“What’s wrong with this picture?” Is it:(A) It’s raining, and everyone is fighting the urge to dry off(B) Viper is trying to do too much at one time, holding an umbrella over Hair, trying to sing Karaoke, and playing “what is the sound of one hand clapping? (♪)”( C ) That Hair’s hair is still long and “Fabio-like” in the rain(D) That Gunther is secretly hiding the fact that he has no musical rhythm, by being gallant towards Tiffany( E) That Tiffany is fighting the urge to be repulsed by then fibers of the sweater, as they don’t blend well with her dress (F) Piro knows something the rest don’t, that his scarf works as an umbrella, right from the comfort of his neck(G) That Bernice can only sit at an incline that’s greater than 90 degrees(H) That Dez…well, we’ll skip over her…(I) That that guy with the barbecue pit with fire, unquenched by the rain, and probably using water based charcoal…is actually grilling a non regulation hot dog(J) The girl next to him is raising her hand, and no one is bothering to acknoledge her?(K) That I can’t see their faces, so I must assume that they don’t have one(L) That all the calling Hair and others did, only netted two extra persons(M) I don’t see any cats or dogs or English guys holding umbrellas falling, yet?

Good way to ruin drums…

Oh hey look we have the backs of the heads of two new characters! This proves all you haters who said Evans couldn’t think up more than four or five characters were wrong. Yah boo sucks, hnyuck hnyuck hnyuck, etc.

I assume that’s Sun whom we see from behind? And who invited Gunther (and why)? Maybe he will get electrocuted when he tries to sing Karaoke in the rain.

It’s good that Greg is now producing drums (his name is on the one that Hair is playing.)

This doesn’t look like any drum circle I’ve ever seen, but I guess they do them differently in Pitts.

I’m just relieved that Bernice was not left all by herself, laughing crazily…

What a fun and spontaneous moment for the cast! I totally love Gunther showing up to act the gallant gentleman to Tiff, and Bernice happily banging the drums looking sober enough:) For a moment I admit I thought Dez had drugged Bernice to throw the party in spite of her, but all along she planned to move it outside where it wouldn’t be a problem at all My respect for Dez has gone up a lot, she solved Bernice’s problem, and everyone had a good time while she was at it!

Who are they all going to be complaining to if they catch colds?

Uh – Tiff’s expression – sadly may indicate she’s had enough of Gunther and wanted to party with – someone nearby.

actually Tiff expression seems much warmer than someone moving on..more like she’s happy that Gunther stil likes her even if nothing developed. Tiff isn’t used to that.

O good grief! Tiff did call Gunther, as I said yesterday, but I didn’t expect her to go out in the rain for a party even under an umbrella!

Where did Gunther come from?

A drum circle in the rain, and no one’s drinking. Yeah, that’s college life, all right.

Gunther doesn’t live in this dorm (or on campus at all), so very likely the only people he knows here well enough to invite him are Tiffany and Bernice. Bernice didn’t even want there to be a party, so she certainly didn’t do it. But why would Tiffany? She obviously wanted to meet fun new guys, as we saw when Piro showed up, so why would she want dreary old G-man hanging around?

Luann didn’t seem to be especially impressed when she saw Gunther starkers.

Why the Karaoke machine? Not only is it a serious electrical hazard in the rain, but musically, it seems completely out of place in a drum circle. How does this make any sense?

Do these students ever study?

Gunther is a gentleman and Tiffany appears to be likeing it!

The next morning, Bernice is going to be passed out next to the candybar machine with twenty empty snickers wrappers scattered around her.

The drum circle in the rain seems to be turning out to be fairly successful! There is a fire-pit and food, the drums are (so far) not soaked, and, most surprisingly, Gunther has showed up out of nowhere to minister to Tiffany (whose reaction is shyly cautious). Even Bernice seems more in control of herself now!

Awwww! Tiff and Gunther. That’s sweet.

All those…moments, will be lost, in time, like…hot dogs in the rain.

Once again Gunther saves the day and Tiffany only has eyes for him. But, this time they’re in the shower “together”…….will they again share a “moment?”

And Bernice has come down from her brownie buzz.

OMG!!! Gunther is playing the drums, next to Tiffany who is obviously loving the attention he is giving her. Bernice seems to be enjoying herself, and they are not doing all this noise in the room. In fact in the rain, and they seem to having a blast. WOW. Gunther and TIffany, who would have thunk!! And Greg what a nice save on the ethics of getting someone high without their knowledge or consent. I love this strip!!

And Here You Have the FUTURE of America: A Group of College Students that DON’T Have the Good Sense to Come In Out of the Rain.

But There MAY be a “Teachable Moment” Here, as these “Kids” May Learn Why You Don’t Stick Metal Objects Up in the Sky During a Thunder Storm….,

Bernice is playing the bongos I notice, and someone is maintaining a fire? The point is, this does not violate any of the rules that Bernice was trying to enforce, since its outside, and they are having fun, which is part of college, or should be.

Tiff’s expression is pure bafflement that someone is actually doing something nice for her out of the kindness of their heart.

No instruments but voices and drums? Maybe…..

