Reminds me a little of the movie Yellowbeard. Should have been great but was merely tolerable. Tommy Chong played a very religious ruler who had a staff member whose job it was to design horrific new torture devices so as to help speed people along to their heavenly reward. This was a small sub-plot. It was mostly sort of a pirate movie.
I wonder, even in the olden times, how one got the job as the torturer? I mean really, what goes into the CV for that? Who ‘recommends’ you for that sort of thing? …sheesh!
So with the door boarded up, I take it the construction crew are stuck in the torture chamber until they are finished, both literally and metaphorically.
