February was chosen so that Karen would have six weeks to think of a way out of this convoluted story arc.

Such vitriol for a comic strip. Such hate!! Nancy calls this guy an “odd little man” and she is a jerk? He is an odd little man. What he wants will turn out to be benign IMO, but then I am an optimistic kind of person. I think its a bit far out there to get into such negativity about a comic strip character. Moreover, as I keep saying, this is an imaginary world, that has the capacity for all kinds of story lines, which would not be the way it is in real life. God, there is enough real-life all around us. Riffing on what makes sense in terms of what he might want in return brings real world thinking to an imaginary world as if that were the way to decide plot lines in that world. Like a Tom Cruise movie, or Fast n Furious, or Star Wars, where humans can fly through trillions of miles of outer space in a few hours and cross a galaxy. Makes for a great story, but scientifically it is impossible in real life, at least in current technology. I mean I respect an contrarian point of view, but being so hypercritical and personal on major characters in a beloved comic is beyond me. Maybe is just me. No harm meant, but I just needed to vent when I encounter such relentless negativity.

Way #1: Mr. Gray demands that the DeGroots repay him more money than they can afford, lest his criminal associates from Las Vegas become involved in the transaction.

Way #2: Mr. Gray demands that the DeGroots and TJ arrange for himself and Mrs. Berger to have a romantic dinner at The Fuse on Valentine’s Day.

Frank and Nancy may imagine that Way #1 is going to be Mr. Gray’s demand, but Way #2 seems a lot more likely to actually happen.

Marry him, or ask him to adopt you. Heck, he’d probably volunteer.

Just remember I have done you a service. One day, and that day will be in Fenruary, I will ask you to repay me. -The Godfather, modest paraphrase…

Mr. Gray is going to marry Gunther’s mom in February and he wants to have the reception at The Fuse.

Mr. Gray have already said he does it for free. Most likely in February he’ll ask for a favor; something easy to do for DeGroots, which means a lot to Mr. Gray.

Valentine’s Day in February. Mr. Gray wants to hold his wedding to Gunther’s Mom at the new place.

They should talk to Gunther’s mom. She might be able to shed some light on this little fellow who seems to be angling for a cut of the pie – a large cut.

There seems to be an extreme amount of hostility toward Karen Evans here. While I am certainly not surprised by the intensity of the hatred of this group of “fans”, I don’t understand it.

And tell Nancy to keep her opinion out of Mr. Gray’s hearing; wouldn’t want to see him angry, would we?I tend, however, to think that those who suggest a St. Valentine’s Day wedding, or proposal, to Mrs. Berger are more likely to be correct. Surely we don’t want to recall the infamous Chicago gangland St. Valentine’s Day Massacre.

I wonder how Mr. Gray and Gunther’s mother are getting along.

In February, Mr. Gray will make the DeGroots an offer they can’t refuse!

But knowing how the Luann Universe works that offer will be that he is retiring in February and wants to work at The Fuse to keep himself busy for little or nothing/free.

Love him or fear him?!? The DeGroots will have at least 50 days to think about what he meant – 50 shades of Gray…

I also vote for him wanting to use The Fuse for his wedding to Gunther’s mom. But what will be the other way, I wonder?

He is going to propose to Gunther’s mom on Valentines day, at a romantic dinner at the Fuse. Luann will think it’s sooo romantic, Gunther will be there on a date with either Tiffany or Bernice, and will blow his stack.

C’mon guys. Nothing is “free”. You’re old enough to know that!

February is Washington’s Birthday, Lincoln’s Birthday, Valentine’s Day, Mardi Gras. Does he too want to use the venue for a wedding?

Mr. Gray wants to ask Mrs. Berger to marry him, and he wants Frank and Nancy’s help in setting up the perfect opportunity. At a play in Fair Oaks, California, the prince really did ask the princess to marry him, and she said, “Yes!”

Ist could be that he just wants to impress Gunther’s mom or something but he definitely comes off as creepy.. Are we being mean? Lol

So they let Mr. Gray work for free for months . . .-——————————————————————-They did ask about paying Mr Gray back when he took control of the building repair & Quill contacted Pru who (according to Quill) was going to donate her play & services. Yes, they did consider charging her for room & board but quickly relented realizing the error of their ways.

Another Friday has befallen us, enjoy it as you prepare for the weekend & we wonder the outcome of February. I hope it is a February in our year & not one in Luanniverse as that could take some time to reach!

Expect a wedding.

So the next logical question is… if Mr. Gray will be using the Fuse for his wedding to Mrs. Berger in February, which seems likely — will that be the spark needed to get Brad and Toni to actually move on their wedding? Will they reconsider their ill-conceived planned 9-11 wedding date and instead piggy-back on the Gray/Berger nuptials?

