That looks like a good strategic move! Maybe they could invite the opposing side in for a couple of gallons of drinks… and figure out who passes out first! ;)
In June 1918 the Germans were driving on Paris. The french army shattered, the road to paris was open. American troops agreed to throw up a defensive line as the Germans crossed the Marne. the French were to fall back through the american line and then would reform. they expected the Americans to die buying them time to save Paris.
The Germans hit the american line at Chateau Theirry, and broke, as the french fell back, the Americans moved forward, attacking, driving the Germans back across the Marne and saved Paris.
More than 2,000 of them are buried at the Marne-Aisne cemetery, the one that has gotten so much coverage in the media lately.

They ARE regrouping.
Another keg of ale, they will be able to regroup their courage, and falling on their back will be a natural consequence of all that drinking.

Hey!…Sir Rodney actually look like a fierce knight. Is it only in a public house that this knight can find his courage, and his backbone?

Regrouping is the important part. And where better to do that than in a bar?
