Lupin: Tonight we discuss "Vacuum Cleaner Preparedness." Where will YOU be when the vacuum cleaner strikes? Elvis: It's a troubling statistic Lupin. This year POSSIBLY TRILLIONS of cats will be caught unaware by the vacuum cleaner. Elvis: Preparation is the only thing keeping you from being sucked into disaster! Puck: If a vacuum cleaners appears, seek shelter IMMEDIATELY. Puck: Remember: "If it's not a broom, leave the room." Elvis: Lupin, what should cats keep on paw in case they need to take shelter? Lupin: Food and water, Elvis. Litter, if there's time. Elvis: One reason cupboards make excellent shelter. Lupin, how long should cats be prepared to wait out the vacuum? Lupin: Minimum: Forever. Puck: Family drills are helpful. Puck: But make me nervous- Elvis: GO! GO! (TWEET) Elvis: This is the CN news crew, reminding you that vacuum cleaner preparedness is every cat's responsibility! Lupin: What we need under the bed is ham....

The Goddess Who Walks Among Us in our household is not exactly afraid of the vacuum, but she does not like it to come too close to her. She doesn’t run, but does move away in a dignified manner.

If I so much as touch the handle of the thing they run away like crazy from whatever they are doing.

My Chi-Chi LOVES the vacuum. He also loves it when I use it on him! (Don’t worry, I use the attachment on him, not the big bulky rolling part on the floor, or my hand-held vacuum.)

I had one cat who would actually attack the vacuum cleaner! She was a little nuts, and that’s why I loved her.

Prepare now. The dust covers on the bottoms of mattresses and sofas are easily opened with cat claws and provide quick emergency exits and hours of comfortable kitty cave safety from vacuums, strangers, and strangers with vacuums.

I can see the cats dragging a ham under the bed! The man and woman will never understand.

I had two cats who drug a defrosting roast off the counter and across the room. But instead of saving it for a rainy day,, they gnawed the defrosted part and abandoned the rest.“on the other paw” LOL

I LOVE Elvis’ whistle. It reminds me of an episode of Monk where some benighted soul gave him a whistle which, being Monk, he used to distraction.

I’m lucky my cat isn’t bothered by the vacuum. >^..^<

Vacuum cleaners are dangerous. One of my own cats got a nasty wound because she was frightened by a vacuum cleaner. I had to rearrange my bedroom after that so it couldn’t happen again.

My Sammy keeps a respectful distance but isn’t terrified of the vacuum. Dean on the other hand comes running to be vacuumed with the attachment ☺

Now our late beloved Pauline would challenge the vacuum cleaner. She’d stalk it, rush out whap it with one paw and run away. It never caught her.

I note the reference to ham in the last panel. The one human food that most of the cats I’ve had can be tempted with is ham!

Cat put an enormous stash of stuff under the guest bed because no one ever looked there. Including her shield for Woody that she had whittled a few years ago, and the screwdriver she whittled it with. (Yeah. Watch my stuff.)
