Thibault is getting annoying already. First sexism and then glasses?! Where is the line going to be drawn?

This plot line is getting a bit weird.

I didn’t remember Charles Schultz having such a hater for a character…

For some reason, I don’t remember this character on any of the Peanuts merchandise.

Marcie doesn’t need glasses to see what a jerk Thibault is.

Is Thibault’s last name Riggs? Son of Bobby Riggs perhaps?

I’d like to see Thibault visit the dentist after Marcie gets done with him to replace some missing “Chicklets” or perhaps having to wear braces from the orthodontist if Marcie only manages to loosen them a bit when she clocks him…..

Now if this were Calvin and Susie, she would have decked him by now. Susie sometimes responded with violence in response to Calvin’s verbal taunts.

Has it been so long since we were children? Little boys who are discovering they “like” girls don’t know how to process those emotions, so they mask them with insults. “He only teases you because he LIKES you,” my mom told me all through elementary school. If Marci kissed him on the nose I bet it would shut him up faster than a punch. Hormone overload will send him into shock.

Hey, you little brat! If you want the floor to be clean and your food to taste good, then a girl DOES need to see what she’s doing! She could miss spots on the floor. And if she were baking you a cake from scratch, you wouldn’t want her to use a half cup of salt in the cake when she was supposed to use a half cup of sugar, would you? Or worse, salt instead of sugar in the icing?

Haven’t seen this kid Thibault before this week. Making me glad for that. Hope Schulz didn’t spend too much time on him.

Marcie can be seen without her glasses on in the May 25th 1980 Sunday strip. Her eyes have little half-circles around them like Linus’ and Lucy’s eyes do.

I know exactly what Thibault’s parents were like. Mine. And my brothers learned to be just like Thibault. Anyone want to guess why I went no contact?

I’ve encountered that attitude from time to time ever since I was a kid in the 60s. The only time it really was this in-your-face was when I was 8 and we went on a field trip to the Navy base to see their computer (this was 68 or 69). I commented that it looked like it was a job I might like. The man standing behind me said in a very condescending voice, “Oh no, that’s MAN’s work!”

While I never went into computer technology, like pretty much everyone, I use a computer every day and own several, including my cell phone. I often wonder what he’d say now!

Just deck him one, Marcy. He certainly deserves it.

Keep in mind that this strip was first released a LONG time ago, and had a very positive influence at that time as it progressed. Quit bitching, and follow. Or go buy the book they eventually were collected into.

I don’t remember this storyline at all, but I’ll tell you something. This kid will be going down hard pretty soon.
