Well, I was hoping they’d switch away to another arc this week. Saturday did portend a bit of suspense.
I like and agree with the many last week who said that Tiffany ought to just leave, not even sitting down. With this setup on Monday, we can see that ain’t happening.
Worst case scenario: It does appear that Ann already has her hooks into Tom ‘s money. Did I say worst? Well, it looks like it’s already getting worse; Ann is already exercising authority over Tiffany.
All in all, nothing looks good for Tiffany at this point. And things just look to get worse as the week wears on…
Forget Ann Awful – the more appropriate moniker is Ann Evil. She’s got Tiffany’s father wrapped around her little finger, and I don’t think she’s planning to use that superpower for good!
“Fresh Start? Okay Pop. But first things first! How’s about REINSTATING My Allowance to its Former Ridiculously HIGH Standard? Oh, and speaking of less, have YOU met Les Yet? You Know, Les? ANN’S SON?? You mean She hasn’t TOLD You about Les? Well don’t go anywhere just yet! Sit Tight! You’re gonna Love thi…., Ann? WHERE Are Going Dearie???” – Tiffany Farrell
I’d sort of forgotten what a great story teller Greg can be during the month-long dinner (etc. ) at the guest house, and that little Shannon interlude. But Greg’s exquisite story-telling skills are really on display in that last frame, and especially that last line. It doesn’t get much better than that!
Saturday, someone here did a long dissertation on what Tiffany’s dad would tell her regarding giving Evil Ann all the money and taking everything away from Tiffany, then forgiving all in the past. Hoo boy, they were almost right on.
Ann says, “I’m sure she can, Tom, with all the therapy we paid for.” Sounds like Ann is baiting Tiffany to overreact – whereby Tom decides to arrange more therapy – or medication…
“Control” That is what this is all about. Control over him, and since he controls the money, control over Tiffany as well. He is nether, worse than Jonah is as a parent to Shannon. At least Shannon has a loving aunt, uncle-in-law, and the DeGroot, and the overall warmth of Luannverse. Tiffany is existentially screwed at this point. Rescue, of some kind we need to see in the worst way. She lost Les, but gains Tom and control over the life of Tiffany. Sociopathic witch.
Uh oh! Can it be that Ann is really Tiffany’s missing mother? That would give credence to the remark about all the money “we’ve” spent on therapy. Could Tom be Les’s missing father? Just wondering. If so, does Al Grey know about this? Irma may need to set a few more places at the Thanksgiving dinner table.
Agree that Tiffany should just say, “Well, this isn’t what we agreed to and I have no intention of making nice with this woman after all that’s happened, so enjoy your lunch, bye” and walk out.
she should excuse herself to the powder room to call Les and have him join them. then before he arrives tell them that she called her boyfriend to join them so they can meet him and make it a foursome. then watch Ann’s face as Les walks in.
Hey folks! Sorry I’ve been a little busy of late. I’ll be honest… I’m a little hesitant to comment on this particular arc because it hits a little too close to home. The only advice I can give Tiff is that sometimes, it’s just better to let a toxic relationship go…. even if it is with one of your parents.
Well this took a nasty turn. I think Tiff should pretend to go along in order to get her allowance back and lure Ann into a false sense of security. Then she finds a way to “accidentally” let her dad know what sort of woman Ann really is. Sad thing is I’m not sore he cares. He seems awfully besotted with her.
It looks bad right now, but in the previous two Ann Awful arcs a White Knight appears and Ann is banished from the strip for awhile. Brad, Bernice, TJ, Shannon, Toni (I think) and maybe even Puddles have had bad run ins with Ann.
I’ll make a bold prediction here and say Al and/or Irma will wind up providing the karma-esque solution to this latest episode/arc.
Perhaps the solution will also repair the Tiffany and Daddy Tom rift so the main characters can go about their drama impacted lives without criminal activity for a while. (Until Ann rears her lovely head again.)
Bold Prediction#2 Sometime, in the future, Tara’s being left at the party will reappear. Again with dramatic consequences for Luann and Jack. (♬)Dump, Dump, Dummmm….(♬)
Sorry, I still don’t believe Ann didn’t tell Tom about her son. She’s a con artist, a real pro. She’d cover all her bases. After all, Tom believed everything she said about Tiff; she could put any kind of spin she wanted on her story about Les.
