Now, if Evil Annie will will just keep that promise. It seems that this is an intro to Tiff and Nancy having a talk. Bet that talk ends in Tiff moving in…
SO Les knows his mother is there. TJ has seen her. And…..did ANN see them? She probably knows Les works there. But TJ I think she would get into his face if she sees him. It doesn’t jibe that TJ has seen her and does nothing. I understand why Les is keeping his distance. Again, poor writing and sloppy story organization. GnK, come on, do better.
If Ann returns to the Fuse, probably to gloat about calling the public health dept, building code & permit inspector, fire marshal, alcohol enforcement officer, and invite food critics to give bad reviews. Did I miss anything? Oh,yea. Bank Note on the fuse is sold to Ann.
Tiffany is right Ann will come back, although Tiffany calling anyone a liar is like a pot calling a kettle black. Of course she would know. All of Ann’s antagonists work at the Fuse, how convenient. As ZM pointed out above. they are STANDING RIGHT THERE. The difference? Cheetah mama. She is going to be poised at some point going forward. Post cub protection present cub revenge. Just wait for it.
Ann got her scene. Tiff’s last words portend her reappearance at some point. Evil has ssociopathic practiioners. It is rare in American comic strips to see a character like Ann Eiffel aka awful. Revenge and inury obscess her. Psycho-mean and able to pass as sane as a manipulator. Oy vei. Auwe.
Well, I for one do not wish to see Ann Eiffel back in the strip anytime soon. This strip is called “Luann” and it is about the development of a young woman and her friends and her family and her frenemies.
I truly hope that Nancy is able to compare notes not only with Tiffany, but TJ, Bernice, both her children, Les, Mr. Gray, and anyone else who has had contact with Ann Eiffel. It would be lovely to see Ann taken down by all of them as a group.
Of course none of these 5 people will talk to each other about their past interactions with Ann. They will all forget about her and go onto other matters. This lame plot is ridiculous, like a bad sitcom where nobody knows what anyone is actually doing.
Five people other than Ann in P1 and she’s affected all their lives, at one time or another, in a negative way. And now she’s going to get back at Nancy probably through Frank. She’s going to charm the pants off of him. Will it have something to do with that vacant room? Hmm.
The whole “The Fuse” crew was watching in absolute silence. They all know Ann, but nobody wants to deal with her. Ann has no friends, she can’t have them. She only has her almost fiancé who she, probably, just uses and don’t love. She’s alone. I can’t wait to see Ann and Nancy’s next epic fight!
Kinda unfortunate that neither Tiffany nor Luann ever, after years have gone by, told Nancy that Ann sold counterfeit lingerie in the Fews. Ann ripped off a lot of people right under Nancy and Frank’s noses, and is a criminal. But hey, Nancy kicked her out for being a rude customer today. So Nancy obviously “won.” Facedesk.
Tiff, unfortunately, is correct. Listen to her, Nancy, and remain on your guard, because Ann “Annie Awful” Eiffel tends to follow through on her threats. Does The Fuse (including Kafe Kablooie—and yes, despite my having been misled by the tiny typography yesterday, there is that “i” in there as I had thought there should but removed because I could not see it on the bag Oxford was holding) have a lawyer on retainer? If so contact him/her at once. If not, get one—a good one!
DOOM! Except for Brad and Bernice, every person that has suffered grief from Awful Annie is depicted in Panel 1. That cannot be a mere happenstance!Greg is signaling something.
We cannot believe Ann’s departing shot; even if we weren’t warned by Tiff’s comment in Panel2.
It’s almost as if Greg is signaling all of these characters, maybe even The Fuse itself, will experience Ann’s machination’s.
This strip has a sense of finality to it. It feels like the end of an arc; i.e., Nancy’s introduction to her new job. It would be too early to introduce Ann revenge at being bullied into leaving. So I predict a new, brief arc come Monday before returning to this milieu. Maybe Tiff’s grades? Maybe something else?
I think Ann will come back, and this arc will continue on Monday, although not necessarily with Ann at first. I think Tiffany and Les will, in their own ways tell Nancy their history with this hyena female term for dog, as will the others. She won’t search out Ann but will be ready when that time comes. It will draw out, and is part, I am convinced of the larger story of the growth of the younger characters, and I, for one, is glad to see Nancy be more than a Sunday foible. Will Frank get into the action eventually? Yes and so will big Al. He won’t harm is baby sister, but he is quietly powerful, and I can see a storyline where he is happy his nephew is slowly healing, and is fitting into Luannverse, and will do what is necessary to protect that from Ann. Lets really get ready to Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmble.
