It’s Christmas! Let’s kill a tree! Maybe the only flaw with the tradition. For a few years we had a live one growing in the front yard that we would decorate with lights each year, and an artificial in the house to put presents under (no pine sap or needles to clean up later!)
Celebrating the Winter Solstice with, in some areas, decorated trees, predates Christianity by many centuries. Indeed, December 25th was chosen as the date to celebrate the Nativity in an attempt to make it a “Christian” celebration. Considering the amount of drinking and carousing along with rampant consumerism associated with the season, one might argue the idea failed.
No, it isn’t the prehistoric past it is a terrible future where humanity starts over. With some high tech help from us. All the animals and some plants along with the people have been manufactured to survive that hot dry humid future. Most current humans could not survive in that time.

Under Grog’s rough exterior is a softer interior.
Best wishes to all for a wonderful holiday season and a new year that is all you wish it to be.

The colors are beautiful today: so comforting and serene. (I can hear a soft voice way back in the background “I’d like to teach the world to sing…”)
