This is a conversation I had with my husband on Wed. I wanted to go to Five Guys for lunch. He said no because they give you too many fries. I said just don’t eat them. We went elsewhere.
Fries are clearly addictive and bad for your health. That means that those who make them available to us are morally equivalent to drug pushers. Sue them, and we should have plenty of loot to pay for Medicare for All.
For that year, anyway.
Of course, there are the millions of jobs that would be lost, but hey, that would make the newly unemployed that much more dependent on the government.
At places with free soda refills, if they refill just before I push off from the table, I can’t resist drinking it. So I walk away from the table completely bloated.
Our nation has an obesity problem — stemming, IMO, from:
1) Our parents constantly harping on us to “clean our plates.”
2) The serving sizes in restaurants have grown huge — and because we hear our parent’s words in our heads long after they’re gone, we still feel compelled to “clean our plates.”
3) Our desire to “get as much for our money as possible.” For example, I was at a restaurant yesterday and ordered a salad. The “full size” salad was $9. The “half size” salad (which in my experience is usually a “third size” salad") was $6. I ordered the full size salad (even though I was not that hungry) because I couldn’t justify paying 2/3 of the price for 1/3 of the food.
Reference to Five Guys, who, no matter what size your fries are, dump an extra pan of them into the bag. When I was dieting years ago (but I can’t give up my fav burger – lets not comment on my choice there), i specifically asked them not to do that, because if they were there, I’d eat them. and I didn’t need those extra calories.

what would be considered “less fries”? only one fry?

French, curly, waffle, Texas doesn’t matter; the operative word here is FRIES.

substitute cheese fries for plain french fries – then it’ll just be one big glob instead of several individual fries
problem solved…

I rarely eat fries, but they’re hard to resist at In ’N Out…. only they give you a giant pile.
I’ve tried asking for half as many, explaining that I’ll pay for a whole order, but can’t eat it all.
They say the same thing… just don’t finish it.
I tell them I just can’t throw food away, or resist eating too many… but they “can’t” do it. Rules.

You have to store uneaten Fries in the proper location; between the drivers seat & the center console of the car, of course!

Can’t you just order something else, or not Pig out?

I may or may not be able to resist fries, depending on how they make them. But put onion rings in front of me, and they will be eaten.

Pig, I fear you have no idea what “free will” may entail. What about courage? Fortitude? Persistence?
And if you must have an unsurmountable weakness, why is it french fries?!
