Gotta loathe the words “some assembly required.” Do the retailers think the customers are fans of Ingvar Kamprad from Elmtaryd and Agunnaryd?

Oh Gee Whiz! The Lads can’t afford decent new furniture with $783. What a nasty surprise1 (Rolls Eyes)

Well, they can head down to Goodwill or the Salvation Army and buy 3rd hand stuff. Or they can go to the “Rent-To-Own” place and buy stuff at 500% interest.

Or one or both the young lads can meet up with and start dating a wealthy middle-age “Cougar,” who’ll “sponsor” furniture for them in exchange for….., Well….,

Other that, their “options” are a bit limited.

PS: Oh Yeah. Al could buy them new furniture when he gets back, after he YELLS at them for 45 minutes for selling Irma’s furniture…..,

For pete’s sake, just buy one sofa. That’s all you need. All others are affordable and could be purchased one piece by one piece over time. Only the sofa is expensive and a quality sofa is a good investment.

Hopefully Crystal and Knute can take them to the thrift-stores, or as my friends like to say, they can go in for some Urban Archaeology. Then there’s do-it-yourself provisions, like the classic brick-and plank bookshelves, crate end-table, or the homemade desk like the one I’m typing on right now, consisting of planks laid between a secondhand filing cabinet and a hardware-store metal shelf, with a slide-out keyboard tray bolted under the planks. You don’t have to spend a lot of money, just be creative.

Box o Furniture? This so reminds me of when, after my grandmother died I sold a whole apartment full of furniture for a price I am ashamed to admit, and regretted it forever, both for practical reasons, and emotional ones. Oh well, they have to improvise, hopefully lesson learned. Maybe Uncle Al will come to the rescue.

I got out of the service and bought a house. I had some used furniture and went furniture shopping and blanched. The prices were unreal. I wound up building my furniture from scratch. All assembly was required. Most of the furniture in the house is either stuff I bought used or built.

The lesson here is they should have gone to the store first and determined how much money they needed. With that information they just might have realized they were better off holding on to what they had. That is called executive planning.

Came here for some cartoon entertainment and got another episode of The Boring Twins , Series 2 Episode 5.

This arc is so bad that even the comments today read like a bunch of Facebook entries:

Headed to Fine Furniture From Finland with Les and the Gun-man.

@ FFFF. Bummed out by the lame furniture and downer prices. See pics. Saw an empty cable spool on the side of the road. We’ll pick it up on the way home. It’ll make a boss table. It’s the same shape as pizza.

On my way back to Les and Gunner’s crash pad in my truck. Picked up a cable-table, a six pack, a dozen donuts and two large Meat Monster Supremes from Imo’s Pizza Palace.

SWEET! These guys know how to PAW-TEE!!

Greg and Karen, please! Have mercy on us. PLEASE!?!?

That’s how we picked up our Lazy boy Set. Couch, love seat, and recliner for 150 bucks. REALLY nice condition and only 9 years old. Non Smoker/Pet home.

ARRRGHHH!!!! I am totally mystified with this whole arc. The BIG WEDDING IN LOST WAGES takes up one strip! ONE!!! Yet talking about furniture, moving furniture, selling furniture, shopping for furniture goes on for weeks! What’s next? Purchasing furniture, assembling furniture, arguing about furniture placement, running out of ideas about how to string this furniture arc out even more excruciatingly but some how finding a way to torture the readers even longer with furniture?

Are we supposed to be seeing Gunther and Les coming to some sort of detant in their relationship? Surely that could have been done with less PAIN!

Starting with the deal Les made with his mother, EVERY arc has been about conflict resolution in one way or another. Or, at least, abatement. Once this arc is milked out I suppose we might expect Tiffany, he father and Ann all to move into a happy place? “There’s the signpost up ahead; Toon Town.” Cue music Let a Smile Be Your Umbrella.

Scenes I’d Like to See #832

Gunther – “Rats! All my $783 bought was one small love seat, a lamp table and a lamp! I Should have kept my Mom’s Old furniture!”

Le$ – “Aw FLAKE-Off, Gunth! That love seat will be PERFECT for Me and Tiff…., Uh I MEAN, You and Me to sit in!”

Gunther – “Say. Where’s My sewing machine? Have You seen My sewing machine, Le$?!!?”

    Le$ – “Well I uhhh, mmmm, errr…….,”

    Gunther – “LE$-WHERE-IS-MY-SEWING MACHINE????”

Le$ – "Okay, OKAY! I Sold it, alright? And I got 25 Bucks for it! Besides, this a “Man Cave” and We don’t filled up with a bunch of Siss…, WAIT! What are You going to do with that Ginsu Knife?!!? Wait, STOP….., NOOOOOOOO…..,"

And later, while a weeping Irma buried her head in husband Al’s mighty chest, the police led a smiling, vindicated Gunther away in handcuffs. Meanwhile, detectives were sickened to see that someone had written “Helter-Skelter” in blood upon the Gulag’s walls…….,

Funny that “Luann Againn” is about shopping, too. Only that is back-to-school shopping, with Frank thinking that he can quickly accomplish helping Luann buy the clothes she figures will make her school year (meaning she will want to take forever, and find something that will attract a boyfriend). Meanwhile, this Gunther and Les arc is kind of back-to-the-future, with two totally different guys trying to furnish a tiny house they are shoe-horned into, in a way that would help them tolerate each other (and help attract female company)…
