Gee, just like the “Old Timey” Percolator my folks use to have. Have to get up to plug it in. Let it run too long and your coffee will taste so bad you won’t want to drink it.

My grandmother had one that you put on the stove after it was done percolating she would leave it on low all day until it was empty. You never wanted to have coffee with dinner there if you saw a half full pot of ink.

I get up (0410 today), make coffee, and put my wife’s mug in the bathroom. Two to five hours later, she gets up and reheats it.

Loved the funky sound of a percolator and seeing the coffee splashing into the bubble on top. Great sound and smell to wake up to when camping or cabining.

OK. Arlos not knowing when he’s going to get up is a bad sign. Self-discipline is a requirement to get you through … well … life. Although I observe many humanoids who manage to muddle through without a lot of it. But then those folks depend on the rest of us. They also tend to be more interested in indulging their “feelings” … you know: selfishness.

It’s important to have structure in your life and work daily on improving that structure.

and when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled. Revelation 6

The fifth seal has been broken. The sixth seal is quite horrific in description. It suggests an event as massive as a physical polar shift where the planet itself flips. You’re going to need a lot more toilet paper.

i have a 12 cup Mr Coffee. nothing fancy. i get it ready the night before and turn the power on when i get up. by the time i get back inside from taking my dog out in the morning my first cup is waiting for me to pour into my tall cup. Keurigs contribute to our plastic problem and the cups are way too expensive than the Maxwell House coffee i get.

DUDE!! How tough is it to get up go into the kitchen and run water into the pot, while putting two scoops of coffee in the basket, pour the water into the coffee maker and hit the start button!! And I say that as a guy who use to roast and grind his own coffee, and used only purified water. And Ken it isn’t that it “runs” to long it’s that it sits with the heat still on, because no one unplugged it.

Also, I cannot use the coffee maker timer. I’d have to fill the coffee maker before bed and in the morning the water wouldn’t be cold anymore. Fresh-ground beans (they’re ground right before brewing) + cold water = better coffee.

My father-in-law would make percolator coffee at night. He’d pull the plug and reheat in the next morning and call it fresh coffee. I tried it but once. Godawful stuff. But there you are.

What? Nobody mentioned cold-brew yet! Course-grind the beans in the blender, add water, soak for 12 – 24 hours. Then filter and store in the refrigerator. When you want coffee, pour half a cup and add water. Can drink it over ice or heated. No bitterness, just smoooooth.

We don’t drink coffee. (I think I have some instant left from over 10 years ago when we used to let family and friend come in the house before the bed bugs.)

We are not morning people. Since husband quit his job about 15 years ago we sleep later and later – right now it is 1:45 am and he is upstairs working and I am in the kitchen being away from him for a couple of hours. We have gotten to the point where we start to bed at 4 am – he falls asleep and then wakes at 1pm and watches TV in bed; if I am lucky I fall asleep by 6 am and wake at 2 pm. Have lunch. Work – either work-work or housework. Had to take a pair of his jeans 2 inches at the waist yesterday and will have to do same with at least another pair so he can change off. They were falling off from the weight lost since start of March. (Mine still stay up after 13 lbs lost – ditto.) Dinner at 8 pm. Late night snack (aka breakfast) at 3 am and then up to bed after washing dishes.
