I hope today’s strip is a tease and not a new arc where Luanne and Gunther dance around each other. In truth, I feel that Luanne and Quill will rekindle their relationship in the future. I also feel that Tiffani and Gunther will grow closer. I may be alone in this but their friendship has blossomed since they’ve entered college. Gunther has come out of his shell (a bit) and Tiff has opened up about her home life to him. They’re an odd couple but it works for me.

On the guest book page Puddles is sporting a snazzy blue bow tie.1) Which would indicate that Brad’s color preference of blue & white superceded TJ’s plans.2) Pud had no collar.. Do they make velcro bow ties that fasten to skin, is it a cruel pin holding it on, or is the collar flesh colored?

Ugh, not this old song and dance again. I really wish the writers would stop sending such mixed signals on whether Gunther and Luann belong together or not. They hint that the two are a good match, then they go out of their way to show that she’s not interested and they have no chemistry. But then someone else talks up the idea, and still later it’s reinforced that he has the sexual charisma of a throw rug.

Stop pushing a pairing you have no intention of actually seeing through. At least make up your minds one way or the other instead of swinging back and forth.

Still, at least Luann is showing maturity in how she describes the relationship. Perhaps there’s hope for her character development after all.

Maybe a jealous Bernice would finally pay attention to a Renaissance man like Gunter.If the strip has any sense of real characters, Quill, like so many actors, is so shallow he’ll develop into someone that doesn’t know who he is or what he wants – except attention. After playing so many “roles” they lose any sense of self. We wouldn’t want that for Luann would we?

I smell a Lynn Johnston ending to this strip some day. Lu & Gunth shall wed. It’s probably still a long way off, and we’ll probably endure the Brad & Toni nuptials, and perhaps a child of their own, as well as the further developments of the old Pitts crew. Tiff and Quill might even do a Brangelina-like coupling as castmates, somewhere down the line, and Bernice will continue her lesbian evolution.

2Gag, cough, clear throat.Oh, no…. I had ONLY been wishing that Greg would not have Quill and Luann get back together. Fortunately, it seems like Quill and Luann REALLY are done……. but….. BUT……PLEASE do NOT have entendre of today’s last panel mean that Luann and Gunther may end up getting into some sort of romantic relationship!!!!!! I sincerely would like Luann to remain out of any romantic relationships for a while (at least a year or two, IMO) so that she (and we the readers) can focus on her exploration of who she is and who she is wanting to become as she proceeds more into the adult world. There is so much story there to explore, that I would really, really enjoy that being Greg’s focus for her character. For me, AFTER she has done some serious exploration and discovery of who she wants to become as an adult…. then it could be really entertaining to see her develop into potential romantic interests. I know I cannot make these story decisions for Greg… but I do sincerely hope my hoped for ideas are the path that Greg is planning and that this Luann/Gunther romantic notion is just a brief “red herring”.

I can’t seem to get reply to work to a comment that firebrand1 made so I will just make it a comment. How does anything that is portrayed amount to a lie? All Luann said is that it is awkward when they, she and Quill, are together. His mom appears to perceive that there is something going on with what had been a relationship, but to lie you have to make a specific assertion about some real fact, even in Luannverse. So what specific assertion did Luann make? Saying they are awkward when together does not say why, or whose fault it was, or is, or anything specific.

Yup, the Show Biz is very hard on personal relationships. I met an aspiring actress on the East Coast. Then, she moved to the West Coast when opportunity beckoned, got into movies, moved overseas. I lost track of her for years. She came back married….

Luann can pass Art, Gunther can pass Engineering, but alas, they both fail Chemistry.

Please, PLease, PLEASE don’t go there. I can’t think of anything more boring than Luann and Gunther.

For all the Luannfans who hate Quill, he was a great transition from easily infatuated teenager to mildly mature college-kid. He accepted ‘no’ when passions got a little hot, he helped her explore singing as an option and he got her humor. He is not a bad person. A lot of people say mean things when they are angry.

I prefer to wait for another, more interesting character to appear. Where are other guys? How will she meet him? I would enjoy seeing her tell a guy she just wants to concentrate on her education and have him work to get HER attention. Even if it takes a Luaniverse year.
