I’m lost. Does the black represent the sun going down (passage of time)? That would explain the sunburn. Or is it the suntan oil burning? Or her skin? And where did the shrub that behind her go?
Maybe JJ was using creative license and rather than being a shadow the artist was attempting to convey that our heroine realized that she was in deep….
Our hero Arlo is on his way with his trusty gallon of aloe Vera and perhaps a medical bag of alternative remedies.
I have only had one bad sunburn in my life and it was a doozy. I was visiting with friends at the beach. I am pretty sure I should have gone to the hospital, not because it was blistering but because it covered a good 75% of my body at just short of blistering. I had vertigo – couldn’t drive – and felt sick to my stomach. Later that night, I was so hot and uncomfortable that I decided to take a cool bath – well, when I went to stand up, I couldn’t. Still dizzy, so I crawled to the bathroom. I filled up the tub with cool water and stayed in it until the water warmed up. I did that 3 times. Finally was able to get some sleep. When I got home, my mom put Solarcaine on my back and that’s when we discovered I was allergic to it. That was fun getting it off. Then she did towels soaked in cold water and vinegar. That worked. I vowed never to take a 7 hour walk along the beach again (I was talking to a friend and we walked between 10 and 5 pm – it was a really good conversation). At least I was evenly roasted. The only thing not burned was where my bathing suit was, the bottom of my feet and the palms of my hands. Oh, and what parts of my head my hair covered (I had my hair up, so even the back of my neck got burned). I was a mess.

I always found sunbathing so uncomfortable, especially lying on my stomach, that I never lasted long enough to get burned.

Now that’s gonna hurt twice. The blisters will form and Arlo will have his say. Then he will put something on it for her.

How did she undo her bikini top? Yesterday’s cartoon showed no back clasp. (I’ll get my coat)

Arlo abdicated his duty! Did he fall asleep? It’s still his job to watch the clock on the sunbathing and issue one last warning.

I am offended to see Janis wearing blackface, while using profanity.

I thought Janis could count on Arlo. He was supposed to execute a surprize Ice-Bucket Challenge after 10 minutes. ;-)

It’s a good thing that she wasn’t sunbathing sunnyside up. If she had, she would have had a couple of fried eggs.
