Well, the old rivalry is back. Yeah, G & K is bringing back the old high school drama – the only arc they know and are comfortable with. G & K, please. They grew up, moved on from high school. Tiffany’s type is wealthy men, not Jack. She is looking to marry well. Give him a millionaire’s son. Leave Jack alone. BTW, looks like Jack was invited to teach the kids about exercise. See the mat?
Well this comes as no surprise. The “Special Guest” is Jack.
So let the “war” begin. A “war” that Tiffany will ultimately LOSE, as usual. Unfortunately, her next “target” will probably be the worthless Le$. And there’s a possibility, however remote, that even “He” may ignore her, after he uses her.
Speaking of the worthless Le$, I wonder what girl he and Gunther are going to fight over now?
Tiffany is back for another week! Jack might be good for her at this point in her life. Several times, Tiffany meets a boy just to have Luann end up with him, and when their relationship fizzles, Greg gets rid of them. Go Tiffany, it’s your turn!
So we’re going back to this old song-and-dance, huh? Goody….
Also, I’d mention how inappropriate it is for a daycare worker to invite someone she’s dating to their workplace, but Luann and her friends have always been able to get away with acting unprofessional/ inappropriate since they’re the Designated Heroes of the strip (remember the nude drawing class she was inexplicably allowed to just waltz into? How about when Quill got to yell at Tiffany in the middle of a dress rehearsal? Or Bernice’s entire tenure as an RA?). Yeah, consequences are for other people (well, mostly just Tiffany.)
Okay the melocomedicdrama is about to occur, as predicted. It seems to be the same old conflct, and Jack being “Mr. Man” has a certain almost animal attraction, generally, plus he is flirtatious, and likes women, which is quite normal for a healthy young man. Luann likes him, although it may not be a romance just yet, and well Tiffany is naturally attracted a real male kind of guy. The issue is who will be adult, Jack, and focus on Luann, Luann and not get overly annoyed with Tiffany, and Tiffany not the usual competition with Luann. Or something entirely different. Let the games begin!
If my memory’s correct Tiffany has already had (or claims to have had) at least one ‘hot’ date with Jack, so she’s entitled to a melodious hello. She’s certainly getting back to her old self. Of course if it comes to a contest Luann will win. She always does.
Sheesh, this again? Tiffany shoves poor little lackluster Luann in the background, in front of her kids no less, and takes over things. Jack will now be distracted all week because he’s too stupid to see how manipulative Tiffany is. And Luann will just mope around in the shadows and perhaps realize that nothing at all has changed since high school.
To quote famed star Jackie Gleason, “And awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay we goooo!”
Ah, the classic Lu vs. Tiff battle. We’ll see where this goes, but I suspect not very far, and not in Tiff’s favor. Tiff, Gunther is your man. Embrace it… and him…. :)
Well this is predictable and predicted. Has Greg run out of new stuff? Someone (mebbe me) predicted that if Jack showed up Tiff, as her old reverted self, would take immediate interest. Not unexpected. She was looking for football types. He’s one in spaces. Looks like he’s gone from life model to life coach.
At the end of the dog park arc, many folks said Jack got the “just friends” brush off from Luann. If Greg (I like his picture on the wall) now “reverts to norm” LuAnn’s interest in Jack will suddenly perk up. I await Tiff’s reaction to finding out Jack is a “life model.”
As opposed to his primary characters, Jack’s character seems drawn somewhat haphazardly. Going back thru the strips he varies from Neanderthal to semi-svelte. Compare to Tara, Nil and Prof Zeno for instance. They are always drawn exactly the same.
Hey fans. One year ago tomorrow we were introduced to Tara. Maybe she’ll return soon and get Luann to scratch off another item from her “itch list.” Come back Harley-girl!
Now, While I didn’t think jack was right for Luann. He is what Tiffany needs right now. Her wanting to change her life. I think he would be a great option.
This strip has so many great characters in it. It should be turned in to a comic book so they can all be used more often. Thats why we have Lunn “before” also.
Tiffany hiring Jack as her “Personal Trainer,” much to the chagrin of Luann in 3…..,2…..,1…..,
And all of that B-S that Tiffany was spouting last week about being happy with her plus size will go right out the window, because she was putting up a FRONT. Besides, what better way to show up and pointlessly compete with Luann, than Tiffany spending as much time with Jack as possible, and rubbing that fact in Lu’s face?
Jack will help get Tiffany back to her Old Self Physically, but will NOT be attracted to her, and will prefer Luann over Tiffany.
Just like Aaron Hill did.
Just like Miguel once did.
