This would be a good time for Piro to say he doesn’t want either Tiffany or Bernice.

He just wants a nice quiet place to crash.

Bernice is so far off in her ability to read what is really going on, or at least she is in this whole arc. She was way off on Luann and Quill, way off on Gunther and Tiffany, even though Gunther tried, not successfully to tell her what the real deal is with him and Tiffany, and she is still way off, because Gunther is interested in her, but she has no clue. Now here comes Piro, looking pretty good if you look closely.

Why would she think that Gunther would have any interest, in Tiff? Unless he’s looking for a new source of fresh air… in her head….

The dice are rolling off the table. I had so much hope for Gunther & Tiffany. She actually seemed like a different person around Gunther – no one else could do that. We don’t know if Piro likes anybody – if so – it would be Luann…

Now is when that the fact Piro slept at Bernice’s comes out. I want to see Bernice’s chagrin and possible denial. Please, let Tiffany hear it, too. Wake up little Susie, indeed.

I hope this parship storyline would have more Pep and Gunther go trying with Tiff and Bern is trying to get along with Piro.That so different kind of people work we already seen with Knute and Crystal.

Bernice really can’t see the trees for the forest. It will still be interesting to see what Piro is really all about. I don’t think we even have a clue yet what’s up with him. This is the first time I remember him carrying a book bag though.

@Argythree – Piro was in the art class with Luann. When the big guy asked Luann out, Piro noted that Luann had a boyfriend – he must have been paying some attention to her. Luann hangs with her friends at Mooney – and she’s now unattached. I think a Luann & Piro arc would add some fresh energy to the scene – as we find out more about Piro.

Wouldn’t Piro’s fancy haircut be very expensive?

Bernice wants to transform a purely theoretical double-triangle situation into a tangible two-couple pairing.

I wonder if Piro’s unfinished comment about his car was different than expected. He has a surfeit of scarves, well maintained and flattering wardrobe, expensive to maintain hair style choice (How often does it need shaving, for example?). I think there will be some surprises about him forthcoming. Personally, i have wondered if he might be in the Knox family, have wondered if he might be a grad student working on a masters project on something like altrism, trust, or generosity, among other possibilities. Like others i considered homeless vet, but in my assessment i think that might be looking less likely, though i certainly coukd be wrong. Also, i think he might get close to Bernice and Tiffany, but not in the ways Bernice thinks. He might wind up helping them shape their paths. Just guesses…

I like the way Piro’s speech bubble is an appropriate shade of gray. Nearly everything about this guy is mysterious so far.

Hopefully we can find out something about Piro.

You know, dumpster diving.

Bernice is like those irritating people back in ones youth. You can explain and explain that you only want to be friends with that person you like to talk to, study with, laugh with, etc., but they continue to insist that you want that person to be more than that. They actually believe it, from their perspective, looking on at two people who know they are just friends. Those are the ones who are so irritating that others push them away.

All shall be made clear!

I just want to say I’m glad a friend directed me to this site. My local paper picked up Luann after Stone Soup ended new daily strips, then dropped it this week just as I was getting addicted (for lack of a better term). I suspect, being from the “conservative” Midwest, it was due to Pru declaring her sexual orientation.

Bern didn’t want to go to a campus café with Gunther (possibly) because she didn’t want other students or even Piro (if he’s a student) to misinterpret the situation. But there was a risk in bringing him back to her room… and this was it.

Piro is a total fox!

Bernie is right about one thing: Gunther has an admirer and potential girlfriend in Tiffany yet doesn’t even realize it. Piro is not really a rival, but Gunther doesn’t realize that, either. He is interested in Bernice, but for now she is not interested in him. Piro, so far as we know, wants nothing but a place to sleep….

Goofy speculations

1) Bern may have bought a similar scarf in honor of their not so special night.

2) “It does you credit Bernice that you are attracted to Piro but he is your long lost half brother” Obi Wan says this.

3) Piro is Mr. Gray’s estranged son.

4) This is not a chance meeting, which explains why Bern didn’t go with Gunther’s suggestion of campus cafe.

Bernice is a terrible listener. Unless my memory is playing tricks on me, this is not the first time Gunther has tried to express his interest and she ignored it.

The “Hey” could just be Piro recognizing that Bern is wearing his scarf that he thought was lost.

If Gunther ends up wearing a scarf, too, he should be sent over to the “Born Loser” comic strip for punishment. I want him to climb Mt. Tiffany.

The part I think everyone is missing is — why is Bernice taking so much interest in Gunther’s love life? I see only two explanations:

1) She’s interested in Gunther and is trying to hide it by deflecting his affection elsewhere.

2) She KNOWS he’s interested in her and doesn’t feel the same way. Thus she’s trying to connect him with Tiff out of a sense of guilt.

I don’t think she’s as clueless as people say. She knows she’s stuck in a “love rectangle” and she’s trying to solve it, which is only going to make things worse (naturally).

Quick note: i think Piro is saying “hey” just as “hello” rather than as an exclamation leading to something else. That has been common for decades in some states.
