Hmm . . . 31 first time through. I seem to have missed a couple.
This reminds me of the old “Find X differences in the two panels” that used to be in the Sunday comics. Maybe it still is. Unfortunately, it been a few years since I’ve seen a Sunday paper. It just kept getting smaller and smaller, and then they took out my favorite comics and mostly ignored my small town school’s sports programs. So now I’m online only.
Yay! Clucky Chicken makes his annual appearance! He is an Easter toy, so (I assume) Elvis brings him out of his undisclosed, but safe location once a year to celebrate. I imagine it would be difficult to guard both the Girl and Clucky Chicken full-time.
My Robber Mice Mnemonic for anyone else who struggles to remember four things:
Alice, first down rabbit holes and chief BLACKguard; Agnes, gentle as a lamb and good as GOLD; Natasha, cliche Russian name and WHITE as northern snow; Violet, a flower that grows in BROWN dirt.
Does anyone else have ways of memorizing the Robber Mice?
Everybody looks so stylish in their Easter clothes, but I do miss Easter Bonnets! How on earth did Puck ever get all the yellow feathers off his pink suit?
I only found 26 the first time through, but I’ve found all 33 of them now.
It’s always interesting to me to see how other people celebrate Easter, not least because I always manage to forget its religious connotations. My parents always just hid a bunch of grape-sized, egg-shaped chocolates wrapped in coloured foil around the living room and library room, and then I see people putting out decorations and wearing fancy clothes.
YAY! I printed it out where I could number them, and I had actually found all 33, I was just skipping different eggs each time I tried to do it by sight.
One year when I was a kid they had a neighborhood Easter egg hunt. Five dozen eggs were colored and hidden around my great-grandmother’s yard. Unfortunately we kids found sixty-one; seems our egg-hunting skills had improved just enough that someone found an egg that had been missed the previous Easter. And nobody could tell which egg was a whole year old.
Pretty much killed the original plan to turn the found eggs into egg salad for all.
31 the first time , 32 the second time, keep getting distracted with goodies dress, the robber mice dresses .and the boys easter suits. Happy Easter and Passover 2 all
To my fellow Christians, Halleujah! Christ has risen from the dead. To those of other faiths, or no faith, have a safe and happy day in these strange times. Now, to Ancient Egypt.
How wonderful! Best clothes on everyone and eggs for all, even Robber Mice. I see Buzzy Mouse, Penny, bunny ears on kids, perfect. Thank You, Georgia! I had bad dreams last night and feel much better now.
Also, thank you all for your many kind wishes yesterday. You have no idea how much my spirits were lifted by all of you. I’ll try some of your suggestions on Paul. I’m also calling our family doctor to see what further suggestions she has to offer, and to ask again if, considering his frail condition, he should be hospitalized.
Happy Easter and Passover to all believers, and to everyone else, Happy Day! Thank you, Georgia, for the lovely Easter egg hunt, it brings back happy memories at a time when we truly need them and I wish you and your family a wonderful Easter. And for all of us and our loved ones, both human and animal, I pray for good health, and the soonest possible end to the pandemic so that we can all return to our normal lives.
Georgia, thank you so much for such a fun start to an otherwise gloomy, impending-storms sort of day. I haven’t hunted Easter eggs in such a very long time … and I can do this egg hunt without ruining the knees of my tights or tearing my Easter outfit (the bane of my 5-year-old self.) What joy!
One year when my kids were 2, 5, 9, and 11 I hid a dozen plastic eggs for each kid. The youngest girl had solid colors, the next oldest girl had two-tone, and the boys had either camo or marbled, and the eggs were filled with things appropriate for each. I told them they were not allowed to “find” someone else’s eggs. I also made sure that the hiding places were appropriate for each kid. Then I let the boys have a 10 minute head start and the older girl a 5 minute head start. The girls’ eggs were only hidden in the front yard and the youngest’s were just in the grass and not underneath anything. The girls had about 10 minutes of fun and were ready to stop looking and start eating candy. The boys spent over an hour and didn’t find one of the eggs for a week and one several months later. Luckily both missing eggs had things that weren’t harmed by the heat.
Today is Big Wind Day. Our anemometer is barely registering. Tomorrow the prognostications are for strong winds—NWS strikes again (No Worthwhile Science).
Today is also the Christian holiday of Easter. I hope none of you meet the Ether Bunny—those eggs are loaded.
For those not wanting to hunt or having trouble finding eggs:
Chair – 4: one with a robber mouse at the top, one in the boy’s hand and two in the seat
Clock Lamp Table – 3: one in the shade, one behind the clock, and one on the floor.
Sofa – 6: one behind the pillow by the clock lamp table, one between the cushions, one behind Elvis’s tale, one falling out of the girl’s basket, one in her basket, andone peaking out over the pillow by the penguin lamp table
Penguin Lamp Table – 3: One in the cup, one in the drawer, one infront of the ball infront of the table
Fireplace – 9: One beside the fireplace, one broken open infront of the fireplace, four in the fireplace, one in the basket with Lupin, one falling out of the basket One behind Lupin’s head on the in the tree decoration.
Center Rug/Coffee Table – 8: One held by a robber mouse (Natasha), one held by Puck, two in the basket, one under table that looks like an egg version of Buzzy (Buzzy himself is on the fireplace mantle) beside Puck, one leaning on the table, one under Goldie, and one behind the robber mouse looking up at Goldie.,
OT: My little Tom needed to visit the doctor during lockdown. He had an abscess on his shoulder. We did tell them all that they are to retire and the that fight club is off, but cats will be cats.
It was an interesting experience. We were not allowed into the building it was all done with 2 meter distancing and in the car. After taking the history, leave the cat in their cage in the car park and back away. The consult takes place while you wait in the car and then you are given an update with distancing.
He had to be sedated so we came back later to take him home and it was the same.
The card payment terminal is left on the table and you do your thing, sanitise your hands and go back to the car.
All round a little weird, but Tom is feeling better and ravenously hungry.
Happy Easter everyone! I’m preparing a feast in our motor home even though I had wanted to go out for a meal. Not feasible this year, so maybe next year!
Old lady old story. Even as teens my brother and I enjoyed the hunt and hid for each other. One year we found an egg but neither of us remembered making it. Then realized it was from the previous year. It had traveled back and forth on top of the drapes every day for a year. We very carefully and delicately put it in the outside trash can…..thanking that it had not fallen on my mom moving the drapes! He’s now 64 and I’m 59.
