Uh-Oh. We had hoped Tara would make Luann a more fun person, perhaps a little personal growth, but it looks like that will not be in that direction. Tara is a wild card. Possibly a bad influence that will test Luann’s will, her goodness, sense of responsibility, doing what others expect of her, etc.
Now’s your chance. Luann. Shake off those grabby hands (did you say it was OK for her to touch you?) and tell her to have fun but you’re going to class. Then do it. If you lose her as a friend, you won’t have lost much.
Boy Greg has sure set up the larcenous mischief with Tara, her tendency to do things on the spur of the moment, her charming scamp personality, her obvious attraction (and I don’t mean sexual jeez, for those who seem to be fascinated with lesbian possibilities, girls/women can be attracted to each other for other than romantic or sexual reasons, as can men to each other) to Luann, and the idea that Luann is leading a kind of boring life in her own Luannverse. I smell a misdirection play here though. Lets let the strip drip, drip into the arc before jumping to conclusions guys.
In real college life cutting a class wouldn’t be all that big a deal. Here, however, I think it (and the fact that Luann is being pressured) signifies that Tara is trouble.
This appears to be the start of a very interesting week! Tara is very interesting as a character…. somewhat like the early years “TJ”. We already knew there was some rather sketchy background for Tara during her time at Moony, so it is no surprise that her commitment to attending all her classes is not 100% at Pitts CC either.
Now, as stated above… it is not the “biggest deal” in the world to have a college student skip a class or two. It does happen. I see it frequently. But, also true is that the better performing students DO NOT skip and will miss class only when there is a real emergency sort of situation. Skipping per say does not lead to failure…. but it shows less commitment.
Now, what will be entertaining to watch is…. how will Luann navigate this situation? She will a) of course want to maintain friendship with Tara, b) make a decision that is right for Luann, and c) also feel like she “fits in”.
From the history of Luann, I predict that Luann will feel very uncomfortable about skipping a class. She may not have always been the most stellar student, but she has never shown any inclination to skip. I am hoping she will find a good way to avoid skipping, but also maintain her “fitting in” and her friendship. That would be the best case scenario. However, getting all three of those to occur will be challenging. That is, I believe, going to be the thrust through this week. It should be very, very interesting.
Luann needs to introduce Tara to Tiffany. Luann doesn’t seem to consider fun a life priority, or at least has a different idea of fun (Criticizing actors with Fay?) then Tara. Tara and Tiffany could go start a sorority, a business or actually enjoy life together as besties. Both seem to be courageous, Tiffany is wealthy enough to finance a business, ,and the competition would seem to help give Tara some structure besides school where she has a difficult time fitting in and Tiffanies need for competition. If Tiffany is doing OK in her classes, and Tara seems to be confident enough in her Bio grades to miss a class or two, let them have fun and let Luann pursue her path to dullsville study hall. Part of being a adult is realizing when a situation isn’t working for you (College) and dropping out to pursue something you do want.
I cannot see Luann going anywhere with Tara unless she explains why it has to be done in the morning instead of in the afternoon, which by going to the body art fair, has already been established as class free time for both.
I’ll suggest that this is a free hour for the fencing lanes. Something that will not get them into trouble or even take them off campus.
Hey, it has already been established that there is a big parking problem.
To those who are snarking at Luann because she’s so dull, she just wants to go to class: she went to the body painting thing, so how is she dull? To those who say all she does is criticize actors with Fay: it was Fay who was doing that, not Luann.
We all know how this will work out. Luann will go along, because she doesn’t want to hurt TaraTiphonytwo’s feelings. Whatever ‘fun’ thing T is dragging her off to will turn out to involve something that causes trouble, and TaraTiphony will tearfully report to authorities that Luann made her do it…
Left me thinking about “group study” vs. a “study group”. Both sound skippable. If a test is looming there might be practice work sheets, which they can pick up from the instructor or another student.
Since we lost the dependable structure of the high school, we have seen a revolving door of misfits. Luann has no “world” for us to feel comfortable in. Growth pains?

Well, we know Biology class is early in the day before lunch, so it shouldn’t be bar hopping.
I don’t think it will be flashing truckers while standing in the middle of an overpass.
If she goes to far, Luann, introduce her to Les and see if they both self destruct.

Luann needs a real friend. Tara isn’t it.

Tara is a very affectionate girl, at least toward Luann. And she’s using her left hand this time. She’s ambidextrous.

Maybe they’ll have time to study after the trial.
