Luann sure is stoked about becoming a sister-in-law.

eh – not so excited about that ahem first draft. But maybe it’s charm is being lost in the translation…
Also curious as to why Luann is taking a second art class – from Zebo, no less. Unless maybe she’s starting to think she might want to major in art?

I am sure Bòzò will be looking for something a little more ‘off the wall’ than a simple dress. Something to give her that “oneness”. Perhaps something closer to the abomination Gunther made her for the beauty pageant. I posted the strips of that dress a little over a week ago.

Well, I guess Luann is repeating her (Freshman? Sophomore?) year again at Pitts Jr. College.
Argythree about 8 years ago
Maybe this Prof is the only one teaching art at this school…
gromit82 about 8 years ago
Considering that Luann has been shown in art class more than in all other kinds of classes combined since she’s been in college, I hope that she is supposed to be an art major. Otherwise, we would really be thrown a curve if we find out that her major is something other than art.And if she winds up in class with Mr. Jock and/or Mr. Goth again, I hope that their real names get mentioned in the strip.

I miss Kymberleigh’s comments, as they are often witty and spot-on. I hope she comes out of hiding again and resumes.^I realize she took a break after someone complained about her weekly FAQ posts. I like to tolerate people, and I never would have flagged a complaint. However, I admit that the FAQ posts often seemed like a bit of an overkill, and I can understand many people tiring of having to scroll past them.^When a less-knowledgeable reader makes a factually incorrect comment or asks a question, I’d suggest either just responding to the one point, or ignoring it completely – one’s choice. Maybe to some people, the FAQ was like downing a bottle of medicine each day to keep from sneezing once.^Another possible response is to direct the commentor to look at the “Luann (comic strip)” entry on Wikipedia for historical info on characters.^Come on Kymberleigh, don’t take it so personally. We miss your company and would like to see you back.

Just because she designs a dress. Does not necessarily mean she will wear it. It is just an assignment.

No, Pru.
Luann is Not “STOKED” about the Wedding.
She’s about to have a “STROKE” Over the Wedding….,
gromit82 about 8 years ago
It would be anticlimactic for Luann to be designing a bridesmaid dress less than 3 months before a wedding at which she is to be the maid of honor … and not wear that dress at her wedding.
kenhense about 8 years ago
Nice, Luann – But I’d like to see One-Eye come up with the winner.

Is art the only class she’s taking? Is Zebo the only teacher? When I went to college I had to take all sorts of required classes, not just one.

As I said … convergence ..the separate storylines are starting to weave together on the journey to the December wedding.

A bridesmaid’s dress that doesn’t take away from the bride, but also doesn’t look goofy on the bridesmaid – now, THERE’s an art challenge…

That art class assignment is quite the coincidence, coming at this particular time.

Luann is kind of stupid. She shows no sign of emotional growth or intelligence ever.

It’s early morning and my brain is struggling to get engaged this Monday morning so my first comment is a riff on other comments. Thoughts have been expressed on the year that Luann might be in at Mooney University, and the fact that she is again taking Professor Zebo. Remember this is Luannverse, and this is literature with poetic license expressed in comic art. His class is a plot device that allows for a number of things, in this case a tie-in to planning the Bridesmaid’s dresses for the upcoming wedding. I love how her excitement is being clearly shown, and Pru is going to have some influence and ideas that should help Luann overall. There is a year difference since the summer interval was drawn, but again that time does not correspond to time as it lays out in the real world. Just enjoy!

Ah, reply just went down. The weakness of the carried FAQ is that the links did not remain live, Dog.Life has been demanding here in recent weeks, as is no secret. When i can devote a solid stretch of time i will work up a revision with the URLs so that problem does not exist.

Mordy, right— she’s not stoked about the wedding. She’s stoked about lace and frills and being the center of attention.

