A… If you wrote cursive as many times a day as doctors used to, you’d know why so much of it was messy. (I found out when I was running a dorm in college). B… my medical father so hated the stereotype that he went to great pains to write with a beautiful script. So much so I was never able to write so pretty no matter how much I tried.
I’m doing Covid test result callbacks. Some of the messages I get are totally unintelligible and I am not talking about static; wake up, empty your mouth, speak slowly and distinctly, and repeat, if you have an atypical or unusual spelling for your name, spell it out.
I hate those doctor and pharmacy offices that leave “mystery messages” on your phone that coyly hint at some important message they just cannot leave for you. I have told them to send me email because the messages sound too much like “phishing”, especially the business about leaving a different phone number than appears in the Caller ID.

It’s a pretty old joke; Sanskrit doctors had the same issues.

This is why you don’t get a doctor from the “Peanuts” strip.

Online medical portals are awesome. A quick email to the nurse or a click to renew prescriptions are so much faster than the dang phone calls of old.
