So is rat going to be charged with assault in the state he is in or the state that the telemarketer is in (assuming they are in different states)?Or is it a Federal crime?

The App Store could never offer that app; the server demand would crash the California power grid.

Sounds like a great app, until you realize they or their family, along with the company they work for, will turn around and sue you for everything you have. Best to just hang up on them right from the get go. Or better still, not pick up in the first place. Caller ID is a great thing.

I wonder if you’d be required to give advance notice:

Your call is annoying, to better serve society, this call will self-destruct in 5 seconds. Please keep the phone close to your head to receive the ultimate effect.

You could charge a fortune for an app like that.

I usually just say, “I’m not interested. I’m hanging up. Have a nice day.” over top of them talking, then I hang up. They’re people, too, just trying to make a living. They’ve got to be really desperate to take a job as a telemarketer.

That would be an extremely popular app.

I got tired of shaving my face everyday and called a company – I think it’s name was “No Hair” – after speaking to the rep I realized this product was not for me. I said “good bye” and hung up. A second later the rep actually called me back! I hung up several times and each time he called me back.

I’m going to change my voicemail answering message to a recording of the modem noise you used to get with a dial up connection.

I so wish that kind of an app existed

I want that app! I want to explode not only telemarketers but also all the robo-calls I get too!

I’ve actually thought of this. But for scammers, not telemarketers. I pity telemarketers. It’s their boss who should be blown up.

Why answer any unknown #! That’s what Caller ID is for!!

I love my my nomorobo.com app! You will too! The only thing they can’t block is calls from charitable organizations!

So why can’t phone companies come up with a way to stop all spoofing? That way we will know who is calling and can report the company.

I wish.

Seriously, why not an app that would quietly just do a reverse lookup of the calling number and use it to call forward/transfer your incoming call to that number so their phone will beep that they have a call pending. For 99 cents it would also just hang up for you.

My solution? If I don’t know the number on my caller I.D. I let it go to my VERY rude Answering machine message! My family and friends KNOW my message, and they think it’s a hoot, but if you DON’T know about it, it hopefully will discourage them from EVER calling back!

I’m usually at the table sewing and have my music on fairly loud. I just put the phone up to the speakers and they get an earful of Vince Gill, Linda Rae, Dwighty Yoakum, Mark Chetsnut, Waylon or a dozen others.

My experience with Nomorobo has been great! The numbers that I have reported can call back but after one ring they are automatically cut off!

Scam Likely is going to lose their scammers….

“Neighbor spamming” makes me a tad upset. If you’re not familiar, that’s when technology allows the caller to disguise his number, making it appear to be the same area code and exchange as yours. Psychologically makes you more likely to answer. I answer them with the greeting, “Kansas City Police, how can I help you?” Works every time…

This would be very useful against the caller from Windows technical support.

I thought it was ridiculous when my caller Id said I was getting a call from ‘Invalid Number’, but then I got two calls from ‘Illegal Scam’ – at least they were truthful. No, I didn’t answer any of them.

Mouse will be exploding a machine that makes all those calls. No humans allowed.

I have been known to pick up the phone and say hello…..hello…..I can’t hear you….hello? Sometimes I get them to hang up.

I set my default ring tone to “silent” and assigned an audible ring tone to everyone in my contact list. I never even hear the robocall or telemarketers or scam folks call. If the call is important they can leave a message, but they rarely do.

Telemarketers are people like us who have made a poor vocational choice (maybe the only one available?). I try to be kind but quick to escape.

Where can I get that app?

Until they actually invent that app, I’ll just have to keep the air-horn handy.

I hang up as soon as I recognize that it’s a robot-call of any sort. But an app like that would really be so much more fun!
