Okay Luann, just WHY would knowing that Gunther & Betts are having sex make you uncomfortable? Maybe you should do some soul searching on that one. Is it because (A) you’re jealous, or (B) he has a love life, and you don’t? Or is it both? No one is stopping you from having a love life, Luann, except you.

I like that in the first panel that Gunther told her how it is supposed to be between friends! Nice try in the 2nd panel of Luann trying to wheedle her way out. Then in the last panel, finally telling the truth!

same here i wonder what’s gonna happen next? i think he’s gonna soften up a bit after that last remark though. i would not blame him if he did but he still should tell her how wrong she was too.

Luann, just apologize.

She may have snooped but (in my opinion) it was Tiffany that lit the damned thing on fire and really got the ball rolling.

“No one is stopping you from having a love life, Luann, except you.” I would hope that Luann would want to find the right guy. Yes, she could have a “love life” tomorrow, but why settle for just anybody who comes along, whether she loves him or not? Perhaps she’s more particular than that.

So Luann wanted to know Gunther and bets love life without asking them because she didn’t want to feel uncomfortable? That’s how you get info from someone, by asking them. Geez luann, must you be chock full of indecisiveness and inaction because you’re worried about how it could make YOU feel?

We still have cool hand Gunth.

Okay, Luann, you’re uncomfortable asking Gunther about his love life, and you went to LES, the sleazy womanizer, and another guy, for intel on your friend’s love life? I think it’s not about being uncomfortable, Luann. You KNEW it is none of your business so you knew not to ask Gunther and was COUNTING on Les to give you the intel you wanted. I bet you were surprised and disappointed that Les told you to scam rather than give you any info. Gunther is smart and he already figured that out. He probably is too nice to call you out on it. He’ll let you retain your poor excuse to save face. The important thing is he called you out for being nosy.

The main issue then is that Gunther and Luann have moved far enough apart from each other where they are no longer talking on a regular basis. How long has it been since we have seen them alone talking?

Panel 3 & 4, Gunther is not buying this at all.

Anyone who advertises themselves on social media the way Bets and Gunther do should realize that they will be the center of gossip. Learn to live with it if you want to “go Hollywood.”

Classic Luann, backtracking on herself, or should I say, wimping out!!

Hey – I think Luann perceived it would be uncomfortable for both. Also I believe if Luann had asked Gunther directly he might lie.

The past 2-3 weeks has been dreadfully boring. Too much attention seeking. Too much gossiping. Too much getting angry because gossipy people responded to your attention seeking behavior. Enough already.

No…These days they talk or text smartphone to smartphone.

Hey – I think this arc might find a good conclusion if Bets has a talk with Luann. Maybe even a nice talk that straightens Luann out (but without answering Luann’s question).

The lack of honest ownership as to motivation is as American as apple pie.

Tiffany didn’t think of the consequences of her actions, Tiffany seem not to have thought at all.

Luann confronted, and she is to confront herself. Why is she so interested in his love life, that she had to go this totally dishonest nosy tour to try to finf out? My guess is that she wants to be intimate, she that stage beyond the horizon, but it amazes her that “dweeb” Gunther apparently has it and she doesn’t. She needs to come to terms with herself, and realize it is not all about herself I think. Being the optimist I am I think that will be the end result, then she will be ready for someone, when that situation presents itself, I bet won’t be date-oic either, it’s already there.

In the spirit of the “Garfield Without Garfield” strips, I’ve condensed today’s offering in my mind.

Imagine these four panels minus color, minus verbiage, minus all the art except for Gunther’s left eyebrow.

Re-title it “Lefty Left Alone.”

That deflection tactic probably would have worked on him in high school Luann, but Gunther has some confidence, life experience, and maturity now. You may like him and consider him a friend, but he’s not the ‘dweeb’ you once knew! It’s time you start respecting him!

Why is it important to her? Why does Luann need to know the sexual details of her friends life?

The issue isn’t to whom she spoke. The issue is her need to know. What drives that need? As long as the need remains, the snooping will remain.

Now Gunther needs to set her straight that it’s none of her blankety-blank-blank business.

this is a really boring arc. Feels like the conversation is fake and stilted. Chances Gunther’s mother doesn’t already follow him and Bets on IG is zero, anyway.

In real life no one would have to ask, because it’s 2020 and secular college students tend to have sex with the people they’ve been seeing for months. These people are freaks. Or maybe, you know, freakishly written. So, what else is new. BTW this is entirely too much Gunther. What’s it been, a month?

If Gunth is so concerned about privacy, he’d better talk to Betts about putting their entire lives on social media!

Luann’s problem here is that she doesn’t want to admit she’s wrong so she’s digging the hole deeper. She should have apologized yesterday in the last panel. But now we have to watch her try and fail to feed bs excuses to Gunther for the rest of the week. Next up, (hopefully) Tiff gets a passive agressive chew-out from Bets.

Yesterday, I thought Luann would say sorry and try to make it up. But you can tell just by looking at her face, she doesn’t even feel bad about it. This is last week all over in that it highlights Luann’s flaws and annoys everyone.

It would be uncomfortable for Luann mainly because she would be also be asked questions about HER love life, or lack thereof!

So we’re going to talk about our love lives… friend to friend. Yeah, no! Won’t happen!

So far this is pointing toward an inane discussion about privacy among friends between Gunther and Luann.