6Well, today’s effort actually seems to link well and explain perhaps, why Luann was SO VERY “exuberant” in Sunday’s panels. Today, I like that Luann is enthused about her art project, and I think it is rather nice that she is imagining her bridesmaid dress is what she will make for her wearable art. I wonder if Zebo allows the student to seek help from others in terms of the actual construction of the wearable art, or if it has to be all Luann’s work? If it has to be all her own work, it may end up being problematic as I am not recalling any prior sewing experience by Luann. So, with little/no prior experience…. will Greg have her be a “natural” at sewing, or a “flop”? The “flop”, of course has more traditional comedic potential. If Luann can elicit actual sewing help, Gunther could of course be her “go to person”. That in itself could prove to be very interesting and revealing as they have not talked much since going to college. Greg could use their interaction to let both be introspective (and revealing to us) about where they both are heading. Now…. the big question to me…. will the bridesmaid dress Luann creates be “edgy” and “different” enough to elicit a positive response from Zebo? Or will it be more traditional (and potentially be thought of as bland by Zebo)? I think Luann should go for edgy and different, and in the end let Toni decide if she should wear it at the wedding (Toni would likely say yes) or wear a more traditional one.

Just a brief aside:Since it was mentioned yesterday about Kymberleigh, I wanted to state that I can understand Kymberleigh’s choice to no longer post after having had her feelings hurt in the forum. Sometimes folks can be hurtful and I have had those those thoughts occasionally myself. For me, thus far, however, the fun and joy of interacting with and talking with the vast majority of really nice folks outweighs the few who sometimes hurt feelings. Also, I wanted to say that I hope that after a spell, that Kymberleigh will decide to come back to the comments forum. I have enjoyed her comments, and I do believe she has been a valuable part of our group in many ways.

I fear we may be in store for another year in which the only class that we see Luann taking is Prof. Zebu’s. And since Bernice did Luann’s homework on the “self-portrait” exercise, will Gunther do the dress design for her, too?
Brdshtt Premium Member about 8 years ago
One thing that does not seem to be touched on here is the color of the dress. I do not think Luann has been informed that the colors will be white and lime green. Her dress in the drawing she made is still blue, which is still consistent with the one of the colors Brad and Toni had originally settled on. Brad’s comment in the first panel of this strip clearly reinforces that:..I wonder how Luann will feel with a blue dress if that is a color that may not be used.
Sisyphos about 8 years ago
When Luann becomes enthusiastic, there is no use in trying to stop her, change her mind, or in any way avoid the inevitable….A bridesmaid dress it is!

I am beginning to compile useful links for people interested in the courtship and wedding. This is just the start, so URLs of links will be greatly appreciated.WEDDING THINGS:http://luannfan.comIs where you can submit wedding gown designs for Toni, and learn more about the background of Toni and Brad. Here are the direct links to the background info on them:1. Here there is the choice to become a firefighter, finding that it will take 2 years of study and training, meting Toni, getting lessons in who is able to succeed at the work, and becoming a hero but violating regulations:http://luannfan.com/collections/volume-1-a-career-a-fire-a-rescue/2. Now Brad and Toni are starting serious schooling without their friends, and stepping into successfully butchering a rolls royce for laughs. Luann gives Brad excellent but challenging advice, but Brad figures he is the wrong Brad at the auto show. Enter Dirk the jerk, and a predictive talk with Frank. See: http://luannfan.com/collections/volume-2-brad-almost-gets-brave/3. Lots of (Gag!) Dirk. For the timeline, Toni had dated him for about four years when the topic first comes up. Brad and Toni applauded as heroes. Uncle gives Toni his old car to replace her car that Dirk wrecked while Brad and Toni are paramedic students at the junior college before their 10 weeks at the fire academy. Go to:http://luannfan.com/collections/volume-3-dirk-the-jerk/4. Enjoying challenges is expressed. Too much “nothing” considered. Not enjoying challenges is expressed. Finally, challenges are met here:http://luannfan.com/collections/volume-4-preparing-to-fight-fires/5. Toni graduates from fire academy. Luann gives wise advice again. Toni hired by Station 4. Brad has a revelation, okay, at least two. Dirk’s nauseating “property” comment, math, and more in:http://luannfan.com/collections/volume-5-brad-works-it-out/6. The end of a different ten week fire academy course for Brad happens now. Toni needs to lie to Dirk. Assaults and Brad trying to rescue Toni. Toni insists on Dirk being arrested. Nancy worries a lot about Toni. TJ suggests future scenarios in:http://luannfan.com/collections/volume-6-gradually-graduating/7 through 12 have not yet been entered at the Luann site for the wedding. Their titles are as follows:7. Brad gets hired! First Date!8. Working together vs. working apart9. Competing for a good cause10. A banquet and bad news11. Brad breaks it off12. Playing houseMarried name choices, wherein Toni mentions wanting to retain her maiden name to honor her departed parents:http://www.gocomics.com/luann/2016/09/18

