I notice a little color in the leaves, are the leaves already starting to change up in New England? The one’s we have in Central Florida that do turn color (cypress, sweet gum, Florida maple, crepe myrtle) do not change until late November,,,,,,

Hurrah for the mailman! Looks like he has a nice stroll through the woods as a part of his route so Bea’s tree might be further from the houses than we thought yesterday. Might take longer to get a ladder than we hoped.

The mailman is magical! I’m seeing a climb up the tree and a ride for Beatrix back down in his magical mailbag. I believe in mailmen!

The 3 little faces peering down in the last panel are just as cute as can be! (All their clothing is hidden by foliage, too.)

Well, Georgia has always said that she thinks mailmen are heroes. How appropriate that he’s so kind to the little critters of the forest and now will be the one to rescue Beatrix! I BELIEVE IN MAILMEN!!!

O, mighty is the deity Thimblefist invoked yesterday.

Elvis wouldn’t believe it, even if the mailman got HIM out of the tree. (Thanks for pointing out the right cat to me)

My cat Max had been abandoned by his previous people, but was also rescued by a mailman, who would share his tuna sandwich lunch with him, giving him the nickname “Tuna.” He brought Tuna to a hospice run by some nuns, who had a feral cat colony on their grounds. The sisters called the TNR rescue group that tended to the colony, to help Tuna, through which we wound up adopting Tuna, now Max. So this story line resonates with me and Max. We KNOW there are mailmen!!

@GerorgiaDunn (an actual bat) should consider a spin-off cartoon to help revive the dying superhero comix genre: MAILMAN! (With trusty sidekicks Homestyle and Thimblefist!) He Delivers For You!

National Concussion Awareness Day —Right now, I’d like to give a few to Apple corporate. That’s another story you don’t want to hear.

World Bamboo Day —Bamboo, a useful weed that wants to take over the world. Since bamboo is essentially a grass, I wonder if anyone has tried smoking it … probably, and were probably … well, just ask Robin.

National Grenache Day —Let’s all drink to that—in all its varieties and blends.

National Cheeseburger Day —Yes, you can haz chizborger! One of the greatest comfort foods ever invented. Who invented it is a matter of debate, but can never be resolved because it’s very hard to debate when your mouth is full.

Rice Krispies Treats Day —Not quite empty carbs, in fact, they are fully loaded. My favorite of such things is Anderson’s Candy Shop’s dark chocolate Krispy Rice bar. Sheer delight that makes the factory brands look very anemic. They do mail order. Yes, you are doomed.

Things are starting to look up! Or at least the mailman is…

Can anyone tell me what Thimblefist is doing? (Other than shouting comfort at Beatrix) I see only one thimble, and he seems to be holding that one like a cup? Can anyone see him more clearly than I can? Thanks!
