Crystal’s looking a little testy. Hopefully, she’ll be back on the ball soon.

If Knute and Crystal aren’t dating, why is she shopping the “naughty Nighties”rack? I like Knute and Crystal. They’re oddball characters but definitely cute as a couple. We should have more story arcs about them.

Knute and Crystal are the coolest (non)couple in the Luanniverse!

Crystal is an attractive young woman who obviously cares about her looks, and therefore about relationships. If Knute is some kind of a cluless goofy dork who is not into intimacy, why does she still even hang out with him? In high school I could see it. But at their age now?

Human progress depends on being able to pass information around and down. Things which can’t be spoken or written down and read tend to be lost. Hence, that thing named Western Culture frees people and opens their eyes.

@GROMIT82: At one point in the past, Tiffany explained to Luann that she took a job working with kids to prepare for a role (in what show, I don’t recall),but that she needed to look as if she knew how to work with kids. The principal realized that she isn’t that good with kids, which is why he ‘promoted’ her to a mostly filing job…

Don’t try and make it sound like something it’s not, Knute: If you “hang but don’t date” then the term you’re looking for is “friends”. Unless you’re getting it on as well, in which case you’re more like “friends with benefits.”** But if you’re not dating, then there’s no need to hurt your brain looking for a way to describe it.

*But let’s be honest: these two aren’t getting it on. Nobody gets it on in this strip without being married first.

With Knute’s resident smile – I can’t figure out if he wants any more out of the relationship or not. The good friends thing can go on for a long time – but a romantic relationship tends to sink or swim fairly soon. It’s my guess that Crystal would have to initiate any romantic relationship. It’s probably not easy to sweep her off her feet.

I have missed these two. Glad to see them again!

Soooo nice to see something about Knute and Crystal. Glad G&K still keep them in the repertoire. The most compatible couple. Knute and Crystal are not controversial, so that’s why we don’t see them very often.

Fuzzy dice? Could be a subtle body part reference?

I rather have a crystal/Nute relationship that the extermely forced Les and Pru arc

Friends without benefits!

Crystal and Knute, miss you two, wish we could see you a lot more, whatever you call your relationship. I call it opposites who obviously are very attracted to each other. The nature or depth of the attraction, and whether they have acted on it, or will remains to be seen but the attraction and the obvious affection for each it is well obvious, to me at least. I loved the double entrendre in the today’s column, although the somewhat profane idea that Crystal might have been referring to (which is not surprising because she is the smartest, most incisive character in the strip in her own way) might not have occurred to Knute, or maybe it did, and he cleaned it up. Fuzzy Balls indeed! In the newspaper—you know that print thing that some people still actually read? The Sunday non-character panel (can’t think of what else to call it) has two fuzzy and square dice, a one and a six handing from something, so…. Those aren’t balls though. This is a more mature strip than it was back when Luann was mooning over Aaron Hill in middle school.

I also have to add a question: what is the meaning of her looking at robes, and naugthy nighties, while shopping with her “hanging partner”? Ordinarily she would be shopping with Tiffany for clothes (oh the comments then!!) but now she is shopping with Knute. She is very hot as well as being smart, so I know she would look good in those naughty nighties and sexy robe, but this being a maturing “family” comic I will, maybe, leave that image hanging (lol).

What Knute has described, is FRIENDS… However, one wonders what kind of jealousies might crop up, if one of them started seeing someone else….. hint hint, Greg & Karen…..

Yaaaay—Knute and Crystal ae back! I love those two. And Crystal is having some influence on Knute—a tuxedo jacket with shorts? Nice mix!

Naturally, one would expect Crystal to be the one dating and Knute to become jealous, but, I think it would be a much better story, if Knute were the one to find a steady and for Crystal to be the jealous one.

That’s the funniest thing I’ve seen in the comics in a very long time! Thanks for that.

I think they are having sex with each other. What they call “hanging” most people would call dating. They just like to be different and use non-traditional terms for what they are to each other.

Faithful Luann fans are thankful for what they can get. So here’s Knute and Crystal making another appearance, just like people asked for. But be careful what you wish for, for you may get it. Sounds to me like the Evanses are telegraphing that there’s nothing romantic going between them. They’re just buddies. That’s fine. They’re still cuter than those bland college kids. It also means that Luanniverse is down to zero romance for non-married characters.

Is this the dirtiest joke to appear in Luann?

If there were a relationship to develop, I believe Crystal would be the directing force in it.

There is no back story, here. No parents, no schools, no jobs, no hormones. It’s always just Knute and Crystal appearing out of nowhere. Your guess is as good as mine, but my guess is that Crystal works in some sort of boutique, Knute does maintenance and goes to a trade school at night. They live quietly together, have nothing in common with their high school friends since they all are in college, and have a intimate “no strings attached” relationship. They don’t find marriage a necessity in their lives, but they are bonded to each other like steel. Crystal is the aggressive one and that’s why Knute is always smiling and Crystal looks calm, confident, and satisfied.

We learned last year (I believe) that Crystal makes jewelry, though not necessarily for a living. I believe this was mentioned during the art exhibit (showing student work at the community college) that Zebo had.

nice touch with the minion. looks like he’s listening to their conversation. that’s a shirt only Knute can wear. Him and Krystal are a fantastic match. She’s not as shallow as Paris (Tiffany)

Jpuzzlewhiz….Knute & Crystal live in such a vacuum that one must use their own imagination to fill the void. Your guess is as good as mine, but considering their ages and hormone intensity, I just don’t picture them living at home with mommy and daddy.The Luann strip is not a morality play, and as long as Greg leaves things open ended, I have to project my own feelings. Just as I can’t picture Gunther and Rosa alone in Peru not sleeping together. Or the “moment” that Tiffany said she and Gunther had in her room, it had to be more physical than just drinking coffee together.

Knute and Crystal were two of the most unlikely couples. And that is what they are. But it was Knute’s fearlessness attracted her to him. He is daring without being destructive.
