Bets ` Weird Family?

Just wait ’till you and Gunny have kids…

I have a cousin whose spouse posts their cosplays on Facebook. Although I’ve never cosplayed as anime character before nor been to a cosplay convention, it seems my relative sure is into it.

Bets’ microminiskirt seems properly micro. Gunther is still and Leslie continued tp be the “designated Bernice” delivering snark. Though today he’s kind of overdoing it.

It looks like Gunther has his batarang stuffed down his pants.

I thought they were doing a “talk on costuming”.

So is Bets family weird because their Republicans? Seventh Day Adventists? LGBT? Preppers? Mimes. It’s hard to think ofa family that’s “weird” and not part of any social minefield. In “Komi-san wa Komyushou desu” Komi-san has a communications disorder that makes it all but impossible to speak to others. Her father and brother are like her while her mother is the talkative one in the family. It’s a really nice manga, and has a really weird family but not in any kind of politcal or religious manner.

And it looks like We May FINALLY get some back-story on Bets. Where she lives, “who” her parents are and what makes them so gob-stopping “Weird.” Maybe We’ll even learn Bets’ last name.

What may be revealed, could turn out to be GOOD news for the DeGroots. Because if Bets’ Parental Units are “weird” as she says, the DeGroots will retain the coveted title of being the ONLY Semi-Normal Parents in the entire VAST Luanniverse. ;)

What do we know about Bets family!!!

Looks to me like Gunther is exiting stage left =because= Bets mentioned how weird her family is. Look at G’s side eye and “Ooo, I forgot…” Classic “I’m outta here” gambit.

As I recall, Les was equally snarky about cats until one adopted him.

Suddenly, Gunther seems very large. Must be the little bat ears.

Gunther, a buff physique doesn’t suit you. You look rather silly in it. It appears that the costume is made for a buff guy and it is loose on you. Just put on a trekkie costume – suits you better. Yeah, I know. Like women wanting to don sexy outfits when they don’t have the body for them…men also wants to don buff which is the sexy to men…not all men can wear them. Call Jack. He can wear it.

Les, haven’t you ever wanted to be someone else than your waking self-if only for a little while? Haven’t you wanted to break out of your humdrum, daily existance and pretend ?

I’m fond of thinking that “to don a costume is to unlock one’s inner, playful child”. ;D

I guess he’s just happy to see her.

Totally imagining Gunth doing the Christian Bale voice and everything.

What the Big Jolly? She has no knees! And Gunther’s eyes look really weird with that mask, like the little black button eyes of a doll. Maybe he should’ve gone with Thor.

Leave it to Gunther to have his underwear hiked up higher than Ed Grimley’s pants!

The Batman Cowl is not impressive, the ears look wimpy like Gunther. It distracts from the batman costume.

Les sure seems to be clinging to normality

If I was there I’d make fun of Les and his silly little beard fuzz.

I don’t remember ever seeing anything about Bets’ family. Maybe we’ll get to find out about them.

Oooh! How inappropriate! How can Gunther be wearing his underwear outside his pants! I had to take my daily Luann comic printout away from the family at breakfast; I didn’t want my wife to see how Gunther is portrayed.

Now all I can think of is Gunther in tight underwear! Why did we have to see this??

I wonder what her weird real family is like.

Do we even know where Bets lives? I also wanted to know where Tara lives.

Gunny looks pretty good fully hooded in his Batman muscle-suit, and Bets is a charming if overly modest Uhuru (several commenters yesterday observed that her skirt is inches longer than the one Nichelle Nichols wore in ST:TOS). But Leslie Knox has managed to provoke a tantalizing hint from Bets, which may lead to future storyline explication….

Is it finally arrived the time for Bets to say something about her life, outside socials and cosplay? HOORAY!!! I’m really curious to know more about her and her weird family ♡! And she will say that to Les…. this is unexpected.

Les could do cosplay, he would make a good “Woverine”.

I know of a group that’s causeplay. They are a nonprofit volunteer group.

Looks like Les is still able to manifest his classic sneer-snarl when he wants to.

This sequence should bring out the “I told you so’s” from a few commenters to those that thought Les’ character was moderating under Punk’s influence. 8^ )

Family weirdness is in the eye of the beholder.

Cosplay seems to suit Gunther in that it gives him the opportunity to project the big hunky muscular man image which he is not in real life (but may fantasize about). Perhaps it is just an intro into our learning a little more about Bets and her family, now that we are done with Bern (for time being).

Is Gunther escaping a potential set-to between Les and Bets?

I still do not trust Bets. She has ulterior motives.

Gunther seems to want to avoid the topic of Bets’ family, especially if it is “weird” . She starts talking about “family” and he move on to other things.

In the immortal words of that renowned sage, Dr.Hunter S. Thompson:

Hmmm… It would be very interesting if we migrate into Bets discussing more details about her family. I would like that quite a bit. I am thinking the probability is low, however, that this will occur.

Never heard the term “batarang” before….. had to look it up… then it made a lot of sense. I do not know if it was referred to as such in all the various “Batman” media I have observed…. but I may simply have overlooked the term and always thought of the device just as a boomerang that looked like his bat symbol. This “batarang” portmanteau is one I do like. “Cosplay” not so much, but I do like it much better if spelled “Cos-play”…. which I have explored and have seen used occasionally…. so I do like that.

I think Gunther carries the Batman look rather well, really! …

Remember, many folks thought Michael Keaton was the most ABSURD choice for that role! … That is – until they saw the film!! :)

BTW: Many people feel their real families are weird. Part of becoming an adult is creating your own family of choice (friends).

Bets is being very pleasant to Les this week. She doesn’t seem to have any bad feelings towards him since their bad date.

Les is certainly chatting Bets up! He looks relaxed and interested in what she’s doing (in his own way). If they started dating would Gunther and Luann get together?

Close, Normal is what 51% of the people say it is.

(It appears their bad date has been erased from the memory banks. There are a lot of story lines about how these relationships formed that seem to just fade away).

Some people will just never understand the enjoyment of dressing up and pretending to be someone different. I don’t cosplay but I do historical recreation and that is also a great way to relax.

Ah, so all the comments yesterday about “the bulge” were just about the codpiece. It did look odd, though.

I have to be honest. I don’t know the first thing about Star Trek or any of it’s spinoffs. Never did catch my interest for whatever reason. But I gotta say that Bets looks pretty darn cute in that outfit…

Judging from Bets’ profile in Panel # 2, the last thing Gunther should be thinking about is his Batarang.

I don’t do Cosplay but I guarantee that if I did, like Bets, the Cosplay family would definitely be less weird than my biological family.

It happened AGAIN: in panel 1 Bets looks normal, but then in panel 3 her skirt becomes knee-length without actually getting any longer, so her thighs are shrunk down to about 2 inches long. What the heck is going on with this girl’s proportions?!
