Toni: Just remember, Shannon adores you. It's obvious you'll be a great dad someday. Brad: Someday. Toni: We did agree to wait awhile. Brad: Right. And while we wait, we can practice. Toni: you mean by having Shannon around more? Brad: sure. just not during practice time...

After all that Toni is talking about having Shannon around MORE often? Wow…

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say Shannon will eventually be the one to put Fishbait in his place. She’ll make some incredibly perceptive remark that finally blows right through all his self-deception. She’ll let him know she sees perfectly clearly that Brad is doing the work of being a father, while Fishbait shows up long enough to take the credit, before running off again.
May take a while, but my money’s on Shannon.

If Jonah gets his big break, Shannon will definitely be around a lot more. Like, the whole time.

@Mikeyj
The idea that Seismic and you both agree on (Jonah just sort of disappears into the ether of some long-term acting gig far away.) is very, very possible, I agree.
But, in thinking about it as a story arc, I am not sure how well that would be able to play out in the Luannuverse. It would end up causing all sorts of potential problems of its own. Medical issues, school issues, etc would need a parent or legal guardian to handle. I do not know if Toni and Brad just “taking care of” Shannon in the long term would allow them to handle those sorts of situations.
Never having been involved in an instance of someone being the legal guardian of a child, I am not sure how that works, however. Perhaps there is some way Jonah can remain the “Dad” and Toni and Brad can be “legal guardians”. I don’t really know.^^I always figured that Jonah would get a job with a travelling show and ask Brad/Toni to be her temporary legal guardians , and from then on, we’d basically see him on the rare occasions, that he came home to Pittsville, to try and borrow money from his Sister and Brother in law; prompting them to sue for permanent legal guardianship, of Shannon (Meaning they might have to have Jonah declared an unfit parent!).

I have a feeling Brad is not a virgen anymore.

It’s possible that, just like in November of 2013, they could be talking about future plans- placing themselves in a time machine, so to speak, of how they will act as husband and wife, since they’ve been so far talking about the potential issues in dealing with in-laws…or at least of one, in particular.
-Boy, they are probably going to need a security system just for the bedroom, though….after all, Shannon had picked up the knack for opening even a busted lock, with a credit card…..

Yeah, enough of this. Let’s get back to Les and the money scam. I still want to know what Mr. Grey’s position is on all this. He agitated for Frank and Nancy to hire Les, then insisted that Les not quit. He’s got to be aware that something is fishy with the “charity” donations, and I, at least, find it hard to believe that he’s unaware of Les nicking tips from other servers.
Is it going to be Pru who fixes things with Les?
What was Uncle Al thinking? Will we ever know? This is going to bother me a lot more than missing the Yule Daze and the Talent shows.
Please don’t tell me “It’s just a comic strip”. Writers who set up complex ethical situations to tantalize the readers, and then just walk away from the situations they’ve set up are called “crummy writers”. I don’t want to put the Evanses in that category — and please note I haven’t done so yet.

Practice time? Sounds good. Closer thing to what most engaged couples do a lot of anyway, before they get married and they end up practicing a lot less, especially when babies result. Of course with all that practice, babies often do result. As far as Shannon, I think Brad and Toni will continue to have quite a bit to do with her life. The other side of the worry that some of us express about it being a problem between Toni and Brad, is that she would have to know and appreciate the interest in her niece Brad has, and what a good job he does. It says a lot about his character.

I am among those who do not see Brad’s reaction to Jonah as being based in hatred. Frustration? Yes. Distrust? Highly likely. Exasperation? Oh, yeah.

Maybe a problem, Toni wants to wait to have kids and Brad will want to have one right away. Hope Toni doesn’t chicken out of the wedding. Maybe Shannon will be the answer to Toni’s wanting to wait as Shannon will keep Brad busy. I think he now realizes he wants to be a Dad!

The “wait a while” comment of Toni’s may have a lot to do with the fact that the Evans haven’t figured out how to time a pregnancy in Luanniverse time. Toni could end up pregnant for three years. Then how quickly would the baby mature? In the Stone Soup strip Joan gave birth about 6 years ago (maybe more) in our time and Luci (the baby) is still a baby w/ pacifier and wearing a snuggly suit.

We all know Brad and Toni have been getting their freak on for some time now. It’s just that they usually don’t discuss it in public as they are doing today! As for Jonah, his antics will probably continue at least until after Brad and Toni wed.Meanwhile, back at the Fuse….

While joking about it, I am pretty sure Brad understands simply having carnal relations is not REALLY practice for being parents. If it were, gigolos and streetwalkers would make the best parents..Instead, you practice being a parent by being a parent. In Brad and Toni’s lives that includes parenting Shannon. In Luann’s life that includes caring for Shannon and working with those kids..It isn’t everything, but it is part of it.

So Brad goes from rage and self-pity to flirtatious mode. GROSSAnd his mother would not approve—nothing till marriage, remember?
Airman over 8 years ago
This strip always sails on reasonably calm waters. Other than TJ’s meals on wheels blowing up, nothing explosive happens. Rosa leads Gunther to Peru, nothing happens, and Gunther comes home with a beard, an attitude, and a taste for new clothes. Gunther and Tiffany have what Tiffany calls “a moment”, but we never see or know what that moment was. Luann and Quill are on Luann’s bed, and Quill gets a phone call. Bernice (alias Margo Phelps) rejects Gunther, and goes after Piro………also a dead end. Now if Pru would hit on her, we could really stir up some waves. Only Frank, that lucky guy, gets a lot of suggested action with Nancy. Just another, hot, endless, boring summer.

At that age and stage of life,Toni should be more interested in romance and adventure, not how much time she can spend with her niece. Doesn’t she think that Brad would rather go to the movies and see Jason Bourne rather than Finding Dory with Shannon sitting between them? I mean will it be white water rafting or staying home giving the kid a bubble bath and reading her a night time story? Oh well, at least Greg’s drawing is good.
