B & T want TJ living with them for a while, to save money. I suspect they’ll put up with the arrangement for a good while, before finally evicting him.
The house I grew up in, prior to high school, had only two bedrooms and one bath. So I shared a bath with my parents. And so did any guests. As a kid, I guess I thought that arrangement was standard, for ordinary people.
By high school, we had a better house with two baths. Much better, of course.
It occurs to me that with TJ’s construction talents, they could add another bath.
Small house. No master bath. Occupants all share one bathroom. As a married couple, Toni and Brad will eventually pin for privacy and either kick TJ out or go ahead and buy their own place and stop paying rent to Nancy and Frank. For myself, I have 5 people in my roof and I know I will absolutely not share my master bath with anyone. I am the only female and I value a clean toilet and the floor around the base. I feel for Toni. Hope she will push for their own place.
While I would like to think Toni is talking about using the tooth brush she is carrying in kitchen sink, there is another part of me that thinks, “Brushing your teeth in the kitchen would not put off a macho firefighter like Toni.” So, now I am thinking Toni is going to use the kitchen sink for something other than tooth-brushing.
The 80s music group, Whodini , had a hit called “Five Minutes Of Funk”(♪) . I didn’t know TJ was so musically inclined, as to attempt to come out with his own ‘cover version’….
This sink… makes me think… of other sinks and of sinking. Many know that Molly Brown survived the sinking of the Titanic. Few know that besides her inherited fortune, she earned a great amount of money as an inventor in her own right. She devised and marketed, initially to the restaurant industry and later to individual homes, the very first stainless steel sinks. Yes, the Unsinkable Molly Brown brand-named her product as The Unbrownable Molly Sink.
TJ seems to have money but no ability to live on his own. He doesn’t strike me as a special needs individual (Let’s forget his schemes for now). And are fire fighters paid so poorly that they need to rent out their couch to a third person? Normal newlyweds run around the house in their underwear, or less. Toni and Brad have to endure unnatural modesty due to TJ’s presence.
I hope this is the beginning of the “TJ Leaves the house” arc. Brad & Toni absolutely need their privacy. I don’t see them leaving… this is the old “Ms. Horner house,” and I think it was meant for them to have. Then again, if they’re going to have children (and/or Shannon), to paraphrase “Jaws,” “They’re gonna need a bigger house…” Maybe TJ will stay, assuming he earns enough from KK to cover the rent, or finds another roommate.
One way or another, Brad & Toni need their privacy or they’ll never get a family started.
The Tiffany/Gunther arc was so exhausting, it should have ended with them falling asleep together on the sofa. No sex, just two people discovering that they care for each other.
You know there are so many levels where this arc in Luannverse is close to the experiences of Millennials in today’s society. Many times they live together, or have moved back to parents, in the old room, or the basement, even if they have a full-time gig. Plus, in spite of some fevered opinions, TJ is Brad’s best bud, or BFF, even when they have had some dust-ups in the past. These two men really love each other, and TJ showed how caring he is in the preparation for the wedding. Moreover just being around Brad’s parents, who are the most decent people, has done enormously good things for him. Toni does not seem to have a best bud, but she has accepted TJ as Brad’s friend. All that being said he needs to move, and allow them privacy, to be a young, married couple, and when they have kids. Shannon is not a problem, she can handle TJ. When will this problem be faced? How? Whose idea will it be to move? What will be the outcomes of this move? And will TJ continue to be the unique guy he is now, or even grow? Or go the other way? One thing for sure: he was never a Leslie Knox.
For me, today was a pretty decent start to a Brad & Toni arc.
I see no reason for Toni & Brad to be rushing to move out of the living arrangement or to kick TJ out at this time. 1) Toni & Brad have the stated intention of having this arrangement to help them save money for their future, 2) Brad & Toni have their own bedroom (plus their sleeping quarters at the fire station as well and seem to be frequently on opposing shifts, 3) TJ surprised them with a remodel of the house, which apparently was happily received, and of course 4) keeping the amiable and generally good-natured and “smiley” TJ around is a very good comedic plot device for Greg to use.
What I am wondering for this week is… will this also become a “Shannon” week as well? We have not really seen her in quite a few weeks. I have tended to enjoy the Shannon arcs especially the last few, so I am hoping she enters the picture in the next few days.
And, for a relatively smaller home, having a single bathroom is still pretty common in my neck of the woods. Even though it may not be the “standard” everyone hopes for these days, there are many, many families (my own as a youngster) where parents and a whole batch of kids shared one bathroom. In my own upbringing, we had a smaller 3 bedroom home with one smallish bathroom that was shared by 7 people. It is perhaps not “desired” now, but I really see no hardship for the three of them to share a lone bathroom. All it takes is a willingness to get along and to be considerate.
You think they would of done an additional bathroom when the re-modeled the house. But how is Toni going to hover over the sink to tinkle? Most sink counters are above the waist unless she gets on the counter and squats right over the sink. Very awkward!!
Oh boy, a whole week (or two!!) of “newlyweds share their house with a trouble-making third wheel” high jinx! This is essentially the premise for the sort of wacky (???) sit-com that would have run on ABC in the 1980s and would have been cancelled after one season.
Toni spends long shifts (including overnight) working at a fire station inhabited by men, right? But this is more than she is willing to endure? Just checking.
Don’t they keep their toothbrushes in the bathroom, possibly in the cabinet? Where did she get the toothbrush and toothpaste from since TJ was occupying the bathroom? We do not keep our toothbrushes and toothpaste in our bedrooms, the living room, the family room, the kitchen, the dining area, the foyer, the library/office, or the garage…
What TJ needs is a lover of his own. If he’s straight, maybe they could bring back Delta. She could ground him. If he’s gay, introduce another character.
Urgently use the toilet?? i would think spitting out toothpaste would fall in that category. i thought she needed to use the toilet but the toothbrush gives another explanation. I just can’t see how she’d be that casual about going in the sink.
Not for nothing, but TJ might have avoided stinking up the bathroom (or at least leave much less of a smell) if he’d have immediately flushed each time he let one out. That’s what I do.
