We the readers have pretty much guaranteed the return of Ann Eiffel!

And that’s one of the reasons Luann is almost never featured in her own cartoon. Yawn.

Well, I’ll give it this, the lines, for once, don’t look like they were written for a couple of 16 yr olds.

Unfortunately this gag, or a variant of it, has been done several thousand times in the past decade alone. Not a single person who’s been following Luann for over a year couldn’t predict the punchline from the first 9 words.

To whoever commented yesterday, looking for Mordy, I think he’s posting at ArcaMax under the name Bill Lewis. He used to post there using the screenname ‘Moose’, if so. Sounded a lot like him, anyway…

Ho hum script

Calming people down has many benefits. I always remember the time I had three Angolan soldiers pointing AK-47s at me on prohibited military grounds at 10:02 PM (they asked me the time and let me know it was prohibited after 6 PM) shortly after Reagan invaded Grenada. No sudden moves. An unfeigned look of ignorance. No volunteering that I was American (I honestly responded “Não, Texaco.” ) Slowly walked away after thanking them, “Obrigado o meu amigos.”

Wait ’till they go through all the cassette tapes Luann made years ago.

I quit reading the comments after about an hour and a half.

You never can tell. What was not naughty 7 years can be considered naughty today. Cybercrooks these days are not about stealing but about ruining people’s careers.

I think this might be a clue that something out of the ordinary is about to happen to LUANN.

Whose sterile-looking room is this? Anyway, cybercrooks want money, and you and your family have very little, if desperately needing to rent out a single bedroom to one young adult is anything to go by.

Perhaps Luann might meet a nice Nigerian prince on line…

Who predicted this is exactly what we would see today. The 2 of them, lolly gagging around on Luann’s bed! It’s actually funny! (but I’m not laughing)

Bernice: …And if cybercrooks hack into MY PC to see all the naughty stuff I do…

Oh Luann … too good for this world, too pure ♡! On the other hand, if the said cybercrooks will ever hack Bernice’s tablet/laptop etc, I think they might be scared for life.

Did Greg and Karen just tacitly admit that Luann has become too dull to carry her own strip?

1) Luann has returned to the Sunday strip after an unexpected (and unexplained) two-week absence!

2) Luann and Bernice in Luann’s room ruminating about the vagaries of life. Complete with the ever present Puddles.

3) The Wicked (W)itch o’ Pitts has been banished to the nether world.

HA! Cybercrooks may not find naughty things on your computer, Luann. Unless you exchanged any emails with friends when you were wondering about Gunther’s late night activities with Bets.

And just as the swallows return to Capistrano, Bernice, Luann, and Puddles return to Luann’s bedroom to assess their lives. Or, for Puddles, take a snooze. Nothing changes.

And we’re back to the bedroom. At least he didn’t show the mess. What’s up with Bernice? Doesn’t she have a family? They went all through grade school together so why doesn’t she ever have her own place? Was she a homeless transient? Its weird and kind of creepy.

I got an email demanding bitcoin or something similar and if I didn’t pay they would distribute video of me watching disgusting porn. I wouldn’t have a concern about that (since I don’t) but they had one of my passwords! I googled it and found that it was a scam of course and that someone bought some hacked info from one of the dozens of hacks that occur every year. Just thought I’d give a heads up in case you encounter this scam. Just change your password.

I get the threatening bitcoin emails every so often. I got hacked once, they only got my gocomic pw. Usual BS about my camera (none) and hardware (went through a rebuild, so no key logger) There is a way to check on bitcoin transactions, so far no one has paid this clown. IF I were going to visit questionable places I’d use a spare computer with no associated email, but I’d never look at stuff like that.

Maybe if more of us were boring, it would deter cybercrime. And I DO highly emphasize the ‘maybe’.

Ann Eiffel is the only true-to-life character in this strip. And the only one complex enough to be interesting. I miss her already.

Back to normal.

Luann is back and everyone is bored. Called it.

I used to preface a lot of my comments with “I’m not a long time reader of this ’toon”, but I guess, in comparison to some who are posting here, that is no longer true. I was a reader during the ‘Dirk’ episodes, so I remember that he drew as many posters as the Ann Awful arcs have. The bad guys do attract readers, if only because those readers are hoping to see the bad guy finally get his or her punishment.

What totally puzzles me is the (to me) relatively newer posters here who are so intent on relating this ‘toon to politics. Where is that coming from? The closest I can remember any political commentary being included is when Brad decided to become a firefighter after 9/11 happened, and that isn’t really politics.

There are so many other places to post political commentary (if equating people to Nazis and talking about how hatred defines everyone with a certain political designation can be seen as commentary.) Please, those of you who want to talk politics — many of us come here to escape the everyday miseries for a few minutes. Please post political stuff elsewhere…

Agree— this strip is a nice break from politics & plagues—-please keep it that way & save the political discourse for an appropriate venue.

We may have a totally new arc Monday, leaving me to wonder what Tiffany’s life will look like going forward. I didn’t like Tiffany as a little rich girl with $300 hairdos etc. I was hoping it wouldn’t return to that. I really thought there could be a good arc with Tiffany moving into the DeGroots – with personal growth resulting for both her and Luann. But that doesn’t seem likely now. What does seem likely is Tiffany hooking up with Les. I don’t think Les would be welcome to move into Tom’s mansion – so maybe a future new life for Tiffany elsewhere.

This strip is back on my follow list because Ann Eiffel is gone. Do not make me regret that. Ever.

I think it is absolutely stupid, yes stupid that people keep focusing on the “stories” in this strip that Luann is not personally involved in. The old trope about “boring” Luann, or useless “Bernice” or complaining when she is in the strip, or complaining when she is not in the strip is so tiresome it’s incredible. The genius of this strip, the reason why I have been reading it faithfully for over 30 years, is exactly because of the above, and I like Luann, and her development. She will eventually catch the love of her life, Bernice will fall hopelessly in love, I personally hope same sex, and blow the mind of her BFF, who will remain her BFF no matter what, and Toni and Brad finally have her baby, and Rosa might return putting Gunther in a tizzy with that warrior woman he has now. There is so much to the strip I say stop complaining about Luann. Give it a rest, that horse has been beaten to it skeleton.

The one I would like to see go is Bernice. She is one who keeps Luann bogged down to a dull life. I want to see Luann grow, but she is best friends with someone who never encourages her nor supports her. It is time for Luann to dump the friendship and move on.

Okay, now that Ann Eiffel has been done in it is time for the next unexpected surprise.
