Looks like Fay is doing pretty well of learning to act. What will Mother think?

To learn that character so quickly, she must be channeling a past life. Actually, I think that role play can sometimes help people to do that, even if subconsciously. And that, in turn, can help them to round out their personalities more quickly.

Seems to be working!

Ox: Gee Faymay Mentoree! Do you want to sit at the bar table or the dining room table?

Luann: No. Not Faymay Mentoree. She’s Lady Snootly.

Ox: I don’t keep up with the latest new tea.

Luann: Not new tea. Snootly.

Ox: I don’t think we carry that brand. How about Lipton?

Luann: Just pretend that she is a proper lady from England.

Ox: I’ve seen her before. I think she lives in town.

Luann: Pretend!!

Ox: Okay.

I wonder if Ox will get any sort of tip.

Lady Snootly is going to order a cup of tea without cream. Five minutes later Ox is going to come back and say that they have no cream, can it be without milk. They both break out laughing, leaving Luann looking confused as she’s the only one who hasn’t seen the movie.

I can see it now. Luann is going to become a drama therapist.

If Luann is successful in helping Fay overcome her shyness. Then I can also see Fay’s mom spreading the word about Luann. This could lead to Luann becoming a paid mentor to other children with similar problems.

I must be the only one bored with this arc.

Hiding behind a mask is a good way to jettison one’s inhibitions.

Fay never ordered by herself? She’s 13 – not 7. Her Mom should have steered her into into doing stuff like that by now. Or are these all lines from a classic movie? Next, Luann should dig up some flashy dance rags to put on Fay – play some hip-hop or something with a good beat – and do some moves and see if Fay can follow suit.

Can I get you a drink Lady Snooty. Why yes young man I will have a Old Fashion and my friend will have a Sex On The Beach. And for my main course I will have the vegan hotdogs and a side of bean sprouts and my friend will have the B L T and a side of fries. And step to it my good man we have to meet Lord Axel in a hour for a romp in the park.

She sort of looks like Brittany – I wonder if she’s a cousin or something.

Wait till Fay gets home and tells her mom to bring the Rolls around. She wants to go for an afternoon jaunt.

Scenes I’d like to see:

Les – “Hiya Babe! The name’s Les! Les Knox! Anything ya want, just call Me!”

Ms Snooty – “Why Chawmed, I’m sure! I’d like to order a water-crest sandwich and a club soda.”

Les – “Coming Right Up, Sweetheart! In the meatime, let Old Les show ya what He can do with a cherry stem!”

Ms Snooty – “How perfectly delightful!”

Les – “You Bet ‘cha Babe! And THAT ain’t all I can do with My To…..,”

Policeman – "Les Knox? You are under arrest for making improper advances to a 13 year old and calling her “sweetheart! Hands behind your back!”

Frank DeGroot – “And You’re FIRED!”

Ashley Judd – “GOOD!!!”

Ms Snooty – “What about My Order??”

This arc seems to be for the sole purpose of “stalling” while Greg develops the cliffhanger arc, starring Pru and Ann Eiffel.

This seems to be an exercise in getting Fay used to generating confidence, without “herself” to ‘get in the way’. Luann is probably realizing that if she had this getup, she would’ve been able to get up the confidence to have approach Aaron, a lot sooner!

“Your best table, my good man” see she’s not that shy.

She should attend anne eiffel’s upcoming “lingerie show”I bet you she’d learn a lot really quick.

She is soooo cute!! I should type that in caps like that actress in the glasses commercial who has too much coffee and nearly blows out the spokesowl ears. Anyway some people complain about this arc being boring, but then others complain that what happened to Luann, I thought the strip was about her? Now we have a Luann arc, and people are complaining boring. It’s a truism about human nature that many people complain as quickly as they breath almost, but I just thought I would point it out,and also note that following Luann is a marathon activity, not a sprint. Enjoy the ride, trust me hilarity, and drama will all ensure. It’s not a gag a day strip.

Anyone else thinking Eliza Doolittle? I see an Audrey Hepburn thing going on here — by George I think she’s got it!

Why doesn’t Luann have a real job? Like as an employee somewhere where some productivity is expected? And why are there so many theater nerds in this measly little town? There’s no economic future in it for anyone (Ask someone in the field, they’ll tell you it’s a perpetual state of crisis…..) I keep waiting for this strip to portray SOMETHING related to young people in the marginally realistic manner, and we get, one nonsensical plot point after another. Evans and Evans need new writers.

Here’s a real plot point: Tiffany gets caught sending a nude selfie to a guy she really likes. And of course the guy forwards it to all his buddies…. GO…..

For those of you complaining about this arc: remember the name of the strip. We have barely seen Luann other than Sundays for a very long time. So, let’s see how good our little girl is at being a mentor, huh? I for one like the grown-up Luann.

A person who is mentored is a “protegee,” not a “mentor-ee” or a “mentee” fer cryin’ out loud!

Nice, gentle story. Success being shown instead of drama. A happy event rather than an emotional telenovella.

Maybe Fay will discover and expose Ann’s devious plan as they cross paths at the Fuse. Perhaps someone else already suggested this by now

despite the naysayers, I think it’s a nice, pleasant mini-arc this week.

Fay is so cute. Who needs Luann?

Oxford is a good fellow, and brighter than he seems to casual observers. He will, I think, readily play along with Luann’s plan for “Lady Snootly” and help Fay continue to gain the confidence she needs. Avanti!

It’s a pleasure to see Ox again. The proverbial Gentle Giant. And wasn’t he the Les-tamer? And while I would have liked to see a more unpredictable direction to this story-arc, I’m happy to see Luann doing stuff she’s good at and having fun with a nice new character in the strip. At some point Luann should confess to Fay that she’s not the best person to advise on how to get a boyfriend since she’s had so little success there. But Luann is doing well here. Fay wanted to be in a show and while the Fuze isn’t hosting a play Luann is making the whole world Fay’s stage.

I’ve been disappointed with this strip for a couple years since Bernice graduated from high school and took over the strip. This makes her a usurper and I hate usurpers. I’m so happy to see Luann back as the lead character in the strip named after her.