Just Q-Ball once did.
Tiff will go Boo-Hooing to Gunther, who WILL heroically comfort her despite his own personal suffering. For one brief shining moment, Tiffany will realise that Gunther is the best friend she’s ever going to get, and will slowly re-warm to him, only to abandon him five minutes later because she just remembered she likes “bad boys” and she’ll turn her attention to Le$ WHO, after all but ignoring her, will be re-attracted to the Old Slim Tiffany.
Gunther will sulk until he meets his next “love interest” which will have all the charm and personality of flowered wallpaper and who, in her spare time, is a certified “train-wreck.” But that’s okay because its only “Gunther.” And THAT should take Us right on up to the 2020 elections!
Mordock999 slipped an interesting thought in a reply to his own comment earlier. Perhaps Jack will take on Tiff as a fitness project and she will return to her “fighting form.” And… maybe go a few rounds with Jack. To Luann’s chagrin, no doubt.
To the realSheriff Mordecai: Has your account been hacked? Some of your (?) responses seem somewhat out-of-character for you. Particularly responses to Rosette and Joe Petitjean, above.
Jack: Man up and either tell Tiff you are not interested and Luann you are or vice versa. Luann: Go to the principles office after this and explain that Tiff is creating a distraction by showing up unannounced and wasting class time, please speak to her about it and don’t let it happen again. And tell Tiff point blank that you are not interested in Jack and she can ask him out if she wants, otherwise stop being a snark. Tiff: Keep doing what your doing, working on your new brand and enjoying men’s attentions. And consider dropping out of college. Academia will not help you flourish.
Ugh…Tiffany is back, just a couple of sizes larger. Boring. Would have been more interesting to see that Tiffany had indeed matured. Jack is a polite young man, so will be pleasant with Tiff, though I don’t think there is anything more there. Luann did say that she was focusing on herself after breaking up with Quill. Maybe she just doesn’t want a boyfriend right now, no matter how good a guy Jack is.
Jack is a jock. I’m sure he has experience with girls throwing themselves at him. And I also think that would roll off his back. He’s a nice guy and isn’t going to fall for Tiff’s “charms”
Can the artists decide whether Tiffany is supposed to be plus-size or not? Today she looks maybe about 5 or at the very most 10 pounds heavier than Luann. That is not plus-sized. It’s well within the range of “normal”.
Fairly predictable. I have to say that while Tiffany and Luann getting into a ruckus about a boy is nothing new…. the nice & new part is that Greg is showing Tiffany having confidence with potential suitors, whereas previously during her size changes, she had a lack of confidence.
What I am hoping , however, is that Greg has this “T & L Ruckus Arc” be very short-lived (used only to establish Tiffany’s confidence in this matters) and that quickly we move onward. With that in mind:
1. Jack is dressed in such a way that he appears to be prepared to engage the kids in exercise (the exercise mat also suggests that as well).
2. Presuming exercise is the plan…. where is Greg going to lead us?
A. Is Jack going to be “PSA” material to highlight the need for kids to exercise too?
B. Is the exercise arc going to end with an accident of some sort like happened with bowling? Perhaps in this case Luann causes an injury for Jack? Or Jack again accidentally injures Luann?
3. If Tiffany gets the upper hand here and Jack interacts with her instead of Luann, I will be disappointed in Greg…. but I doubt this will happen. I tend to think A) Tiffany is better off not being in a relationship at this time…. she needs to continue to grow and develop independently, and B) while I also believe Luann does not need a relationship at the moment, either, I think the friendship between Luann and Jack is very interesting and nice to observe.
Right now, with Jack showing up for an exercise program, that might be something Tiff might want to learn from – that is, if she has any desire to lose those extra pounds and fit back into her old self.
A couple days ago I said if Luann’s guest is Jack – they’re going to be an item. But of course Tiffany pops in – and we are back to tossing a coin where it will all go.
Remind me – the reason for aging these characters from high school to college was so that they could re-enact the same scenarios that they went through over and over again in high school? If these antics were judged to be getting stale and tedious after years of going through them in a high school setting, does changing the setting really pump new vitality into them?
Every time Tiffany has shown a modicum of growth she then slide back into her old ways. Stealing a guy who Luann likes is so High School. Before her weight gain Tiffany was going to college, showing an empathic side as she helped Gunther and even showed a friendlier side to Bernice and others. And now she seems to be going back to the old petty, self aggrandizing Tiffany.
I guess Jack is pretty Special, particularly in Luann’s eys, and the kids will probably like him, too. Tiffany does, for sure. And Luann know it and is Not Amused. Too bad, Lu!