And if she didn’t, then she’s not as clever as she’s being made out to be.
Curious . . . is Tiffany’s father going to be like that character Downwind in “Smilin’ Jack”, whose face (alleged to drive women mad with desire) is never seen?
At this point, I think the Ann Eiffel thing has gotten out of hand.
Along with Tara and Les.
We’re introducing actual criminals into this comic strip, but for the most part, we are not allowing consequences for criminal behavior.
luann1212 pooh-poohed that thought repeatedly, especially before we knew who Tara was; after all, all was nothing more than a so-called plot device.
Okay, so I, along with some other readers of this strip, also follow Dick Tracy (and my current avatar is a DT parody), but after a point, criminal activity such as has been suggested by G&K by certain members of this cast cannot go unaddressed forever.
I am not a Tiff fan but dang…I’m rooting for her on this one. Ann Eiffel is nothing but a back stabbing two faced gold digger….She makes Tiff look like Pollyanna!
I wouldn’t mind having a fresh start to the strip. All it is now is odd-couple conflict. Gunther and what’shisname, and now these two. I would just like a nice uncontrived, unrecycled plot.
There’s a slim possibility that many people haven’t considered here.
Maybe, just MAYBE Tiffany will actually stay and hear Ann out. And in the end, decide that she’ll try to get along, with Tiffany.
And maybe, Just MAYBE, Ann will actually hold out an “Olive Branch” and at least “try” get along with Tiffany. Ann’s got NOTHING to LOSE by trying and everything to GAIN by putting up a successful “front.”
The wildcard here is Les Knox. He’s gonna go completely APE when he finds out what goes down here this week. And You can BET that “He” will the first person Tiff contacts either BEFORE or AFTER this “Meeting.”
A couple more things:
I predict Tiffany will get out of this situation sooner or later, or at the very least, learn to deal with it and be a better person for it.
Gunther on the other hand, who is in a similar bad fix, is SCREWED.
Tom “Cat” Ferrell (also notice the last name is similare to “Feral”) is, IMO , NOT blind to Tiffany’s desire to have had lunch with him alone. He is also, IMO , well aware that Ann is a “bit” conniving. He is also, IMO , one of those fathers who does not really give much of a damn about the kid(s) they have sired… and he figures he has been “Dad of the Year” because he had been taking care of his financial responsibilities from his proclivities (Tiffany).
That he is going to be summarily “shooed away” from the lunch by Ann, even with the protestation of Tiffany…. shows to me he is either
1. Utterly clueless (not likely)
2. A self-centered, egomaniac (VERY likely)
3. A pathetically emotionally dwarfed human being who sees everything as cash flow. (likely)
The way this is appearing to be written…. I would think it is best for Tiffany to quit trying to get any attention or love from her “paternal” genetic provider…. and life life as large as possible while he still foots the bill (or better yet, go spend as freely as she can on his credit card while it still works), and then return the items for a refund and put those in the bank to have a cushion as she figures out how to go out on her own.
The reality is, that the above will not happen of course…. Tiffany is likely heading for another huge, downward emotional spiral.
Since we are seeing virtually no physical movement from Tom, I wonder how long it will take for Tiffany to realize that Ann has replaced her father with a robot?
Ann’s a real manipulator. She’s purposely sending Tom off so that she can have a few private words with Tiffany. I can bet that Ann will threaten her. tom is so oblivious to everything. Let’s just hope he “wakes up” soon, or else he will lose a daughter.
The statute of limitations hasn’t yet expired on Ann’s lingerie fraud. She could still be arrested for selling thousands of dollars worth of phony merchandise, except apparently no one at the Fuse (where the crime occurred) cares enough about it to report it to the cops, or even to let the 100+ victims know that they were swindled.
Tom Farrell sounds like a boss at a meeting, leading everyone weith the company line, swinging the executive’s version of a shepherd’s crook: “Just be quiet and go make me some money…. and don’t mess up the break room!”
Tiresome. We get it. Ann is evil. Tom is a bad father that Tiffany still wants validation from. Tiffany should stand up for herself and walk away instead of always being manipulated.
