what about the girl that was with her the first time Brad saw Toni? I guess she is married?

Trust me the whole crew will end up at the wedding I bet. Although I wonder about Jonah, Moreover it will be at the Fuse. I just hope some of our long-lost characters will return. Remember Delta would be on vacation, Rose could come back for Christmas, the rest are around, and Pru basically runs the Fuse. TJ is not going anywhere although some think he should. I think they all will be invited in the end. A great Wedding panel with the whole crowd in the background, including a visit from GE and daughter. My prediction anyway for what it’s worth.

Earlier in the week, some were commenting on “Happy’s” jaw locked into a perpetual smile. Looks like Greg took a bit of TJ’s image and placed it onto this firefighter’s face.

Actually, with that “jokester” fellow being at the table….. I feel sorry for SHANNON! A little bit of silly banter like he seems to specialize in can be ok…. but man, he is IMO getting into the “obnoxious” category for the length of his efforts.

I am wondering what people think about these two “sentences”:

I mentioned it earlier with the “Bro-in-law” comment, but here it is again…. at least in my fashion of understanding the English language, neither of the above two “sentences” are actual sentences…. and neither makes any sense to me with a QUESTION MARK at the end as the punctuation.

I tend to think I am fairly familiar with dialects, and dialectical phrases. I also tend to think I am fairly familiar with current slang…. but, what I am missing here? Are those two sentences above some sort of regional thing about which I am completely clueless about?

I would appreciate any explanation or comments about this. At first, I was thinking it may have been a simple mistake when it happened the first time, but this is the second time the same sort of “odd” pseudo-sentence structure shows up in less than a week…. so it seems intentional.

It really seems strange and odd to me…. I must be missing something.

Combining both Luann info and Luann Again’s strip today for this. I think Frank and Nancy are referring to adult life after college in Luann Again, so they are about 40 in today’s Luann Again, give or take a little. At this stage of that comic Luann was 13 and Brad was 17. If so, they were about 27 when Luann was born, and 23 when Brad was. We know both from the strips and from a GE interview for an art show that Luann was 18 this last Spring, but not if they had her turn 19 in Sept (though i suspect they did since this year has motion due to the wedding), so Nancy and Frank are probably somewhere in their mid-40s right now in Luann and around 40 in Luann Again. I consider the mid-40s pretty much the physical prime of life (at least it was for me).

Saw the winning gown last night— nice! I just hope it’s warm weather— it does get cold in Southern Cal in the winter.

He’s lonely! It’s those crazy firefighter hours doing it to him.

Personally, I think that the captain should give the bride away.

Oh, and my comment about his job performance was just to cut short some people before they could get – let’s say “unpleasant” (to be polite).

For the heck of it i looked up great vs grand and it looks like for naming the generation twice removed the online places which trace ancestry are normalizing themselves around “grand”. Given that terminology had been more flexible earlier i suspect it may be sometjing of a fashion that is being normalized into a “rule”, like when dangling prepositions became a fashion no-no because some people got it into their heads that Latin grammar rules shoukd be followed in relation to prepositions, despite the structure being previously (and still) in very common usage.

Unless they want to leave the entire town of Pitts vulnerable, they ought to just invite representatives of Brad and Toni ’s stations to the wedding.

We already know that all of Luann ’s friends will be volunteered by her as workers at the event.

Great point, Argy 2. That could also lead to Les being there. I have long thought that it would make sense for Les’s thefts to be caught in relation to the wedding, though the donation (instead of gifts) choice makes that less likely, I suspect. Usually, in that case, people donate and then the charity sends a note to the people (or survivors of same in the case of a bereavement) in whose honor the donation was given.

Toni seems much more engaged with the wedding and planning for it than… say… a month or two ago when she was about to have a nervous breakdown and would have loved to elope and marry in front of a judge. Now she seems happy, relaxed and flexible. It is starting to seem that there will be more people there than previously thought. The firefighters have just now invited themselves.

Quoting Old Lady Horner there might be snow on my roof but there is still a fire in my furnace..

With a build up like this, the wedding guest list should include special attendees like Greg and his daughter. Maybe Lady Gaga? Miss Buxley, from Beetle Bailey?

Of course Brad and Toni aren’t obligated to invite any of Luann’s friends, but they might offer Luann a “plus one” invitation. Plus, Bernice has hung around the De Groot house often enough, and for long enough, that they might invite her as a friend of the family.

And I agree with those recalling that the Captain is gay and has – or had at one point, at least – a boyfriend.

Check out the 12/16/16 strip: Bigmouth Firefighter does end up laughing it up with Ms. Horner and (probably) Toni’s preschool teacher. Not only that, he and the rest of the unit did get called to a major fire.