For those gentle readers so SURE the Nancy had Ann shaking in her Manolo Blahniks, need to take a good hard look at the first panel. Here you have four people that have one time or another, faced Ann in actual “combat.”
Les and Old Smiley bested Ann thru blackmail. Ox thwarted Ann by refusing to help her sue Toni and her niece Shannon. Tiffany, for the briefest of periods had Ann on the ropes. But NOW, at a crucial time, ALL, with the exception of Ox stood on the sidelines and did nothing but watch.
Yeah, Yeah, I know. “Nancy didn’t need their help.” But are you so sure? Each time that Ann has been vanquished, from the time Zane had her shipped off to Tokyo to Les blackmailed Her and himself out of debt, Ann has ALWAYS bounced back stronger than ever. There is never a sense of finality to Ann’s defeats. She keeps coming back. Anybody who thinks that Ann is going to leave the Fuse with her dinner and never return seeking revenge, believes in Unicorns.
Nancy did a good job, no question. But she would have done a better job if she had some backup.
One more thing. “Liar” Tiffany? “Who” LIED to her good friend at Study Ball two months ago? ;)
Naturally, Ann will come back. But that should finally allow Tiffany to grow into the mature woman she is supposed to become and finally stand up to both Ann and her father.
While I have no idea whether or not Greg will continue this same arc on Monday I wonder whether eventually the Kafe will mysteriously receive a notice from the local Health Authority (or whoever does restaurant inspection) saying there has been a complaint about cleanliness and hygiene in the establishment.
Nancy is about to hear the full story. How Ann is Les’ mom. How T.J. got Ann fired from Weinie World. How Ann is dating and lying to Tiffany’s dad .. and making Tiffany miserable. (Hmmm, maybe Tiffany can rent the room in Luann’s house)?
Note to the cartoonist: don’t forget to add a “we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone” sign somewhere within the artwork. The almost fiancé lawyer/Tiffany’s dad will be looking for it.
Nancy has proven that she is a valuable addition to the staff. She can work side by side with others, filling in for whatever needs to be done. Yet when the need arises, she can use her position of authority to intervene. Pru was misled by Ann (renting the space for sale of counterfeit goods). But Nancy (even though she didn’t know Ann) saw right through and sensed immediately that this is not someone to have around.
Ok Nancy- Ann thought you were an easy target for her insults.Ann failed in trying to shame you, Ann Eiffel is upset that her insults boomerang back to her. The "almost the Fiancee Ann " next step is getting “kick to curb”?Or Tiffany finding a partner to launch “Tiffany Enterprise”. I am ready for hilarious story arc or maybe a romantic journey with Jack and Luann.
Okay, I remember Tiffany being the spoiled, little rich girl who did terrible things in high school. But, she did get her comeuppances for her actions, and even though she still has a lot to learn, she has somewhat become a better person.
Ann Eiffel, on the other hand, has no intention of learning from her mistakes. She doesn’t even care that her son no longer speaks to her, but she will no doubt cry to anyone about how difficult it is to try and reconnect with him, if it will gain the right kind of sympathy.
So, after this, Ann will probably cry to Tom about how mean everyone was to her (especially Tiffany). And, of course, Tom will not want to hear Tiffany’s side.
Meanwhile, Tiffany has an opportunity to talk to Nancy about just how horrid Ann Eiffel really is. Nancy is the kind of person who will really listen to her… and help her find a real solution.
Pay close attention to her comments in panel 1. Ann states the fuze will never see HER again. But i suspect she’ll try to sic her “almost fiance” and “top attorney” on them. Ann will play the victim and make the owner and her employees look like monsters.
There they are: Ann looking curvy. Nancy looking trim, and Tiffany looking sturdy. Sturdy? I don’t want sturdy. Tiff should be the successor to Playboy’s Little Annie Fanny.
Ann needs to go. She’s turning what used to be a delightful place to visit daily into a soap opera. I’d go so far as to stop buying the newspaper that carries this strip – seriously.
