So much for any speculation that yesterday’s strip was about Nancy spotting a tattoo on Luann’s back. That story line would definitely have bled into today’s strip!

I suppose that would be somewhat interesting if Luann took Pru’s advice and wore nothing but earplugs. Heck, Jack posed in the nude, and Nil was wearing nothing but a “Censored” sign covering his private particles. Tara goes commando, and Puddles doesn’t even wear a collar. What is this coming to?

Hmmm…definitely not the green blouse with wiggly squares you wore to your Chemistry class earlier this week. Pru, Luann needs help with dressing better.

In case Prudence doesn’t tell you, Luann, besides the earplugs (really needed), you probably need, at the very least, a warm sweater (they usually try to keep the arenas cold for the drivers) or a coat. If you go with a sleeveless top, you’ll probably freeze. Wear sneaks or some other shoe that’s good for running, in case you get a chance to go into the pit and get autographs from the drivers. Carry cash because snacks and parking both cost a lot and you don’t want to worry about a credit card. If you want pix, don’t bring a smartphone or fancy camera, just a point and shoot type thing. And if your eyes are bothered by fumes, bring eye drops…

And blue jeans. Obviously.

Or, they could go to the tractor pulls. I hear Tiff is competing in the pulls, but without a tractor.

Yes, earplugs, if it’s indoors like a few I’ve seen at “The Cow Palace” just south of San Francisco. If the ventilation is as poor then an oxygen tent would help too.

Pru’s still living with Luann’s family?? Good Lord, it’s been what, three or four years now? You’d think by now she would have at least found a studio apartment somewhere and moved out.

Hearing loss like brain damage is permanent. Hearing aids do not restore “Normal” hearing. That is why there is such concern over loud noises now. I know.

Luann has a very neat closet compared to the rest of her room…and world. Wonder if Tiffany’s closet looks like a Victoria’s Secret closet (Plus size), with a few of Gunther’s things tucked away in a discrete little corner?

Well I always like seeing Pru, although I have this fantasy that Delta will come back to Pittsville, and she being a (possibly) closeted gay woman, meets Pru and sparks fly. I think they would be mature enough to have a totally mature type same sex romantic relationship, but that is only a fantastical storyline. I am sure Luann will have an appropriate outfit, with Pru’s help, and since this is Saturday, we can expect the arc next week to be all about Jack, Luann, and Tara. Hilarity, and possible “chemistry” will ensue, and G and K will have new drawing opportunities drawing those monster trucks. Should be fun.

Idiot’s way to misinterpret this: Prudence is telling Luann to wear no clothes, only earplugs. Those monster truck rallies must be getting sleazier every year.

You know, I misunderstood Prudence at first—didn’t realize she meant something as obvious as “monster truck shows make noise, so wear earplugs.” Thought she was mocking Luann’s clothes as too loud (thus necessitating earplugs). Then I looked more closely at the clothes and realized they aren’t loud

Interesting mental image evoked. Of course the idea is that earplugs are essential, other attire useful to avoid arrest or — in my case — causing a breakdown, but specifics much less important.

I’m still totally baffled why the worldly New Yorker Prudence lives in this sad little town where nothing ever happens for her “career.” Also for a lesbian character, she’s certainly not very interesting and never seems to do anything other than wait tables and hang around Luann’s house….. Time for her to go home I think.

I may be way off, but I think Greg may be on a well deserved vacation. There is something about the way Pru is drawn that is just a little off. His signature seems to be “not quite”. Also, I know that it is hard to always move in story form, and maybe he was having an off day but this is more “jocular” rather than his normal “story telling” style.

What you’re wearing ought to be fine, Luann - though if it’s like the tractor pulls I’ve been to, consider something long-sleeved to go over that tank. I was trackside and found my jacket covered in tiny burn marks caused by still-hot soot from the tractor exhausts. Didn’t like ruining the jacket but better the jacket than my skin. And a ballcap for the same reason, or if the show is outside.--On a side note, I like Pru’s character design, particularly her facial expressions, or the way Evans draws her “flitting” into the panel sometimes.

Haven’t seen Pru in a long while. I hope we’ll be getting a story arch soon that features her.