When he should be having this conversation with Bets!

Gunther and Luann are something more than “just friends” and we all know it.

Remember when Gunther and Bets first met, Luann tried to put cold water on it. What is Luanns real feelings about Gunther. We may soon find out

So the point is that Luann can’t calmly discuss about sex with others because the subject gives her anxiety and makes her uncomfortable. I think the last Sunday table was set at the right time to underline this fact. Luann’s embarrassment has put her good friend Gunther in trouble, I really hope she’ll decides to do something to deal with her block. Maybe with the help of a psychologist, if it too hard for her alone. That would be a good thing.

Since the Gulag adventure and all the dating app arcs, I think Greg is signaling that Luann is finally seeing Gunther as a man, a sexual being. So far Gunther’s been a clothier, school mentor, shoulder to cry on…. The big brother Brad never was until recently. She came close with the near-snogging event at that almost-a-date night in the Gulag. _(sorry for the Brit idiom, to snog_, but it fits) Now he’s “Gun.” Getting it on (possibly) with another female.

Where are you taking this, Greg? To the long anticipated sunrise scene the morning after? What repercussions that would have!!! :o)

Gunther is a good friend. He is addressing the issue directly with Luann, maintaining a healthy boundary, but not cutting her off.

I’m starting to think that Luann is hiding something from Gunther.

How in the world does a friend ask “So..you and Bets doin’ it yet?” “So..Gunth..haven’t seen you in a while…what’s new? gettin’ any?” This is crazy!

Is Gunther saying he would have told her about his love life if she asked? I rather doubt it. My friends don’t ask about mine and I wouldn’t ask them about theirs. His love life is none of her business.

“Who died and made you deity” is one comment I usually get when I frustrated with a particular arc. Another is “Don’t let the screen door hit you where the good Lord split you.”

But this really is getting to be too much.

I think the truth lies somewhere between CreativeChef and random boredom ‘s comments above.

I was hoping Gunther would have moved on to Tiffany by now. Frankly, Tiff and Lu are “co-equal” in this mess. As one poster said, Tiffany carried the torch. But Luann is the one who lit it.

As for me, I’m with Mordy: This arc was over Saturday. He drove home the point Monday.

All that’s left now is watching the agony of De Groot.

Yes and he is waiting for the apology, which, to be fair she could not just blurt out. Remember people: He took command the minute she opened the door and did not let her speak until he had made his point. Of course her reaction would be to try to rationalize to him her reasons, in a vain effort to let that be ok, but let’s not forget this conversation has literally only taken minutes. She has not really had a chance to think of that. I find that if you really want to know if something takes a long time in these dialogues, go back and read them out loud after first looking at the clock. read them like you would say them. When you are done look at the clock again. I guarantee that only short minutes will have actually passed.

That beep-beep-beeping sound you hear is Luann backing out, and not – (yet) – apologizing for parking in Gunther’s personal space!!

Gunther told her straight out that “friends don’t snoop.” Good for him. I hope that before the week is out G&K let Luann have the grace not to mention the good manners to give Gunth a heartfelt apology, and not just continue to stand there trying to make lame excuses for herself. I don’t know though, I sometimes think Lu’s creators don’t like her very much.

I also hope Gunth tells Lu that he may forgive her——eventually——-but he’ll never completely trust her again. She lost his trust as well she should.

I’m still boggled by the idea of Luann and co. acting like Gunther and Bets being intimate is some sort of scandal. It’s like the entire cast mentally regressed back to the 80s.

Gunther comes to see Luann, that means they share something, They’re friends. So go ahead and ask if he’s screwing around. If he is and it bothers you, tell him, “I think I’m a little jealous.” If it doesn’t bother you, then tell him, “Sorry, but we’ve been friends forever and I just have to look out for you.”

Maybe she’s trying to sabotage Gunther and Bet’s relationship, because she’s unwilling or incapable of being in one herself

Gunther is being wonderfully level-headed and focused here. I am glad.

Luann needs to really examine insider herself why she wants to be so nosy… and why she is so uncomfortable in directly asking Gunther since she is this nosy.

Therapist Pipe thinks that Luann has many repressed emotions and passions for Gunther that she is unwilling and unable to acknowledge. Her superego is very, very strong, and keeps a tighter reign on her ID’s “womanly passions for Gunther” than a bulletproof Master Combination Lock.

Therapist PIpe also recommends she keeps her superego very tightly bound…. because Gunther and Bets is more interesting as a couple than this therapist things Gunther and Luann ever would be.

Sure Luann was asking as a “friend”. Why even care about someone else’s love life status unless maybe there’s a hint of attraction or interest? not really wanting to let go? But keep all the marbles to yourself like a cat with a favorite play toy.

Gunth sure friend-zoned Luann. Friends don’t snoop, they talk face to face. No matter how Luann might see Gunther, he let her know how he feels about her. Just friends, which this arc might bring the two closer together as.

Hey Luann, when Quill and Gunther were roommates Gunther never asked Quill about your romance with him.

The last time Luann talked about sex with a guy, she blushed so hard, she almost bled to death.

Aha! Forced confession, but it gets the truth out.

I hope we are not on the path to a Luann-Gunther reconciliation and igniting of new-ish romance. That would not be fair to Bets, who, whatever her faults, has patently done so much toward making a man of Gunther, so long a Momma’s Boy….
