FINALLY – Les is taking a little responsibility. And Pru is just the type to keep quiet and soften the blow. But I still think she should return the necklace.

The ice is still at the bottom of the glass. I’ve seen it do that before. Very cold ice can be put into a glass, and will stick to the bottom, at first, even after liquid is poured over it. If jabbed with a straw it usually will break up and float to the top.

There was a poster yesterday who thought that Prudence was enjoying Les’s misery. Instead, she’s making it clear to him that she is not going to tell anyone that he tried to court a lesbian, so if ‘everyone’ finds out, it will only be due to Les telling them himself…

Pru is so kind and reassurring. Les feeds on his insecurity and inadequacy. Soooo, I bet he starts to get better. She might help. We will see, particularly since we have four more days until Sunday. Those hateful troll posters I hope you might get “better” too, but I highly doubt it.

It would seem that since neither of them has a girlfriend at this point, they could just hang out. You know, like normal friends do?

Is this where Les slips up and somehow mentionshaving used “donations” to purchase Pru’s necklace? And if he does, how will Pru react? Stay tuned!

lets see, Les couldn’t read that Pru was gay, and Pru can’t read that Les is a con artist/bully/embezzler or that an expensive necklace was meant to be more than, well, an expensive necklace;

at least Les can claim he is a naïve dork right outta high school, but Pru is allegedly this worldly sophisticate straight from the Big Apple, so what’s her excuse?

And why’s Pru wasting her time in the sticks when she could be in New York? Did she burn some bridge back there, or maybe the naive young women just outta high school who can’t seem to connect with the opposite sex has her thinking……?

Everybody knows about Pru and everybody knows Les was trying to date Pru. So what does “You’re safe with me” mean? Is she being funny? (Les won’t get “screwed”), or does Pru have a plan? (a pretend date or something). Or is this the line that ends the arc? I’m not taking bets at this point.

“I would have said something.” Well, why didn’t you? “I Misread your intentions” doesn’t quite cut it. It seems that as long as Les had money, Pru would have continued to “Misread his intentions,” until doomsday. Or until he ran out of money.

Les did not “know about Pru”, and he has been working for the Fuse for quite some time. There is no particular reason to presume that any other Fuse employees necessarily know either, except for Luann and perhaps her parents. Also: I see no reason whatever to feel that any of them knew that Les was trying to date Pru – except that Luann suspected it and warned Pru when he gave her the necklace.

Mrs. B is never going to get that tea. Wasn’t Mr. Gray in the Fuse when this all started? If he sees these 2 employees ignoring the customer (his lady friend) like this, he will not be happy.

Seriously, if Pru’s so great at reading people, how could she have possibly missed that Les had a thing for her, especially after giving her that necklace?

At least Prudence is attempting some comforting words for Les.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Horner is still waiting for her tea.

Well, the good part is Les admits he’s a loser. That is a good start in my opinion. The other good part is Pru seems to want to help. Though her remark is rather cryptic. It could mean any number of things.

As a follow up to my comment yesterday, I am asexual. There are variations to the LGB acronym, one is LGBTQIA. That is Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transexual/Transgender, Queer, Intersex and Asexual/Ally. I find that some people have difficulty with the concept of asexuality, even other members of the community. The idea that a person does not experience sexual attraction is incomprehensible. That is why I describe myself as queer. People grasp that. I did not fully understand myself until I was 40. I was comfortable when relationships were platonic, but my partners did not know why I did not move from that position. When, on one occasion, I did, I realised I was only playing a part, and not very well at that.

Well Les there is only one out when you hit bottom…Up!!!

Les, it is the “school of hard Knox” that someone like you must attend. And you just got served a new lesson there. you will either mature, or become more idiotic. Let’s hope you will mature. otherwise, you will not end good. idiots never do.

Maybe Pru’s kindness will alter Les’ path.

It’s never fun to be the butt of a joke. Or, really, the butt of anything else.

Nobody wants to be a laughing stock. Laughing bonds, you want those in life, but not laughing stocks.

The first thing you do when you find yourself in a hole is to stop digging. Yes, Les, you’re screwed, but not for the reason you think. Pru will never tell anyone you fell for her, but you still have a lot of changing in attitude to do. Stop thinking of yourself as a joke and see how you can improve your life. There is one person standing in front of you who might help you with that.

Don’t know about you guys but I still find Les so completely detestable that I’m not really feeling these strips. Also, it seems odd that Les has had more time in the strip than Luann so far in 2017. She has almost completely disappeared from her own comic.

at least once a week somebody complains about that. And when she ois the main focal point some of the SAME people complain about that. “This arc sucks” “enough with ‘fill in the blank’ already’ ‘will this never end’ and the all pupose ’BORING” sheesh

When he gets around, Les should be very thankful to have Pru as a friend and ally!

I bet in this Saturday’s strip … they’ll finally acknowledge the iced tea is still there waiting – or Mrs. Berger will come and ask about it.