From Sept to May, Luann took art classes which are two freshman semesters. Now she is taking a third art class which will be first semester of sophomore year. I assume she is a full time student. She seems to be taking a lot of art classes. She should be around 19 now. Her parents should be getting on her back about what she wants to do with her life (artist, set decoration?) We still have about three months of this wedding stuff to get through. Then Luann will have to face the reality of life since next June and transfer time is coming up.

i figured as much… (i.e. the massive excitement). It is all about Luann and the dress that SHE will wear, as opposed to helping Toni buy one.

She’s in Zēbo’s art class again? I thought she was in junior college to focus on the essential classes before transferring to a real university, not to waste time with electives. And what exactly is this Zēbo guy really teaching the students, anyway? All Professor Pretentious ever does is drop this dime-store “wisdom” on them; it’s like a piloting instructor whose lessons consist solely of variations on “You have to be one with the airplane” instead of actually showing you how to fly the damn thing. I know art isn’t as technical as something like flying, but there is still of level of technique one has to actually learn. Which would, of course, be the point of taking an art class to begin with. In what way has Luann developed as an artist by doing these classes?I know JC isn’t exactly expensive, but this seems like a real waste of Frank and Nancy’s money.

Luann may be in her sophomore year at the community college for the next 10 years of “our” time, just as she was semi-permanently a high school junior. Unfortunately, just as the only class we saw her take in high school was Fogarty’s, the only class we may see her take in CC is Zebo’s (and always with Jock and Emu as her only visible classmates.)

A — When Luann ever shown any talent for sewing? It’s a lot harder than it looks.
B— when has Luann shown anytalent for design?
C — when has Luann ever show good taste in clothes?
D — When did Zebo ever desere another mention in this strip?

Hey I have only lightly been following the apparent demise of the Kymberleigh FAQ saga, and first of all I will defend Kym to the ends of the earth, or at least to the ends of our blog about Luann and Luannverse, girl you the best! :) I know you and Sukie’s motives are good, this is a strip that almost requires and encyclopedic knowledge base, as it is a continuing story with so many arcs and so much history. It’s aggravating for us Luann followers, whether Trufans or Criticfans-both equally valid—when people who pop on make a comment which is so far from the facts it grates likes squeeky chalk on an old-fashioned chalkboard. I don’t exactly know how she got canned so to speak, I don’t flag anybody, I either ignore them, to politely correct them, or react with righteous wrath if they comment in a usually biased, and clueless Trollcomment. But Kymberleigh don’t let whatever happened get you down, I love to read you. You are long a little, but I don’t mind -:) Come back, we have your back, and we need your knowledge.

I just got a note due to being in Brad and Toni’s guestbook at the website addy found next to the strip, and now not only know the familiar name of the woman at Cottage 4 2, but also what the couple looked like as tiny kids.

Curious to know why a strike through is on my comment. My sentiments remain the same, I think it’s fair comment. Again as I said on the FAQ edit issue there is some story behind it. My point is that I hope Kymberleigh comes back and stays with her great commentary in any event.

I guess I come in too late to be up on the comment themes of the day, but they seem to be far afield from the cartoon. My overall impression is that everyone, except Toni, is interested in the wedding. I’m concerned with the portrayal of the character, Brad. Is Greg setting him up as the husband who will be expected to jump through hoops for Toni’s whims? I think that he will do anything to keep from losing her and in the process, lose himself.
