macy’s, until Liz(z) discovered he was to stupid to use and appreciate it. So, she gave it to Pat.
interesting that the Stuka Broke up so easily. They were meant to land on grass fields. Grass fields are notoriously uneven and provide a wicked shaking to plane and pilot. This one was either assembled from factory plans by a bunch of monkeys, fragile with age, or helped to disintegrate.
If anyone missed it, check out this past Sunday’s strip…

Great action that not only sums up the week, but adds a dramatic cliff-hanger! And just about the BEST use of color that we have seen in a long time.
And with the last panel of Sunday’s strip used as the start of a new week’s worth of story, we get the chance to see the last dramatic panel in black and white format and check out how the use of color and shadow helped enhance it in the Sunday, the day before.

Anja Nu wanted to kill them for ruining her show by leaving tne stage.
Obviously they really got her P. Oed.

Panel 1: Streak lines behind the wings indicate how the plane is falling straight down.
Panel 2: Wiggly lines behind the wings indicate a bad smell. Did the Stuka krap its pants when it hit the floor and died?
I’m more upset about the Stuka crashing than Tracy being hurt. Now that’s what I call characterization!
shirttailslim over 14 years ago
Okay, let’s see now? A: Cable broke, Probably made in China.
B: The cockpit is closed and unbroken. Makers must have missed what’s taken place over the past….How long has it been?
C: Plane hits, canopy open or gone.
D; Why am I wasting our time ???

If that is Anja Nu under the plane, she had to run to get there. As she was standing at an angle away from it to shoot Tracy.

Marg, “…(unlike the Stuka)” Oh, funny!! And pithy, as usual. Personally, I think the plane is well drawn today, continuity issues notwithstanding.
