For fans of the books and the film of A Street Cat Named Bob, and who haven’t heard, Bob passed away on Monday. He saved a mans life and now goes to his reward over the rainbow bridge where all our departed pussumses will welcome him.
Queen Catshepsut the Golden: I’ve called you all here to make an announcement: There’s been an amazing harvest of hard papyrus and I’ve decided to send a special gift to all our subjects.
Sophititi: Shall we make papyrus husks, Your Majesty?
The Queen: Yes. Here’s what I want you to do…
Sometime later
Burt-Ra: The husks are all ready, Your Majesty. Shall we send them out to our people?
The Queen: Yes. Send for Cat-Mandu and his crew.
Elvis-Anum: Who’s he?
Lupinium: He goes around delivering things.
Sometime even later
Beatrixia: The husks are all delivered. Wonder what surprise is inside.
OT: Paul: I think Paul may be slowly improving. Our family doctor is going to do a house call on Monday. The oncologist has changed our face-to-face appointment for a telephone interview. I am upset. I understand about Covid-19, but Paul has cancer, for cry-eye-eye. How can he do a proper assessment over the phone?
I apologize for not updating for the past little while. I decided to splurge on Chinese food, tried a new place, and I think I gave myself a mild case of food poisoning.
Speaking of books, our library has a video some might enjoy… especially the choices for comic strips. https://www.facebook.com/bristolpubliclibrary/videos/1148146085536737/
Normally, this would put a certain Bharathi bear into throws of ecstasy, but picanic baskets are probably rare on the ground, today. Here’s hoping that by next year, his Happy Hunting Grounds will be well stocked.
Personally, I’ve never cared much for picnics. All the popular places for them are also popular with flies, ants, and mosquitoes. However, dining al fresco when it really is out—way out—of civilization, like wilderness camping, is quite another thing. The food may not be quite what it is in a picnic, but after paddling and portaging all day, it tastes remarkably good. The only uninvited guests are the Wilderness Air Force (mosquitoes, whiskey jacks), grizzly chipmunks, and the occasional bear, of which the greatest danger is the grizzly chipmunk, closely followed by the whiskey jacks. At least the latter are polite about it, announcing their intent with the characteristic cry of: “Thief! Thief!” Bears, on the other hand, are usually relatively easy to deal with, compared with these other two cunning and ferocious denizens of the wild.
NOTE: THREE TIMES NEVER, EVER, feed a wild bear. That will make them far more dangerous, to you, and to others.
Gent, being a very civilized bear, is okay to “share” your food with. That might be a good idea, since his normal source of food is currently scarce.
They are not goofballs, even in the affectionate sense of the word. They do a great job, and we all know what book store work entails. Not just any animal is equal to the challenge.

I am absolutely loving & adoring this arc, with the local indie bookstore fully stafffed & thriving in spite of the COVID-19 lockdown. Stay safe, everyone!
Pepper update!! His RBC count was 28, which the vet says is good, but she wants him at 40. She approved of us feeding him kitten food, and we’ll give him cooked meat (special for him when we have red meat), and we’ll continue the weekly blood tests til he’s at a good rate. I don’t know what then, probably maintenance checks. She says he was a very good boy with the blood draw :)
He’s eating well, he loves his “special treat” twice a day whcih is lobster & salmon paste with a ..shhh!… steroid pill crushed in it :) Still sleeping a lot, but that’s a good thing. So far he only has one packet of wet food a day, along with on-demand kibble. He’s only wanted more than one packet once, but if he finishes the wet and wants more, he gets it :)
I thought I posted this before but I am not seeing it, I was on Zazzle and I saw that The Fuzzy Blanket is 30% off until the end of the day, if anyone was thinking about buying. I think someone here bought one, but I don’t know if they gave a review of it.
I could swear when I discovered this comic a couple years ago (I think) that I went to the beginning of them and read every single one. But, I notice, when people post favorites or “history” comics and I go read them I sit puzzled and go, I don’t recall that one. Now, the only cure I can think of for this is to reread them all again (and again, and again) until I can remember them. I know it’s going to be rough, but I will try to push through!

Ahh, fills my heart with hope and gladness.
A prayer for us all originally sung by an angelic voice:
Bless the beasts and the people
For in this world it can be tough
Some have it ruff
Bless the beasts and the people
For the world can never be
Working perfectly
Light our way
When the darkness surrounds us
Give us love
Let it shine all around us
Bless the beasts and the people
Give us shelter from the storm
Keep us safe
Keep us warm
- Amen -
(Bless the Beasts and Children – Carpenters)