Maybe this’ll teach him to stop weaving wicked webs. Or not…

The necklace is posing an interesting dilemma here. If Pru rehabilitates Les, everyone benefits. If she returns it, Les will be shamed, and revert to his “everyone is against me” misery. If she keeps it, she is gaining from Les’s false belief that she was a potential romantic partner. If she determines that the necklace was paid for with fraudulently obtained cash, she would need to confront Les. Can the necklace be returned to the store and the charity fund reimbursed – if that is, indeed, what happened.

Pru touched him! How touching.

If Leslie can keep his mouth shut (problematic), Pru will do her part, and the embarrassment will be mitigated….

You also spent a lot of money feeding your boss and his family, which makes even less sense.

Les likes girls also.. so he could say he is a lesbian and that he and Pru should date. They can talk about what they like in Women.

Les hasn’t changed. “It’s all about me.”

Luckily, the tactless busybody Mrs. Berger doesn’t deserve her tea anyway. ;p

By this point it can be said almost safely that Les is indeed taking things better than expected. Sure, he’s whining and wallowing in self pity, but at least he’s talking to Pru, not shouting at her (or worse).

Really dumb question: If Prudence is so “empathic” that she can read people, she didn’t see Les’ “intentions” from a million miles away? She’s either really dense and therefore not empathic at all, or sort of enjoyed the attention …. Evans and Evans: The character is contradicting herself. She either reads people well, or she’s vacuously oblivious. Please get your act together.

WOW! Pretty risque double entendre on Pru’s part! At least for a family strip.

@OLD_TIMEY_DUDE: Many kindly people think of themselves as ‘empathetic’ when what they really are is sympathetic.

Wait until they find out that you embezzled the money you spent on your gay girlfriend.

Pru is so nice – she may need to get dominated by Ann Eiffel.

@wizardgoat Les gave Pru the necklace as a gift, one she commented was too nice, he did not give the gift as an engagement present or ask her to be his girlfriend, in all appearances it was given as a friend gift therefore the necklace belongs to Pru……..if les wants it back to sell so he can get his money back, he’s SOL, and it wasn’t his money to begin with

HEY! THEY CHANGED THE WEBSITE !

On my screen the little Comments and other widgets are now to the right, and the Comments one displays the total message count including replies.

The bad news is the widget for indexing the comments doesn’t work the same. Although it does appear to highlight the timeframe as before, it doesn’t automatically jump to the first occurance within that time.

Pru is such a great addition to the strip. Her maturity and compassion balance out all the immaturity and selfishness certain other characters demonstrate. :)

Wow… a change in the comments button and presentation of comments.

The button placement at the right should be easy to adopt, even though the lower placement was ok as well. The comments themselves, at least on my screen are now sort of “left justified”…. well, not really but there is about 1/3 of the screen that is now blank white screen. Not sure if that is desirable or not, but again it is livable. I do like how it shows all the comments, including replies to comments in the bubble to open up the comments. That is nice to have back.

So, today it still seems that Les is learning from this experience and not “acting out” in horrible ways. That is good! He is showing a lot of embarrassment, but that is understandable as his world view of the situation has changed drastically from what he believed. And, again, Pru is proving again to be a really kind friend and empathetic person. She is definitely staying true to form, and is helping Les to grow.

Wow…. it also appears the change/update allows normal insertion of blank lines… at least I think so… I will try it now….

The thing that is not so nice about the new placement of the buttons, for those of us using a computer that we don’t have the right to download any ad blocker software on, now that the buttons are on the right, they are blocked by ads that ‘slide in’ or ‘pop up’ on the right. If you don’t wait for the ad to fully slide into place, you inadvertently click on the ad and open it fully, instead of clicking on the ‘close ad’ button so you can get to the ‘read comments’ button. And of course there are still ads popping up or sliding in on the left. That may be why the size of the comic was altered: to make more room for all these terrific ads…

Pru is a better ‘man’ than Les is!

I think the words we should be paying the most attention to are ‘spent a fortune’. Where did Les get the fortune? I am still curious about the supposed charity he was collecting for during the holidays.

HI everyone. I just started reading Luann again after being offline for a while. My laptop died andhad to waituntil Isaved enough to get a newone. . I went back as far as Toni and Brad’s wedding. I am also wondering what Leslie’s uncle is talking about about spending his money instead of paying something off instead of spending his money on other things. Can someone fill me on what has been happening since about November 2012? (Yes it took me all this time to save up for a new laptop). Thanks much

I’ve remembered that there is at least one person in the strip who (a) knows that Pru is gay, (b) knows that Les bought her the necklace, © doesn’t like Les much, and (d) might be inclined to tell people about Les’s embarrassing situation.

So if Pru wants to be kind to Les, the best thing she could do would be to go home and tell Luann not to talk about Les’s attempt to romance Pru.