Should I be a little worried about this?

As the anniversary of the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre draws nearer, I’m sure we shall see more strips featuring the brick wall we saw yesterday, and Mr. Gray will book a performance by a musical group carrying a large number of violin cases.

Betcha there’s gonna be a proposal involved with this…

Mr. Gray can ask for any repayment he wants. But with nothing in writing he won’t get anything unless the Degroots feel like it. They can claim he did everything as a favor to them. The time to negotiate is BEFORE the deal, not AFTER.

If the Fuse is so successful it would be booked in advance for events. You couldn’t just say in February that you wanted it for next weekend for a wedding. It would already be reserved, so NO surprise weddings.

I am sometimes confused by the order that posted comments appear here. One comment that is responding to another will actually appear before the one responded to. That happened today (or, at least, this is the way they appear on my screen) when one poster questioned why another was calling the character Nancy a ‘jerk’ because she had described Mr. Grey as ‘an odd little man’.

Does anyone understand why comments appear out of order this way? I am just curious.

He is from Las Vegas…

We’re all predicting marriage, so his real motive has to be something sinister. Like using them as a front to buy the land next door to develop into a casino or brothel.

Why do I complain? Why does anyone complain?

We have some assurance that Greg and Karen do read the comments. I presume they want readers to be satisfied with the strip and that’s why they read the comments.

If they don’t hear from the fans who have difficulty with the way some story arcs disappear without resolution and others that drag on forever, twisting and turning beyond even the “suspension of belief” that goes along with it being a comic strip, how are they to know where they need to focus in the future?

I am also amazed at the reactions by some to the negative criticism. It’s not as if we threatened to go to San Diego and confront them face to face (which I’d never do anyway because they deserve their privacy just as anyone else does). Do you see any hostility in my comments? Some tongue-in-cheek sarcasm at times, but …

After that, Mr. Grey will move to Peru where he will team up with Rosa’s uncle. Together they will buy the patent on Abilify and raise the price by 8000%.

Brdshtt…. I think shaving (by your own hand or a robot’s) is highly overrated and would avoid it at any cost in either scenario!I have stopped shaved my beard or mustache so many decades ago that my wife nor any of my kids have ever seen me without the beard and mustache. :)

I think he wants a to marry Gunther’s mother on Valentine’s Day. Nothing ominous. This is Luann not Rip Haywire.

I think the marriage part is pre-mature but that Mr. Gray just wants to do something nice for Mrs. Berger on Valentine’s Day (to show that he is serious) maybe take her out to dinner. He doesn’t have strong social skills and needs a little advice on how to treat a woman. He may also want advice on how to approach Gunther. I think folks are right in that he may ultimately want to marry Mrs. Berger. He may ask Nancy and Frank to do a little investigative work to find out what she thinks.

Looks like the Holiday show is about to start. I thought it might happen next week.

I think Mr. Gray may figure that the way to Mrs. Berger’s heart is through Gunther (who is her pride and joy and mama’s boy) and the way to Gunther is through his circle of friends. He isn’t good at approaching people one-on-one so he has to take another route; become invaluable to the success of the FUSE via his $ and connections. The idea is that when Gunther sees that all his friends like and appreciate Mr. Gray, maybe he will too.

I figure Mr. Gray is a successful businessman because he is emotionless. He makes deals and $ off of others, executes tasks etc. with no feelings. He is successful financially but has no friends. This needs to change if he wants to have a relationship with anyone.

I wonder if Mr. Gray is Gunther’s long lost father coming back to “do the right thing?” Of course Gunther didn’t get his hair from him, but maybe Mr. Gray’s unmentioned first name is actually “Gunther”.

Enough of the suspicions. Two things: Frank, will you be my best man? Nancy, will you be Ms. G’s matron of honor?

I can give him credit- I actually appreciate his “unorthodox-y”. He seems to provide a nice counterbalance to everyone else, especially Gunther and Crystal. – Strangely, there are times he seems to have a good point in some situations…though (sort of like me), he prefers the “scenic route” to get there…

Good thing Leslie’s not savvy enough to try to dupe people into “buying” Adele tickets…

That’s my guess. Lately, things like the show have just been backdrop for the characters’ emotions. I think we’ve seen all we’re going to see of the show.

Wowzer! That is really not the kind of comment I expect to read on a comic strip. First of all, it’s not an insult to him if it wasn’t said TO him; it’s just her opinion and she’s entitled to express it to her husband. Second of all, they DID DO IT, with the help of others, who also benefit from what has been created – it was their idea and they bought the building, after all. I hope you aren’t like this with your family and friends this holiday season. We need more positivity nowadays.