Nice drawing and composition. Gunther and Tiff are the main focal point and “their” focus is on each other. Maybe after this shower they’ll be sharing matching robes. Something is building to the primitive beating of drums, they can’t just wander off on their separate ways.

The hot weather here in Sacramento gave the building manager the idea to turn the air conditioning down to 50 degrees. Luann must not be in California after all. We haven’t seen rain in months.

And some Gunther and Tiff development???? :-)

There really is only one point of interest in the picture, gunth and tiff. They may have decided not to pursue a relationship but I’m not sure that that is going to last.

I just love the fact that this strip shows a very diverse group coming together. Even Tiffany is finding a way to be part of it. I love the idea of her potentially 1) loosening up and not being such a Kardashian all the time, and 2) maybe moving into a relationship with Gunther. And it’s nice to see Bern loosen up, too, even if it is partially chemially-induced. Everyone is growing up and out.

Nice to see the Gunther/Tiffany tease. I wonder how that will survive when Rosa returns…..?

Gunther, I bet her legs are cold. A true gentleman would give her his pants as well. :)

What a quick and efficient way to ruin the drums! Not to mention the utter genius of leaving the karaoke machine on the rain soaked ground. Fire pit in the rain to boot? No wonder they’re college students, brightest of the bunch, eh?

I have been away a few days, so I have a lot to catch up on in regards to comments, but I will attempt to be brief:1) Having never yet partaken of the “greener leaf” myself, neither in brownie form nor in the bowl of my pipe…. I unfortunately do not have a good reference point on how indulging would cause Bernice to act….. BUT it seems to me that in yesterday’s comic and also the one the day before that showed Bernice shedding copious tears while she was feeling the effects of the greener leaf. To me, that seems to be a very unlikely sort of response. It is not one that I have ever heard people suggest as occurring. For this reason, I am of the opinion that there isn’t any marijuana in the brownies that Bernice has consumed.2) I would not think that Dez would deceive Bernice and feed her a marijuana laced brownie without Bernice knowing of the marijuana inside. Therefore, I am of the opinion that a) probably there is no marijuana in the brownies that Dez made, or(much less likely) that if there was marijuana in the brownies, then Bernice KNEW there was, and chose to eat them.3) In today’s comic, I do agree with others that think the character we see from the back of the head (the one on the left) is probably “the new” Sun. My question is, will we see her face in this arc, and if so, will “the new” Sun be a) the same as before, b) drastically different ( so much so that people may suggest she had botox and plastic surgery like the Real Housewives of Orange County, or c) look mostly the same with just a slight change to her eyes to appease the people who were complaining a lot previously?4)I like the shown interaction between Gunther and TIffany. I wonder how Gunther knew of the Drum Party? Was he already at the dorm? Did he get called to join at the last minute? 5) It is interesting to note that some characters don’t appear to give a damn that it is raining. No umbrella for Piro, Dez, “the new” Sun, and whoever that person is with the blue baseball cap. Any guesses or opinions on who “blue hat” is? I was going to suggest Michael Nesmith, but his hat was green and more like the knit hat “Emo-dude” wears in Luann’s art class. 6) I guess the rain must be really bad… because the fire pit has just the tiniest bit of flame… it is mostly looking wet and out.*****************************Overall, I like this arc! I do apologize, I did not attain my goal of brevity. But, oh well. :)

For Heaven’s sake, whose idea is it that Gunther and Tiffany made a good couple? These two people have absolutely nothing in common, and we already saw where that leads (i.e., Peru). Let Gunther start dating Sun and let Tiffany go out with Piro. Those two new characters are really not well developed yet, so they can be made into suitable matches for G & T. But “Gunthany” is a pairing that makes absolutely no sense. It basically undoes everything we’ve been told to think about these people. Are the Evanses ready essentially to dismantle the strip, for that?

I’m cheering for Gregg to bring Sun back in. He can do it..And I hope the guy next to her with the wiener is going to appear in full frontal. .We need new characters.

It’s a little different out here in Sacramento – yesterday it was 101, today it was 103, tomorrow it will be 105 to 106, and Friday it will be 106 to 108 degrees…-———————————-About 15-20 degrees cooler in Santa Monica, but STIFLING humidity. Also, my apt has no AC.

Yeah, but the heat is horrendous, and it’s not a nice cool rain, but just hot and humid and so uncomfortable. And the mosquitoes, omg. Reminds me of my childhood summers in New Jersey. Yesterday evening when I picked up my daughter at school in Kearny Mesa at 7:00 p the thermometer said 100 degrees. This weather is really a misery, but I am extremely grateful for any little bit of rain we get.

Heh, heh, and the one line that doesn’t fit (them, at least), from that song, is “(♪)….seeking shelter from the storm… (♪)”

“Rainy Day Feeling”^I’d go with that one. “Sweater Is Better…” is catchy and not something you hear, too often. Except if you’re standing next to “Fredward Benson’s Mother”…..

“Fool In The Rain” by Zep seems to also come to mind, as it is a rather catchy tune, and the lyrics paint a rather funny story, a sort of comedic and a “duh!” moment for the “fool” in question, seeking the whereabouts of his “no show” date…only of course, she did show…

The reason they don’t see it as racism is because they are racists. Yes, it’s really just that simple.
